Jingle Village was a quaint, quiet town of year-round festiveness. Remote, isolated, and holding little of value, it passed beneath the notice of most people. The town square's famous 'never-freeze' fountain rippled ominously, the very air seeming to twist and distort from an unseen force. In a flash, two strokes cut apart the fabric of reality, loosely forming an 'X' before bursting inward, a red armor-clad figure tumbling unceremoniously from the portal and falling into the fountain proper. "Hey! You can't just-!" Without warning, the gateway snapped shut, leaving the otherworldly intruder sitting grumpily in the icy water. "Frick."
A few wintery pedestrians turned to stare at the commotion, Chervii suddenly releasing they were SOMEWHERE. "Ah! I mean... FOOLISH EARTHLINGS!" Clambering from the fountain with as much dignity as they could muster, Chervii puffed their chest out and swept a hand over all three people present. "Rejoice! For I have come to graciously claim this settlement in the name of the Coryndyrs! Please hand over control to me immediately!!" The Earthlings, of course, did not take this seriously. One wandered off, head shaking in amusement. "H-hey! Come BACK! I'm being very serious!" Surely five hundred Kili was enough to get more than a cold shoulder from the average citizen... unless... they couldn't sense it?
"Allow me to demonstrate!" A beam of crimson energy shot upward, branching off and cloaking the entire village in a momentary shroud of red. Nothing was destroyed, but the force was enough to unseat mounds of snow from rooftops and stumble some Earthlings out and about. "See! That is only a fraction of my power. I advise you to submit immediately or call forth your greatest warrior to do battle!" While it wasn't quite as impressive, defeating a powerful foe would surely earn Chervii the glory they sought.
A small crowd had gathered, murmuring among themselves as the threat was finally taken seriously. Chervii preened. "That's more like it. I know you-" Pausing momentarily to peek at a slip of parchment, the Demon continued: "-MORTALS are in awe, but fear not. I plan to be a just ruler! ...Now, then, I have no clue what you people do. Have you something to show me?" A jacketed man stepped forward. A steaming foam cup was presented; Chervii took it and examined the drink curiously. They held it up to their gem-like helmet, inexplicably tasting a sample of the confection.
"Oh. That's actually kinda good! Er, I mean... NOT BAD! You have much potential! Can I have the rest?" The Earthling shrugged confusedly, Chervii taking the gesture as a yes. "Rightio then, guess I'll wait to see if any warriors come to stop me." A cushiony chair of blackened wood and red velvet formed before the would-be conqueror; Chervii sank into it appreciatively. "You guys can... do whatever. I'll be here."
