Tarine’s day started like any other, he started by prying himself out of bed after practically cocooning himself in the sheets sometime overnight and groggily proceeded with the rest of his morning ritual.
With most of everything done he was left lazing around on the sofa idly munching on some toast. He was sure he had a training session with Portobello later… 10:30 she said? Earlier than he’d like but she insisted it was important so he eventually agreed. A bit of a damper on his morning but he still had an hour or so before he needed to leave, after all, it was only… he craned his neck to see the clock… 10am?!
That got him up, the redhead shot to his feet and was began scrambling to get shove everything he needed into his bag, a shirt- shorts? Better than nothing, he wasn't wasting money on expensive training gear he'd never use. Smelled alright too, they were going in. What else did he need? Uh... scouter! Next best thing to a phone, that was carefully placed in another compartment, he didn't want to scratch it after all. He was sure he had everything he needed, he could...
Wait- his food! He ran back, crammed the last piece of toast his mouth before bolting out.
He was distinctly aware how close the deadline was now, which was why Tarine’s first idea was to head straight for his trusty Jet Squirrel. Provided traffic wasn’t too bad the bike could get him where he needed to be with not a minute to spare.
…So why wasn’t it working? The key went in, the engine revved up, then it died again. He kicked it, it started... then died again. And again. Dammit, why now? He stepped down, feeling a very real frustration directed at the machine. Out of all the times… He glared down at the vehicle, there was a flash of orange ki as he brought his fist up.
Useless piece of…
Just as he was about to drive his fist into the metal and give the bike a real reason to break down he spied someone staring at him through the corner of his eye, surprising him and causing his rising ki to die down and return to normal. He tried to play off his almost-outburst by giving a nervous smile and opening his raised fist and giving a small wave. The stranger just gave him a strange look and walked off, Tarine sighed and shot one last look at the bike.
So that was why Tarine was now racing down a series of escalators and tunnels towards his next destination, he’d helpfully informed his mentor of the situation beforehand with a text via his scouter’s messaging system.
"Bike broke."
She’d understand.
Eventually he reached the train station, more accurately a tube station, this line was almost entirely contained to the a series of tunnels under the city. Now as much as he wasn’t a fan of sharing compact spaces with other people it was the quickest way around that didn't involve leaping over buildings like a madman.
The next train came in quickly with an accompanying rush of air, a few people stepped off, a few stepped on, him included. Things seemed quiet this morning as only about ten others came to fill the carriage, much less than he expected but it did mean he had the rare privilege of a seat which he was all too glad to scoot his way over towards and plant himself down. First rule of public transport maintained he respected their personal space of course so he tried to sit as far from the other passengers as possible and pay them no mind. He was left impatiently drumming his fingers against his knee and eying the doors, willing them to close sooner so they could leave.
