Jackie let the coffee cool a bit in her palms before sipping her own. Watching Alva with mild intrigue. She wondered often how most people, other humans especially, took her reasoning after the year or so of dealing with everything Earth had to throw at her. She can't say she was too shocked to see Alva run after her for besmirching a supposed 'gift'. It allowed her to protect and defend in the same stroke it allowed others to destroy and sow chaos. She just took in the roasted notes with a deep breath and nodded.
"It perhaps wouldn't be so bad if the disparity weren't so great. But it's only grown in the past year or so."
She rolled the cup in her grip once to swish its contents around before taking a heartier drink now. Letting the rush get her tired mind kicked back up into gear. The kami would eye a television in the shop's upper righthand corner, above the bar's counter. Right now, just normal weather and daily news populated its screen. But it was rarely like that nowadays.
"I... Well, we can't be everywhere. And it shows. Have you seen the moon at night? Battle Island? There's... a lot we can't keep safe so easily. And I can't be everywhere at once to make sure it stays that way. At that point, the average person is hoping their benevolent savior has a bigger gun than the enemy. And a lot of times, we don't. Pretty much all of these attacks aren't armies headed by some foreign power as an act of war. These are individual acts. Groups with hidden agendas, at most."
She was half right, and in a way, she probably didn't realize. The redhead looks onward at that screen for a while before relenting with a sigh. Shaking her head and pulling back to Alva with a smile.
"But we live in a world where these powers do exist, so it's best to prepare ourselves to our fullest capabilities, no? - Oh! How's the coffee?"
There's a lot of baggage behind why she'd even consider wishing anything away. She wasn't ashamed of her gifts in reality. She just hates that it's all necessary.
