With some difficulty Tarine had eventually reached what he believed was the Tuffle-owned sector of Plant. With most of his knowledge of the planet being sourced from whatever he could glean from Earth media outlets, the sights had remained mostly foreign to him, which was why it came as a pleasant surprise to have found himself in a place that looked so... earthlike.
Well, not entirely… the trees and plants were more a bluish shade, but it was close enough to see the resemblance... he didn’t think he’d been separated from Earth nearly long enough to start missing it but it was almost… comforting? It gave him something to think about- he didn’t know… maybe after he’d found someplace that could take him to Hatchi and he got his affairs in order he’d find an excuse to come back.
Unfortunately while he certainly didn’t mind the location, his present enjoyment was hampered by Plant’s… other features. While not as bad as when he landed, the intense gravitational pull was still wreaking havoc on his biology. While his ki fought to empower his muscles enough to allow him simple locomotion, even a walking pace was enough to get his heart hammering away in his chest as it attempted to continue pumping his blood against much stronger forces than it was evolved to do.
Understandably then, the occasional break was in order.
Shockingly an ill-prepared for, paranoia-driven trip wasn’t ideal in the best of times, and if Tarine could have seen himself, he might have been more inclined to agree. Putting an estimate on his time since arrival, he had to have been here for a max of a few days- it was arguably a miracle he got this far already, but frankly several days of minimal sleep, food and the occasional Saiba nipping at his extremities was more than enough to leave him looking rather haggard to an outsider’s perspective… combining that with hypergravity-induced circulatory issues then he was probably a shade or two paler than what he should have been… certainly not a good look on Earth but he could probably pass as some poor scavenger venturing out of the wastes for bluer pastures.
The much more pressing concern on this pseudo-Tuffle’s mind however was getting the minimal amount of rest needed to steady his heartrate and laboured breathing down to something more manageable- to that end he'd leaned up against a tree for support, one arm up against the odd silvery mottled bark while the other was running through the sweat and grime he'd been gradually accumulating in his hair over his short visit. He hadn't been focusing on anything in particular, eyes vacantly staring a hole into the ground- until he caught the flash of something bright in the corner of his vision.
The moment made his mind snap back into focus. His face frozen on a look of bewilderment until he had the wits and common sense about him to look up, and he saw- he saw oranges?
Well... no- oranges didn't grow on blue trees, but they looked damn similar. Honestly, had he not spent the last couple days effectively homeless and almost starving himself then he might have been willing to inject a whole lot more reason into his argument against- but hunger unfortunately overwrote any other points that would have carried a hint of common sense and almost too eagerly he ripped one of the nearest fruits down. He was vaguely aware the skin was much harder and leathery on this fruit than its apparent counterpart but he was too far in to be deterred, already digging his nails into the skin and attempting to rip chunks off.
When he got down to about half the peel clinging on he seemed satisfied, and in a display that would have got people back home staring, took a large bite out of the exposed segments of his so-called orange.
That was a mistake.
Instead of getting a flood of citrusy goodness, he was instead met with something acidic, medical even, exploding into his mouth and clinging to every surface. In shock he gasped, immediately dropping the "orange" and kicking it away in his mix of disgust and panic while doubled over gagging and trying in vain to scrape the sticky solution off his togue with his hands.
