The quiet early morning rolled on peacefully. Despite the danger lurking around every corner, it seemed that today, all was well. A silent agreement between the inhabitants to take things slow and rest. Winter was soon upon them, after all— no need to waste precious energy terrorizing one another.
However, not everyone in the jungle was a native. Not every soul who crunched leaves and cut through brush was aware of this pact.
Sitting next to the embers of a dying flame was Bing Gan. The young warrior, though experienced in the ways of combat, was a novice when it came to the world at large. To him, it was all a wonder, and so, when a large wolf-man happened upon his camp to inquire what he was doing out here, Bing had attacked.
Now, the wolf-man’s head was lodged through a tree trunk, stars undoubtedly dancing across his vision. The single strike that tossed him caused a nasty rumble, awakening the birds and sending them into a stir above the canopy.
Bing himself seemed rather nonplussed. Thumbing through a leather-bound journal, he placed a thumb between two pages, grabbing a rather well done piece of snake meat off the fire and taking a bite as he read along. This was the wolf’s diary, or perhaps his journal? Bing wasn’t sure there was a difference, but reading it might help uncover the truth behind the creature’s actions.
In the tree line, something loomed. A great shadow, teeth bared, waiting for its moment to strike…
There was a sudden flare of Ki, and another, larger wolf-man found his own noggin firmly lodged in the very same tree.
”What’s with these guys…?”
He asked the question aloud, mostly talking to himself, as he flipped through a few more pages. All in all, this wolf seemed like a normal guy. Why would he attack so suddenly?
But, little did Bing know, yet another shadow began to loom…
