CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE:
BACKGROUND:
A small planet full of life. Located near the outer rims of the known galaxy, this little life ball has a very active geological footprint. Landscapes change very frequently. For their size, this leads to many many varied biomes. And plenty of earthquakes as the planet shifts. A lot of animals, some familiar and others not so much, make their lives out here. Colloquially, they are referred to in a group as 'Critters', because the animals as a whole have a sort of loose collective connected to their planet. It's taking the whole 'Living Planet' to a whole new meaning. In these ways the creatures and their planets are intertwined. And for eons, the Universe left Fauxterra and its Critters alone.
It's unknown when exactly it occurred, but as the galaxy first grew tense, Fauxterra grew nervous. And in its attempts to protect itself and the life it harbored, it granted select Critters a large portion of its latent energy. These Critters awakened, gaining sapience and evolving past their simple animal bounds. These were the first Fauxbians. They would prove to be valuable guardians at the time they were required. But over the ages, and with these Fauxbians spreading through means not requiring Fauxterra, there grew a sense of independence and self-identity among many.
Nowadays, while still isolated and still the main point from where Fauxbians live, Fauxterra finds itself the most peaceful it has been in a long while. The last major conflict was decades ago, when a weak attempt to integrate the small planet was made by the Arcosian Empire. Even as Fauxterra is little more than some small villages and tribes. It's only city was made by off-worlders as the galaxy came into the space age proper, given the name Fulman Faux. With more and more native Fauxbians embracing the new tech, peoples, and planets, there was suddenly a slow but constant bleed of the small guys living off their mother planet and enjoying life in other ways.
Anthropomorphic creatures, varied in size and origin of features. They possess exaggerated proportions, with large hands, feet, heads, and faces compared to the general size of their body. In most cases, the animals they are based off of have very Earth-like origins, but that isn't necessarily always the case. There are a few known ways a Fauxbian comes to be:
Natural - Like any other species, they can reproduce. This is the most common nowadays, and their lifespans play out as normal.
Awakened - While on Fauxterra, a wild Critter can be awakened into a full-blown Fauxbian. Most of the time this is when they are young, children or teens, and evolve into their Fauxbian form to adjust to the appropriate age. They then live their life out as per normal.
Artificial - Offworld scientists have been able to recreate and force this 'Awakened' state without the need for Fauxterra (Or in some cases on Non-Critters). This usually results in wildly different specimens, some with unknown powers yet to be fully understood. Some of these may also be considered Bioandroids or Androids depending on level of extremity.
General Descriptions:
Height: Wildly varied depending on Critter the Fauxbian originates from. As small as 2', to as large as 9'. Most hover around 3'-3'6".
Weight: Varies by just about the same amount as the Height.
Critter Origin Types: Common - Mammalian, Avian, Reptilian; Rare - Amphibians, Marine, Nondescript/Mix
Naming Convention: One word, usually simple, that describes any of the following; An obvious physical trait, one of the ways they act, or something they excel in. This isn't necessarily a 1:1 in what they've done, or want to do, as Fauxbians can choose names on a whim if they feel like it. Due to the mother planet's very communal culture, Family names are not an important distinction to create. These names are usually either a Verb or Noun. Examples: Red (For, say, a red feline-adjacent Fauxbian), Desolate (A name adopted by a more malicious Fauxbian), Jack (As in Jacked, the Fauxbian is remarkably fit and strong).
While not a part of their name, some Fauxbians will be identified further by what animal characteristics they exude. Red the Cat, Desolate the Gecko, and Jack the Weasel are more examples. Rarely will they themselves put such definition behind their name though, as most do not care for what 'kind' of creature they are. This is more an outsider labeling them.
Striker grew up on Fauxterra as a child of a great and expanding guardian tribe, Filled to the brim with Rodentia and Eulipotyplan style Fauxbians. One of the largest outside the great melting pot of Fulman Faux. Her wants and desires were not among the planet's own though. The longer she waited around Fauxterra, the more she resented it. Finding it a boring place where things were just too quiet. Even the tourist city couldn't hold a spark to most reaches of the galaxy. With a simple farewell to her family, she hitchhiked inside a large cargo ship heading to Konats.
She'd land in the bustling modern city of Lux, where she grew into an identity of her own. There was so much to do, if only she had the money for it... The young fauxbian was forced to carve out her own place. Using her natural talent and skills to work among the shadier parts of the city. Quickly growing that underlying resentment most of the working poor did under the city's governance. How did she cope?
Striker found her love for music. A way to express herself and have some fun that didn't involve doming rowdy aliens. She eventually joined a band called "The Dead Presidents" as a lead singer. They and a few other bands had the tendency to hold rowdy and dangerous concerts, known to even hold massive fight pits while they played. If Lux authorities weren't always on their ass maybe they'd have more fun with it too...
Regardless, Striker lives as a free spirit, performing, thrashing, and dashing her way through life.
COMBAT INFORMATION
TECHNIQUES 6/6 + 2: You start with Three Standard Technique Slots and One Sparking Slot that you can use any way you like. Some species start out with additional slots, or access to certain slot-based abilities for free. You also start with two additional Utility Technique Slots.
Light Offensive || High-Speed Beatdown
Baring down on a target, Striker revs up her strikes and continues forth, kicking and punching at absurd speeds. The momentum alone is sure to knock anyone around as the green blur piles on attacks.
Power: 20%
KP Cost: 1 KP
Variants: Ki Cost Reduction, +10% Power
Light Offensive || Spindash Bash
Curling up and spinning to gain the proper build-up of potential energy, Striker lets loose a sudden dash at their target. Letting speed and momentum carry them into a slamming attack on them. The impact leaves behind sparks of her green energy from sheer power.
Power: 40%
KP Cost: 2 KP
Variants: +10% Power x 3
Light Defensive || Crazed Evasive Manuevers
Be it on ground or in the air, Striker has a fairly easy time dipping in and out of ranger of certain attacks. With single or multiple uses, curled spinning action can be utilized to dash and move around certain attacks with ease. The small size and maneuverability of her ball form make it ideal for sticky situations.
Power: 60%
KP Cost: 2 KP
Variants: Evasive, +10% Power
Medium Offensive || The Striker Boot
Curling up and spinning to gain the proper build-up of potential energy, Striker lets loose a sudden dash at their target. Rather than let the energy all gather into a single strike using her spinning body however she instead unfurls at the last possible moment. Aiming a flying kick at her target. The speed at which point causes her body to shimmer and create after images, making the target feel like that boot was felt three separate times on its way into them.
Power: 70%
KP Cost: 4 KP
Variants: +10% Power x 4
Light Defensive Sparking || Surge Protector
In response to incoming attacks, Striker can call upon her Speed Force to create electricity in a hand. Quickly making a snapping motion with a finger and thumb to generate an erratic cascade of lightning out around her. Several randomly spread strikes out in the air. The fauxbian disappears with the snap and in the same flash reappears at the end of one of these many streaks, throwing off even quicker moving targets and attacks.
Power: 30%
KP Cost: 1 KP
MP Cost: 3 MP
Variants: Lightspeed, Ki Cost Reduction, +10% Power x 2
Support Technique || Boundless Momentum (MAX-Power)
Certain exceptional Fauxbians excel in not only going fast but staying fast. As one such critter, Striker can enter a state of focus on her power to maximally keep as much momentum as possible in her movement. The fauxbian starts leaving a bright streak of green behind her in this state. Keeping such speeds up invariably makes every hit slam harder, but no one can control such power with finesse. It's taxing on one's body over long periods and takes a precious moment to stop one's speed after it's initiated.
MP Cost: 1 MP per turn active. Cannot regain MP while active.
Variants: All Techniques +10%. Unable to use Evasive or Escape Techniques. Can be ended at the end of a post, except the one it's activated on.
Utility Technique || Nimble Critter of Fauxterra
Striker, like many of her peers, comes straight from Fauxterra. Having been given the living gift of the Speed Force from her mother planet. This manifests in her incredible speed relative to her current standing power. Non-KP attacks are avoided very easily, and KP attacks that deal 30% or less damage to the character can be treated in character as being evaded as well. The strain and loss of grit doing such maneuvers against these attacks effectively mean she takes the same mechanical damage regardless, however.
Utility Technique || Curl Up & Roll Out
The Fauxbian's unique size and proportions allow them to comfortably lower themselves into a rolling ball of death. The specific abilities differ slightly among the critters, but Striker's own is able to be charged and launch her forwards at exceptional speeds. They may not naturally have flying ability, but very little is truly out of their reach if given the right angle. Momentum can carry them to the skies.
