Ticoga inclines his head as Verst makes his statement, and rises to leave. Verst had a point, of course, and so too did Fukushu. But for Ticoga, there was no loyalty to any but the Triumvirate and to the Empire. Acting without direct command was simply not in his blood. He was not a slave, but neither was his ambition so great as to defy those who could obliterate him and whatever future he sought.
"Take care, Verst." Ticoga remarks as the Arcosian leaves, and then turns his attention to Fukushu, who also seems to have read the writing on the wall and had risen to leave. "A word, before you go, Mister Fukushu."
Ticoga also rises, and motions for the androids to take away the hover chairs and drinks. He walks over to Fukushu, and lowers his voice conspiratorially low.
"Do not feel compelled to test Empress Ise on how far she may be pushed. And take careful consideration in your interactions with the other Triumvirs as well. You helped me, and so I will give you this much in return." Ticoga says, maintaining the quiet tone. "My duties as the Shield of Arcose demand that I act in whatever capacity is necessary to protect this Empire. And as I told you, that includes hunting the Empire's enemies."
Ticoga slips a small data chip into Fukushu's hand, but disguises it as a firm hand shake.
"Take my words literally, at all times. My loyalty is to the Empire. I destroy its enemies, wherever they may be. What matters is the timing, and selection of which enemies they may be." Ticoga says, and though his tone remains unchanged, there is a glint in his eyes. "So if you happen across any dangerous enemies of the Empire... Do inform me. I hope we understand each other."
Ticoga releases Fukushu's hand and steps away, planning to resume his training regimen.
"Good luck in your campaign, Mister Fukushu. I do hope your work goes better for you than events on Plant appear to have." he adds before turning away.
