What Do You Mean No Mosh Pit? (OPEN)

“Me too! Sure beats getting put into the ground after one hit!”

Back home, this was his daily routine. Not that his siblings were particularly violent with their “training”, which was nothing more than bullying at this point, but the gap in their strength was so much that all he could do was take some hits without being able to dish out anything of his own. At least here, he had managed to get one good attack. Sure was a nice change of pace.

‘Oh boy, she’s still that fast after that attack? Man, it’s starting to get annoying.’

Dosu was a patient man. He had to be, given his position as a hunter. He could wait for days lying in ambush for a prey to come by. This situation, however, was completely different. He knew it was in its grasp. He could land a hit! Yet, every assault ended up in failure. At this rate, he would be the first to tire out and that would be no good.

Eventually, she found herself past his guard, launching herself upwards to strike him with an uppercut. Looking down as she came upwards, a glint appeared in his eye. He had found it.

‘Now!’

The uppercut struck him right in the jaw and his head reeled back from the hit. One eye closed from the impact but the other, still very much alive and fixated on her, remained unshaken. His hand in a claw shape, he swiped at her face in the same instant as she landed her uppercut. He held back on it all that while, but this was the true purpose of Ignorance. A swipe at the face, meant to blind the opponent. Now that he had seen his chance, his instincts kicked in and he did not miss the small window that offered itself to him.

Once he had attacked, he stumbled back a few steps, the full shock from that uppercut making him lose his focus in the end. He held his chin, still intact and moved his jaw around to make sure nothing was broken. After that he looked at her, wondering if his attack had landed or if it was another fumble.

Dosu felt his swipe hit nothing but air. So much for him trying to apply martial arts in this fight. He wondered why he kept trying using them when it never worked. There was a reason he always dodged training sessions. What good had this ever been to him? Sure he was called a lazy bum because of it, but it certainly was better than trying to master some useless techniques.

Looking upwards still after the uppercut, he only saw her flash him a wink before slamming down on his face, a loud cracking noise reverberating throughout the stadium. He remained still for a while, not making a sound, as if frozen in place before falling down face first with a huge thud.

‘Well,I shouldn’t bother thinking about all that stuff right now.’

He stood there, motionless for a while. A small puddle of blood formed under him, from his head and face. In truth, he was fine, as fine as Dosu could be taking severe amounts of beating. He just wanted to see if she would make another move right away and perhaps bait her into thinking he was out cold. Nearly a minute passed before the Heran himself grew tired of waiting.

‘I guess that’s all.’

With unsettling ease, he rose from the ground, his bloodied face now completely painted red. His nose had been broken, prompting the Heran to reset it in place just so he could breathe better whenever it would stop being clogged by blood. Putting it back produced another cracking sound, sure to disgust some of the more sensible stomachs.

“You know hitting my face like that won’t make me any dumber, right?”

She did have a penchant for hitting that particular area, after all.

‘No need to think, just go with the flow.’

He resumed his fighting, this time completely losing his previous fighting stance. Having no real stance meant his attacks were harder to predict, but also lost some of their strength. On top of that, though it was still less than hers, he had grown faster as a result of the injury received. He attempted a front kick, followed by a single left hook. He did not aim anywhere precisely, just at her general direction.

Of course he was alright! If she was worried about the blood, it would come off as soon as he washed himself. Broken nose? Give it a week and it’d be brand new. That was the true terror about the Heran. He had been used to much worse beatings on the regular and as far as he remembers, pain had never been an issue for him. The only three things that would get him out of commission were knocking his lights out at the very beginning of a fight, breaking his bones to the point where he couldn’t move (and even then…) and finally, blood loss. Given Striker’s attacks so far, the only thing he had to be aware of was the latter. However, he was still far from the point where he had to worry.

He had forgotten about most of the people around and even the music playing. It showed just how invested he was in this fight, especially as someone who is always aware of his surroundings. He managed to get a few hits in, catching her off-guard at first, but she picked up the pace again. She didn’t seem too sure, however. After all, it wasn’t a serious battle. He stopped himself for a while.

“You good? If you’re scared of a little blood, we can stop here.”

He put his hands on his hips, wondering for a moment why everyone else appeared a little worried.

“What’s wrong? Looks like you guys have seen a ghost or something, haha!”

He licked his upper lip, chasing away the blood that had been dripping down. He pointed at his face.

“Is it because of that? Come on, that’s nothing! I bleed because flesh tends to rip when you hit it. But it’s not like it hurts or anything.”

Perhaps some convention about these kinds of fights eluded him still. He pondered for a while, waiting for an answer.

Aside from the showmanship, she was quite the businesswoman! Feeling her image would get impacted, she had put a stop to the fighting. Unfortunately for her, this meant little for the Heran who didn’t care much for public opinion. What’s more, it would take far more then that to put him down. In an effort to set her worries to the side, he reassured her.

“Hah! Don’t worry about that! You’re a lot faster than me but you don’t pack enough of a punch to do lasting damage! You had a good chance at the beginning, but I got used to your hits.”

His smile and tone weren’t provocating in the slightest, instead, it served to drive home the fact that she didn’t have to worry. He had been used to much harsher beatings on a daily basis and a good night of sleep was all that it took to make him as good as new.

The crowd invited them to fight once more and Striker acted upon it, jumping and attacking at his chest. With deft, he managed to sway his body to the side, evading the hit. He riposted with a quick one-two combo of straight punches. She was a tricky one to fight. Despite her speed, the fact that she stayed in the form of a ball most of the time when attacking meant he wouldn’t be able to blind her or give himself an advantage over her.

He dashed backward, hiding behind a cement column. Punching it, he sent a flurry of shrapnels to assail the smaller alien, trying to figure out how he could get the upper hand on her. Suffice to say, with the damage he had received, thinking was getting more and more complicated.

Feeling the electricity in the air, the band picked it up with music once more as the fight resumed. Swinging in her direction, he was met with a series of dodges on her part. Despite his best efforts, he reverted back to his more primitive instincts, which included damage of property. Using the terrain to his advantage was a fair strategy, was it not? He did manage to stall her for a short time, but that wouldn’t give him much of an advantage, far from it. It would only block his line of sight as her small frame could hide behind of chunks of concrete. Inadvertently, he had stretched his senses nearly to their maximum, trying to pick up cues that his eyes couldn’t perceive. Changes in sound, feelings on his skin, subtle changes in smell. He cut off the crowd from the information he registered, failing to hear the police sirens echoing in the distance.

Finally, he saw her coming from behind a chunk and dashing for his legs.

“Bwahahahaha! Is my head not good for you anymore?”

Not quite fast enough to dash towards her, he could still react in time to prep a counteroffensive. Practicing his best soccer kick, he took his swing, placed his weight on his right foot and gave her the strongest kick he could muster at this moment. It packed quite a punch, maybe enough to send her flying away, and surely enough to cancel out her attack. Pressing on, he attempted to kick a few more times, completely fixated on her. His tongue was out, he appeared on the verge of crazy, his lightheadedness combined with his strange physiology giving him a solid high.

“Faster! Faster!”

This was the best! However, with the police closing in on their location and his recent problems with the authorities on Earth, he should probably have to snap out of it soon and make his exit.

If that was a kick to the goal, then he must’ve scored! He watched as she pinballed across the arena, Dosu laughing heartily as she ricocheted off the different surfaces and obstacles in her path. Not that he was realizing it in this particular moment, but given his expression, it was probably the most fun he had while on this planet! Who knew that fighting with no stakes could be so liberating? Now, this wasn’t something he was used to, quite the opposite. Perhaps this would be the only time he got to do this. That’s why he allowed himself to let loose and just have fun with it.

“A round of applause for me! The legendary Dosu!”

A few cheers here and there, but the crowd had a clear favorite in Striker. Not that strange since she was the star performer on this fine evening. She could evade his additional kicks, seemingly on the backfoot there -or backball-, but this was only a trap! After dodging him again, she jumped in the air, delivering a powerful kick to his face. Surprised, but not totally, he managed to steel himself before the kick landed, dislodging his already broken nose and causing another spurt of blood to escape his nose. His back arched a good seventy-five to eighty degrees before stopping before falling.

“Gotcha!”

Closing his arms around Striker, Dosu went for the bear hug, trying to crush her smaller frame with the strength of his arms. Some fans must’ve been feeling a little jealous from this newfound proximity between the two, but the Heran just couldn’t settle for a few hits to the face and an autograph.

Using all of his strength, he attempted to break her arms and ribs.
