Ah, the mysteries of Ki, forever unavailable to Dosu. He had grown to hate it out of spite, due to his inability to produce any speck of it. However, for his people it wasn’t too uncommon. Both his brother and sister were able to use it, with varying degrees of mastery. Only poor Dosu had never managed to succeed at this fundamental ability, granting him a reputation of good-for-nothing. Now that he was seeing other races being able to use it, he wondered if some were in the same boat as him.
“You must be super strong, then. This is no ordinary feat. Back home, we call this life force. I’ve never been really good at any of this, to be honest. Though, it’s not like I really need it either. Usually, top warriors and shamans are the ones who devote their time to master this. I think it’s just fancy tricks made to look good.”
He then shrugged, trying to cement the fact that he could be very strong without it as well and that he was not jealous at all. He would not elaborate further on that matter either. That pesky Erebos was using all those complicated words, but he’d just half-listen to her while biting down on that snake. She did call him a “village person”, though since it really was the case, he didn’t think too much about it. He listened as everyone told their tales, finding similarities with his own experience despite entire worlds setting them apart. Glacier did mention something that got Dosu to think, pointing out the fact that all four of them gathering on this night may not have been a coincidence. He didn’t really believe in destiny or fate. It was just something that happened and it had no further meaning. After all, the Heran could very well be twisting everyone’s neck here should they try something weird on him. Even weirder than that was Erebos.
“Wasting your time? I don’t like people like you. All these fancy words and confidence, trying to pretend to be above us. I wonder if that air of superiority would stay as I crush your throat!”
He spoke while looking at the fire, then at his snake on a stick. He might have been the dumbest of all, sitting around that fire, but he had been around the jungle a few times in his life. He’d faced threats and cocky bastards alike. Everytime, he was disappointed.
Voicing a threat did not mean he would act on it, either. Despite his tendencies, the Heran was very forgiving and did not enjoy gratuitous violence, as it was meaningless.
He gave the goat person a soft hit with his elbow, followed by a laugh.
“That was a joke! I still don’t like you, though and you piss me off a bit.”
That kind of banter was commonplace, sort of a cultural thing on Hera.
“Glacier may be right, but I think you’re scheming something. Right, Bing?”
