Tonight was a very peculiar night for Araka. Professor Paya had offered her car to him for the night since she had herself a date. Supposedly it was with some guy that works close to the President. Truthfully he could care less whom or what the professor did in her spare time. All that mattered at this moment was styling all night long.
The first place on the night he'd decided to hit up was a service station just outside of town. They were the only place that'd serve him while he was still underage. He scanned over the selection of beverages once he got inside. Casually, he reached for the six-pack of Hetap Spiked. After the fact, he grabbed himself a Buffalo Ranch Sparking Chips bag on his way to the front counter.
"Is this gonna be all for you?"
"Yeah."
"Hey, don't I know you?"
"Hm?"
At first, he wasn't paying much mind to the woman at the counter. He was too busy fiddling on his wrist with his tacpad, trying to perform some maintenance on Viper to save him time tomorrow. Taking his eyes off the tacpad moving them up to meet the woman's eyes. He'd been taken entirely by surprise by how gorgeous she was.
Araka gathered himself as to not make a fool of himself. This wasn't some cheesy RomCom about a guy by a total freaking chance meeting the woman of his dreams. No, that's not how the real world works, unfortunately. But he also couldn't recall where he'd seen her face, but she did seem awfully familiar.
"Yeah. Yeah. I do know you!"
Araka tilts his head with a cocked eyebrow.
"Uh?"
"You're Professor Paya's TA. Urraca right?
His face went stale.
The clerk sensed she had made a mistake.
"Araka. And I see a lot of Professor Paya's students. Sometimes more than she does."
"Oh well, that's gotta suck. Doing someone else's job all the time."
"It can be, but it is a small price to pay for the future."
He slides a few bills across the countertop.
She reels back, lost in thought it would seem.
"Oh! I'm sorry! Did you need a bag?"
"No. But I will take your name."
She was being sheepish. Trying to be cute.
"It's Sano."
He collected his things without paying her much mind after.
"Be seeing you, Sano."
He walked out of the service station with a smug look on his face. He did remember a Sano, and she definitely was a student of Paya's. He graded one of her papers not very long ago involving Multiverse Theory. He believed she highlighted that many of the cosmology illustrations were wrong. Dictating we existed among roughly eleven other universes and whatnot.
"Clever girl."
Araka hoped into the car, placing the six-pack of Hetap on the passenger floor. He cracked open one of them before starting the car and pulling off the lot. He didn't get very far when his tacpad began to beep. He didn't look at it, though; he just assumed it was some kind of update with Viper.
His assumption was correct, but he still ignored the flood of notifications. This was his night to have fun and enjoy himself more than usual. The next stop was a car meetup that he overheard other students discussing. While en route, he still was receiving constant notifications from Viper. Which he decided to finally respond to after 5 minutes.
"What the hell do you want."
"Master Araka, I've been trying to contact you."
"Yes, Viper, and I've been trying to ignore you."
"I apologize if I am interrupting, sir."
"It's fine. So spill the tea. Why are you blowing me up?"
"Well, sir, I've picked up two signatures in your area."
"Okay. Two signatures. What are their threat levels?"
"Threat Analysis indicates Pink. I simply wanted to ensure that you were safe."
"Well, I'm safe, Viper, no Pink level threats. Thanks for your concern."
