Dion wasn't sure whether to feel elated or dejected as he slowly began to see himself fade from relevancy in the midst of continued interaction within the group of people now gathered round the table- with Krim beginning to speak at length with Ward about their shared affinity toward the art of weapon aided combat, and as Creme Puff's own attention began to focus more on the two other persons as well. He seemed to, at least in his eyes, blend riiight into the background of everything. It was already hard enough for him to branch out to new people in the first place, how in the hell was he gonna manage breaking back into the conversation without making everything all awkward and disconnected-?
He definitely didn't have the slightest clue as to the art of sword fighting in comparison to the knowledge and experience that Ward and Krim seemingly had under their belts, what with Krim mentioning how her grandfather encouraged the cultivation of such technique, and with Ward already showcasing his extreme expertise through in depth analyzation of the little information that he had gotten from Kon's own weapon in hand.
Hell, the only person he could really even slightly relate to at the moment was the kid of all things- it appeared as though Dion wasn't at all exaggerating when having mentioned how much easier it was to interact with children in contrast to the majority of adults he had met within his life time. At least her motivations and approach toward battle he could sympathize and relate to- the other two just seemed so, deep in relation to himself?
Was that the anxiety, or the insecurity talking? Dion himself wasn't sure, but what he was sure about, was the inherent lack of confidence he now held in keeping in standing with the other three people he now sat down with in the midst of this conversation. How could he compete with these so much more knowledgeable fighters when he barely knew the basics of the fight game after nearly a decade of ignoring it in the first place in order to focus on putting food on the table for his-
Wait. Now that he thought about it, there was something in tandem to Creme's words that Dion could conjure up a connection with. It happened to be Krim's statement about her reason for getting into the world of weapon assisted martial arts that struck a chord somewhere deep within him. Keeping their family legacy alive through her actions taken.
"I, er..."
The young man hesitated, unsure of how much he really wanted to openly relate to. Though, he knew if he didn't speak on it then, he'd never open his mouth for anytAttehing meaningful when he needed to anytime soon.
So, with nerves running high and all, he spoke, saying as he looked right at Krim, "I, can, well, somewhat relate to that really- wanting to carry on your family's legacy in some way? My parents, well, they passed away when I was much younger. We weren't too well off, but, they always raised me with the hopes of achieving better. I-I suppose me being here today is a testament to what they want, and an extension of keeping their legacy alive like you are for your grandparent, in a way."
Realizing how deep and emotionally provocative he was now making this conversation, Dion flushed slightly, looking off to the side with an embarrassed expression upon his brow as he spoke in an apologetic voice, "M-my bad, I, really just made this discussion a whole lot heavier than it needed to be, didn't I? I-I suppose I need to practice reading the room a bit more too then, d-don't I..."
Attempting to try and divert some of the attention away from his somewhat oddly timed emotional display, the bartender began to pat Creme Puff on the head absentmindedly, choosing to take an apple or two into his own maw as well as he awaited for what Krim or Ward would have to say in response- since he didn't wanna say anything and potentially make things even more awkward than they were already building to be.
