Thanks to the wonderful technology he'd stolen and installed in his ship, Kabe was recovered from the injuries he'd sustained battling Dion aboard the retrofitted junk ship... mostly. Though the surface level injuries had been quickly tended to with the dermal regenerator, healing fluid and stimulated blutz therapy, the internal and emotional wounds of the battle still lingered.
While things with Dion had been... interesting after they both had awoken, he was recovered. Mostly. This was reason enough for Kabe to feel uneasy as he walked the surface of Plant.
But, with a new political order on the rise with whatever had happened at the palace during their fight to defend a weapon of mass destruction, a sudden attention to his actions being drawn by several in the pirating community as he'd fought alongside a prominent figure in the saiyan military, and the black shadow of his father still looming, the injuries were the least responsible for his unease.
He'd decided though, that he would properly meet with those he'd fought 'alongside' in that battle, though. Brave saiyan warriors, perhaps emboldened by the brash stupidity that saiyans had, that had come to tussle in an engagement without any real hesitation. The first of these on his list, one of three summoned directly by his uncle to the scene - Lottus.
Just who was this bloodthirsty, violent warrior? A deranged soldier without a war to fight? A tuffle experiment gone wrong? A mercenary like K4? This, he would find out.
With his signature locked in on the scouter, Kabe approached, Bee by his side. If this came to blows, something that had happened often when meeting saiyans, he'd hope to teach Bee a thing or two about fighting so that he could fare better next time they were caught in a situation like they'd had with Dion.
"Hey!" He called out, spying his target.

Lottus had come back to the Mercenary town, and found it much the way he'd left it. Several destroyed buildings, damaged roads, and smashed up vehicles. His brief tussle with Rhapsody Shade had seen to that, but the dark patches along the road and soaked in the dirt spoke of his actions after Rhapsody had lost consciousness.
He had taken her sword, and slaughtered dozens of mercenaries. Saiyans, aliens, everyone; there had been plenty of survivors, of course. He hadn't killed everyone. Just enough to satisfy his unsated bloodlust at that time. But without a way to properly occupy himself, Lottus had begun making a point of testing just how much the price on his head was worth.
Coming directly to the town where most of the hunters that had dogged him for the last five years, and beating down anyone that DID happen to dare to try and claim his head, had become almost a game to Lottus. Especially now - his injuries had finally healed, leaving a horizontal scar slashed across the top of his chest, just above the X shaped scar the hybrid Dark had given Lottus not long before.
And so, once again, the town had become besieged by this particular Saiyan. With his strength not only restored, but greatly enhanced, the scene was what one likely should expect. One mercenary can be seen smashed through a vehicle roof, the metal folding around them from the impact. Legs and arms poke out from rubble, and numerous mercenaries can be seen strewn about the street. Some of them appear to be other Saiyans as well.
Lottus had a badly beaten mercenary, a teal skinned humanoid with fin-like ears, pinned under his right foot as he presses down on their chest. But rather than finish off the mercenary, Lottus had been content to just wait - he had sensed an approaching power - a great one. But it wasn't Vocado, or anyone else of that level. But he had felt that source before.
When the voice rings out behind him, Lottus lifts his foot off the injured mercenary, and turns halfway towards the source. A wide, vicious grin spreads across Lottus' face, and the mercenary tries to scramble away. Without looking at the alien, Lottus raises a hand and fires a crimson blast at them, effectively evaporating them in a near instant - and he'd never taken his eyes off Kabe.
"I seem to be pretty popular today." Lottus says, his hoarse, rasping voice loud enough to reach Kabe and Kay Bee. He turns fully to Kabe, looking the Saiyan over appraisingly. "I remember you... One of Vocado's soldiers, I assume? Is he getting irritated with my... workouts, out here?"

Here in the mercenary town, scouters tended to get updates on the latest bounty information for targets in their vicinity. A mercenary trick he'd learned about — and hacked into to abuse to his advantage — several years ago around raiti zacro. With Lottus' face now in view while in that range, Kabe's scouter automatically picked up that data and slapped it in front fo him:
Target ID: Lottus. BOUNTY: 544,000z
Kabe had been ready to shoot the blue alien dead, but had been beaten to the punch. Vocado kept good company. "Wouldn't call myself a soldier." Kabe laughed at the idea, and brought himself down to Lottus' level. "We're family, that's all; never was a fan of the saiyan military very much. Not a big fan of... workouts like this." He gestured to what carnage already existed beforehand, and what fresh hell Lottus had razed.
Kabe watched as an ex-military tuffle merc lunged out of the woodwork, rifle drawn and poised to shoot at Lottus. Kabe, much in the same fashion as Lottus, turned his arm toward the tuffle and shot him dead without his eyes leaving Lottus' own. "Always check your corners. With a bounty like yours, you're going to start drawing the attention of non-rookie hunters soon enough."
He looked around, and withdrew his sword from his throat like a reverse sword-swallower. "How do you know Vocado, anyhow?" He asked, a few more bounty hunters appearing around. He found fighting together with someone often revealed a bit about them.

Lottus had stood stock still as Kabe floated down, landing not too far away. He raises a brow at the Saiyan revealing that he was related to Vocado - a surprise, to be sure. He heard the movement away to his side, and had enough time to just look at the Tuffle mercenary before a blast put an end to that particular nuisance. Lottus smirks toothily at the falling merc, and looks back at the other Saiyan.
"Oh, I think we're going to get along well." Lottus chuckles. He shrugs his shoulders at Kabe's remark. "The place makes for good exercise, if nothing else. Getting shot now and then just makes the game more fun."
He senses the other mercenaries as they started getting new backbones, and began to come into view all around them.
"I do hope some of the better veterans start showing up. Knocking heads has its fun, but prey is better when it can fight back." Lottus chuckles darkly. When Kabe pulls the blade out of his mouth, Lottus makes a face, completely confused as to how that was possible. At first, Lottus thought the Saiyan was going to come at him with the sword - but the Saiyan focuses on the growing number of mercenaries instead.
"Vocado? Oh, we go a ways back." Lottus replies, walking nonchalantly towards Kabe and stopping only a few feet away from the Saiyan. "WAR is how I know him. I served with Vocado in a battalion during the last years of the war with the Tuffles. He was fun to harass back then, heh."
Lottus looks around at the mercenaries.
"...Not going to help them? They could use a handicap. And I could use a proper exercise." Lottus laughs. "Or shall we go right ahead and slaughter the lot of them?"

Oh, this guy was a hoot.
As the mercenaries came rolling in, Kabe had already knocked one or two flat on their ass when Lottus gave him a brilliant idea. Kabe was no stranger to helping bounty hunters, but given the motley crew that had assembled, they could use all the help they could get.
Hoisting two mercenaries overhead, he clattered them together, listening to the creak of their military off-cut plastoid armor as it stretched and cracked, and throw them toward Lottus. "Well if that's how you want it," Kabe pounced, kicking one of the mercenaries in the face and using it to launch toward Lottus driving his sword down from above.
If they caused enough chaos, maybe both their bounties could go up from it. Instead of picking one side or the other, Kabe would play against them both. Whether or not his sword strike hit, he would follow up with a condensed energy blast from his palm. "Let's have some fun with it!"

The other Saiyan had readily accepted the offer to fight with Lottus - and Lottus' gleeful grin stretches from ear to ear. When Kabe moved, so did Lottus. A number of the mercenaries try to rush them, and Kabe was more than capable enough to deal with them. Lottus intentionally allows them to get close, elbowing one across the jaw, and grabbing another by the head and slamming his forehead against their face.
Where Kabe shows aptitude in martial fighting, Lottus brutalizes his targets, preferring to grapple and snap bones at every opportunity. But he had seen Kabe coming in the corner of his eye, sword coming down to pierce Lottus. The wild maned Saiyan laughs with his excitement, and rather than dodge out of the way, Lottus raises a tight fist and slams his knuckles against the broad side of the blade as it comes down, forcing its trajectory away from his body.
Kabe's retaliation in the form of a Ki blast catches Lottus full in the chest - the burning Ki singeing his exposed neck and chin, and surrounding the pair of Saiyans in smoke. Lottus whips his left arm, the wind of the act blowing away some of the smoke immediately between him and Kabe. Eyes wide and full of an amused battle fervor, Lottus lurches towards Kabe - his right arm swirls with a crimson and black Ki that starts at his shoulder, and rapidly twists down his arm and coalescing into his closed fist.
Lottus rushes his fist forth, taking aim to crash his fist hard against Kabe's left cheek!

Kabe had seen hundreds of people counter or guard against Wildefang's vicious overhead swipe before. Countless more had dodged, or at least tried to. But never before could he remember seeing someone with the kind of rocks that Lottus had to have to punch the sword out of the way. Between that and the bloody carnage he left behind on each mercenary he touched, Kabe didn't know whether to be impressed or sick.
His blast landed, but he didn't have time to gloat. Quicker than most, Lottus was already back on the offensive with a ki-laden blow whipping toward him from his left arm. Kabe could have blocked for himself and kept a few tricks up his sleeve, and he would have — but Bee didn't give him a choice.
Lurching out from Kabe's mouth, a red-eyed insect in a shape vaguely resembling a younger Kabe burst forth, swallowing the energy from Lottus' blow and biting him hard on the hand with a crazed goblin chuckle. "Kehekheke!"
If Bee was anything like Kabe — and he certainly was — he loved a good fight. But something seemed off about him. The buganoid child was already on the offensive, swiping viciously at Lottus. Kabe had not called him out, not given him any context.
What was getting into him?
Grabbing him by the hair, Kabe tossed him toward a cluster of mercenaries to keep the lot of them occupied, Bee included. He turned back to Lottus, another blast charged in his hand. "Ignore the kid. He's... excitable." He lept forward, forcing his energy into a small Bas-seijin he'd plucked from the growing number of mercs and suffusing his ki into it. As he lobbed it toward Lottus, he leapt back knowing full well that he'd rigged the Bas to explode in a burst of ki. "This is between us!"

The creature popping out of Kabe's mouth was something Lottus was wholly unprepared for. When it bit down on his fist, anger welled fast in his chest - but before Lottus could try to crush the little thing, Kabe had tossed it towards a nearing group of mercenaries.
"The kid dies if it interferes again. Be sure to tell it that." Lottus snarls through clenched teeth. Kabe moves back, seizing and tossing a mercenary towards Lottus. Lottus, unaware of the danger, slams the back of his left fist against the flung body, intending to batter it away.
But the body suddenly detonates! The blast shoves Lottus to the right, making the Saiyan skid his boots along the ground to regain balance. For a moment, Lottus just grins, and then his rasping laugh rings out again.
"Oh, you are fun, aren't you?!" Lottus shouts, Ki once more curling down from his shoulder and coalescing to wreath around his hand. Though this time, it was not a fist - this time, Lottus raises his hand, and the swirling Ki looks as though a dark vortex had formed afore his palm.
The Ki becomes a ball crackling with black lightning, and suddenly flashes as the ball becomes a wide stream of energy, like a river of poisoned blood. The blast rocket fast towards Kabe, threatening to envelope the other Saiyan in a powerful explosion upon impact!

It was hard to have fun when someone threatened your kid.
Lottus seemed to be the type to try it, but unlike Dion some days prior, Kabe knew he had the strength to stop it if Lottus tried anything. But he could make sure he didn't get the opportunity. Lottus was brutal, but Kabe could be also. And he could enjoy it.
He laughed at Lottus as he braced the explosion, laughing in his angry battle delirium. "You should have seen your face!" He pointed, letting down his guard and chuckling heartily at Lottus as the blast of energy was readied and thrown his way. Kabe didn't move, or even flinch.
He simply went dead silent for a moment as the energy blast hit, and the crackle of lightning mixed with the kicked up dust formed the facade of a thunderstorm surrounding him. After a few moments, another laugh. And a lunge.
This time, his sword was not bearing down from overhead. Driving it through a mercenary that had gotten in the way, Kabe rammed it directly toward Lottus' stomach — a killing motion — not something he normally employed in a fight for fun. But something he suspected would bring immense joy to the battleworn lunatic in front of him.
The lunge came suddenly, and fast. Faster than the overhead strike from before had certainly been. But there was still enough time for Lottus to see the intent. His irritable expression became one of excited daring; and Lottus made no effort to evade the oncoming blade. Instead, he chose to test his timing - at the last moment, Lottus lurches to the side, allowing the blade to pass by him. The blade still cut a slit through the side of his armor, but not deep enough to pierce the flesh beneath.
Lottus brings his left arm down, slamming his elbow and arm against the outer side of the blade, and pinning it between his arm and left side. Grinning, Lottus grabs the top of the blade with his free hand, and pulls himself up, tucking his legs against his chest at the same time. Suddenly, his legs shoot out, aiming to drive the bottoms of his boots either against Kabe's chest or his face to knock the Saiyan back.
Smiling with the joy only battle could bring, Lottus would lurch forth, engaging in a flurry of melee strikes that bear no semblance of martial skill. Vicious elbows, harsh knees, and hard knuckles come in from any and all directions with no clear target; Lottus' battle style was not in martial arts, but in utterly mauling his targets - aiming to crack bone and crush cartilage.
"I've fought sword wielders already!" Lottus rasps, his eyes wild and filled with a violent glee as he continues trying to brawl with Kabe. "Come! Show me what you can do!"

Lottus was quicker than he looked. Kabe could see now his decision to punch the sword out of the way was not due to an inability to dodge it's deadly swipe, but to prove that he didn't need to. At the very last second, when certainty had already taken root in the pirate's mind, the maddened soldier had side-stepped, gripped the blade and driven a boot directly into Kabe's face.
"Dirty..." Kabe groaned, gripping his face as he stumbled back empty of hand now that he had been separated from his sword. He acted as though the trick had pissed him off, but in truth this kind of surprise was the thing that he lived for in battle. Violence, brutality and gluttony were all well and good, but Kabe enjoyed fights the most where his opponent couldn't be predicted.
His sword was indestructible, so he had no concern about it's safety being left on the battlefield beside Lottus. If he wanted a fist fight, he'd get a fight without the sword. But Kabe was quite literally filled with tricks, and as he lept into the air, he shouted toward Lottus. "If you want to see what I can do, take this!"
Spewing forth from his mouth, a devastating wave of energy coupled with shrapnel, random greebles and objects, and nearly a decade of stolen weaponry layed waste to a dozen mercenaries in it's spread as it headed toward Lottus, several more being tossed into the path of the blast by Bee, who was being particularly ruthless in battle today.
Lottus grinned as Kabe stumbles back from the impact if his kicks, landing deftly and lifting Kabe's sword.
"This is a kind of cleaver, isn't it? You won't need this for a fun fight." Lottus remarks flipping the blade to catch it by the hilt. He drives the blade deep into the ground, and steps away from the sword. He had no use for weapons - he vastly preferred the thrill of bare knuckle brawling.
He follows Kabe with his eyes as the latter leapt into the air.
"Let's see it then!" Lottus shouts back, raising his arms wide at either side. He smiles and laughs as the black roils forth from Kabe's mouth. He'd never seen such... what, magic? The bright gold blast of Ki was actually filled also with innumerable objects and weapons - there was simply no words for it.
Rather than move to escape the blast, Lottus holds his ground. He swings his arms forth, catching the blast in his hands! The blast and shrapnel shove Lottus back, carving ruts in the ground; but he eventually catches himself, and halts his backwards push. Lottus grits his teeth, and grins wildly as he pulls back his right arm, actually holding back the attack with his left hand, and swings his right fist crashing into the blast, knocking it into the ground!
The explosion around Lottus is bright, and searing with its heat. For a long moment, there is only the sight of a crater, belching out plumes of thick smoke. Like a beast from the night, Lottus appears through the flames and pluming smoke, unharmed.
"Now that is more like it!" Lottus laughs, vile crimson and black Ki swirling down his arm and enveloping his right fist again. "More! Show me MORE!!"
Like a monster from hell, Lottus blasts off the ground, flying fast towards Kabe. He engages Kabe in a swift melee first, and with the last blow, he aimed his Ki wreathed fist in an uppercut aimed to ram hard into Kabe's stomach!

Sometimes, no matter how interesting or creative the walls you erect are, brute force with a blunt hammer busts them all down anyway. Kabe was beginning to feel that this was the kind of thing people thought to themselves when fighting Lottus. Either that, or 'oh god, my limbs! he's snapped my precious limbs!' And there was nothing wrong with that either. A blunt instrument could be just as impressive, in the right circumstance.
And as the entire wad of energy and garbage that raged against Lottus was punched into the ground and endured by an ultimately non-plussed Lottus, Kabe found himself definitely impressed. It almost marked his annoyance. If there wasn't much banter, besides a craving for ever-escalating violence, and there wasn't any dirty tricks to play against, Kabe would have to find another way for this battle to amuse him.
Perhaps he could give Lottus a taste of his own medicine.
Instead of moving out of the way, Kabe stood firm and felt the blow dig deep into his stomach. It hurt like all manner of hell, but he simply grit his teeth, and smiled. "Nice trick!" He called, before ramming his head toward Lottus own now that he was close enough to really ring his ears with it.
Whether or not it set him off balance, would follow with a vicious right hook, conserving his energy both to keep himself ready for anything, and so that he could truly enjoy the slap of bone and flesh in each strike.
His fist hit home, and sank deep into the gut of Kabe, or at least as far as the other Saiyan's armor would allow. But, interestingly, Kabe remains in place despite taking the full force of the blow. Lottus looks Kabe dead in the eyes, and smiles gladly at the other Saiyan's resilience. But before Lottus could reply to Kabe's snark, he sees the other Saiyan rearing his head - and rather than take the coming blow on the face, Lottus swung his head forward at the same moment, the two Saiyans' colliding foreheads together.
The blow rattles Lottus' head, and he practically felt his eyes shake in their sockets. Still stunned by that blow, Kabe's follow up punch lands squarely on Lottus' left cheek. The force of the blow causes Lottus's head to snap away, the rest of his body following suit with several spins before Lottus manages to stop it. Blood trickles from his lips and down his chin and neck, but Lottus just turns back to Kabe.
"You know, you're starting to remind me of Vocado." Lottus says, smirking. "We went a few rounds back during the war - you're a lot like he was back then. Willing to take a hit, so you can give it back... Like a true Saiyan should!!"
Lottus laughs heartily at that, and settles into his fighting stance.
"But let's see if you have the same threshold for pressure that he does." Lottus challenges. He rockets back to Kabe, and feigns an overhand hammer punch, but suddenly twists his body into a harsh rising knee aimed to strike Kabe hard on the chin. "Don't let me compare you to Vocado! Show me why I should remember your name!!"
Post by Captain Kabe on Oct 3, 2022 15:28:45 GMT -5
Kabe took the compliment — being compared to Vocado — in stride. That willingness to grit your teeth and get your shit rocked just to give it back in turn was a byproduct of the Bonewood's unspoken creed, to fight no matter the odds and to give no quarter in battle. It was very saiyan. But, to Kabe, this was beyond saiyan battle lust.
He didn't need Lottus to tell him to set himself apart from Vocado. Kabe had a want to do that all on his own — they shared a resolve, yes. But Vocado was very saiyan, and he held that fact about himself in high regard. Kabe was alien to that idea, and was only getting to know himself as a saiyan truly.
He decided to let his years of dealing with underhanded rats in the pits of raiti zacro take the wheel, and Lottus feigned overhand swing was seen through completely. The harsh knee twisted in, and Kabe blocked it with a sharp elbow that deflected the knee flawlessly. "If you're going to feign your moves," Kabe called, readying himself. "You'll need more tricks up your slee-"
"Eat! Eat! Kehekheke!"
Kabe was cut short, as he watched a red-eyed Bee lunge toward Lottus, teeth bared and frenzied. In between his teeth, a growing blurble of chaotic energy bubbled towards the surface, ready to be unleashed directly in Lottus face.
