CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: (Ping me on Discord @riot Paladin for proof that I had this commissioned. The artist's page is NSFW, and I don't want to directly link it on the site.)
BACKGROUND: Fey is the daughter of not one, but two unsavory individuals. Her mother, also named Laufey, was a witch who practiced the mystical arts. Laufey was a purveyor and a student in all things occult and heretical, including that of the Demon Realm. Though merely a human herself, Fey's mother devoted most of her life to studying the elusive race of demons, never expecting to actually meet one. Even so, the woman was determined to find proof of its existence, and to gain both knowledge and power from the demonic energies they must have wielded.
Enter Demogorgon. Demogorgon was a Demon who masqueraded as a traveling merchant. Appearing human, Dem could often be spotted by his large top hat and old cane. At first glance he seemed harmless, nothing but a simple peddler of snake oil, and other charlatan products. In truth, Dem peddled trinkets and talismans embued with his power. He promised these trinkets and talismans would solve his buyer's needs: some wanted more strength, others charisma, and even other desired luck. Buyers would purchase these simple things, thinking their new acquisition would grant them their desires.
They didn't. Instead, they drained the wearer of their ki and genki. People would return to their homes with whatever they bought from Dem. After a few hours, they would feel woosy and drowsy, and decide to go to sleep. They wouldn't wake up. Whatever talisman they wore, it would drain them dry in their sleep, and by morning they would be nothing more than a husk. And all their energy would be in the trinket they bought, which Dem would recollect, and absorb for himself.
Dem and Laufey met by chance. Once day, in a remove village to the North, Laufey happened upon Dem. Interested as she was in all things demonata, Laufey purchased a talisman from Dem. Later, as she returned to her hut, she became aware that the wood and leather strapped necklace she bought was actually draining her of her energy.
So, she took it off, and waited.
Early the next morning, Dem came to her home, assuming Laufey would have perished. To his surprise, she awaited him with tea and crumpets. Intrigued by the only Earthling to discover his tricks so far, Demogorgon sat down to speak with the witch. From an awkward conversation, understanding was birthed. Dem, although a demon, had very little power. Laufey, although a human, had enormous power for her species.
So a pact was made: with her knowledge of the occult, Laufey would assist Demogorgon with his sickening business, and in return, she would recieve the knowledge of the Demon Realm and demonic energies she had chased after for so long. For many years, this deal of theirs worked out just fine. Laufey and Demogorgon traveled the world, going from remote village to remote village, but avoiding the large cities. All the while, Dem sold his trinkets, killed his victims, and absorbed their energy.
Then, because of the wants of the flesh, but definitely not love, came a child: a little girl who would go by "Fey." Fey was born in the same village her parents first met, only a few hours away from Central City. She was born with incredible power, beyond that of Dem and Laufey both. Unfortunately for Fey, neither her mother nor father were really the parental type. Upon her birth, Dem immediately wanted to drain the child of her energy. Laufey, desiring an heir to suceed her, wanted to train Fey as a witch, so that she would carry on Laufey's studies.
Only a few days after Fey's birth, a fight ensued. It was bloody and brutal, and by its end, both Laufey and Demogorgon lay dead on the ground of their little hut. Fey was found in the morning by the rest of the village, her crib spattered with blood, and her parent's corpses only a few feet away on the ground.
Fey had no one in the world left to care about her, save for a single middle-aged man, named Dil. Dil was something of a doctor, who'd grown up in Central City, but had relocated to the village in order to practice medicine for people who needed it most. But, after seeing the carnage in Fey's home, the man was spooked. He packed his bags, and moved back to Central City. But, as scared as he was, Dil was not the kind of person to abandon a motherless child.
So, in an erratic decision, Dil adopted Fey, and took him with her.
Fey grew up in Central City with Dil, who was to her knowledge, her father. As a medical practitioner, Dil worked long hours, and so Fey didn't really see much of him. By the time she was ten, she was mostly taking care of herself, with monetary assistance from Dil. Though absent, he did provide for her: Fey always had food on the table, even if she had to make it herself. She always had clothes, and expensive brands at that, considering her father's salary. She even attended an private school, as opposed to a public one.
But money is no substitute for a parent, and despite Dil loving her as if she were his own, he was still absent. And so Fey began to act out. At first it was small; little things like getting in trouble with her teachers at school. That then turned into getting into brawls. That turned into falling in with the wrong people, and doing stupid things like breaking into stores, and stealing things.
As a teenager, Fey got into trouble a lot. Those "wrong people" she fell in with turned into a small gang. They vandalised Central City, graffiting walls and the like. They, as mentioned, were often caught breaking and entering. Fey only dodged juvenile detention centers thanks to Dil donating sums of money to the people she vandalised, and hurt. Yelling matches between Fey and her father became the norm, thanks to him having to deal with the fallout of her behavior.
It didn't stop her. Until one day, she hurt someone. Hurt them bad.
It should have been a small thing. A small school yard brawl between Fey and some trustfund brat turned into Fey accidentally stabbing the guy in his gut. With an icicle. In the middle of a heatwave. Fey was more confused, than worried, at first. She, of course, hadn't intended to stab anyone with anything. She was trying to sucker punch the man. But it didn't matter, because regardless of her intentions, she had just stabbed someone.
That night, Dil finally sat down and told Fey the truth. He told her about her mother, a terrible witch who aided a demon in his quest to drain people to husks. He told her about her father, the demon in question, a visitor from another realm who abused both his power, and the Earthling's relative naivety, to harm others. And he told her that she'd inherited a lot from both of them: Demogorgon's twisted energies, and her mother's abnormal power.
Fey was flabergasted, to say the least. She didn't really have time to sort her feelings on the matter though. A court case ensued, because Fey had actually stabbed a man. Fey lucked out. She hadn't started the fight, this time around, and her case was ruled in her favor as "self-defense." But she wasn't stupid: Fey knew her luck was up, and that next time she got into trouble, there would be actual consequnces.
After everything that had happened, and seventeen years of her father lying to her, Fey felt as if she had to leave. She'd caused Dil enough trouble. So on her eighteenth birthday, she left home, despite Dil being against the idea.
Fey was nothing more than a trouble maker, but really, anyone could find work as a clerk or a secratary. So Fey found herself a job, as a bookkeeper for a small time mechanic shop. It wasn't glorious, and one of the mechanics flirted with her more often than she'd like, but it paid enough to cover Fey's rent. Even if said rent was for a small studio apartment in a seedier part of town.
In the few months since then, Fey has kept her head down, mostly.
