NAME: Kuro
ALIASES:
AGE: 22
GENDER: Female
SPECIES: Konatsian | Warrior Heritage, Keen Senses, Weapons Master
GENERAL TRAITS: Quick Learner, Self-Sacrifice
STARTING PLANET: Earth
HOME REGION: None yet
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: Kuro is a short Konatsian, like most Kashvar, standing at only 5 feet tall.
BACKGROUND: Kuro was born to the Kashvar on Konats, a distant sect of Konatsians constantly at odds with the others on the planet for generations. While she had siblings, and parents that quite dearly loved her and her brothers and sisters, their happy family was not meant to be. In a raid that came as a result of the rising aggression between the Kashvar and the traditional Konatsian states, Kuro's parents were killed, and she was taken from her home by a group of Konatsians under the King that aimed to take very young children from the Kashvar and indoctrinate them against their people. At this time, she was only around eight months old.
Kuro ultimately found herself under the care of a royal guardsman who took pity on the baby, and decided he would raise her not as a Kashvaran convert, but as a daughter of his own. While the man's wife didn't quite take to the idea as strongly as he did, she eventually relented and agreed to raise Kuro alongside him. Kuro was not told of her true heritage as she grew up, and instead was raised to believe she was a pure Konatsian like all her peers. As was tradition, she was raised as an heir to her father's position as a royal guardsman, one of the King's elite ward who were tasked with protecting his life at all costs.
The importance of the King's life was hammered in time and time again throughout Kuro's upbringing, as was his greatness. In the end, although her adoptive father had not set it out as his intention for her, Kuro grew to idolize the very regime that had taken her from her true people and murdered her parents. Kuro was entirely unaware of this throughout her upbringing, though there were still the telltale signs of a Kashvar with her: her hair and eyes, both black as an empty night sky, and a height not quite on par with that of her peers. However, she dismissed the rumors surrounding her and pressed on: How could she be a Kashvar? She had lived with her pure Konatsian family all her life.
When she was 18, Kuro was finally of age to be fully inducted as a Royal Guard - an esteemed member of the King's Ward, entrusted with the task of protecting the crown and whoever wears it at all costs. Kuro's foster parents, particularly her father, couldn't have been more proud of their daughter and the fine warrior she had become.
And then, it all came crashing down.
The storm that had been recently ravaging the planet grew fiercer, and accusations towards the Kashvar grew more intense. Kashvaran spies, heretics who opposed the crown, were being outed among the ranks of the knights of Konats, and the finger was eventually pointed at Kuro was well, for she showed all the telltale physical traits of one of them. Though Kuro was no Kashvaran spy, the truth of her heritage seemed unavoidable now, and her father prepared to tell her the truth. However, before he got the chance to... The King was murdered. And her father was killed in the attack.
The Royal Guard was left in complete disarray by the sudden attack, as was Konats as a whole. Other nobles had already been making power grabs, and this only increased their claims for the crown. Kuro herself was left both shocked and injured by the attack, and her foster mother, who, like many others, had come to believe it was a Kashvaran attack that had claimed the lives of the King and several of his men, disavowed her as her daughter and angrily revealed the truth of Kuro's birth.
Kuro, left shocked and confused by the deaths and revelations around her, did the only thing she could think to do: flee. Several other Konatsian nobles had departed from Konats amidst the chaos, and she sought them out, as each had their own claim to the crown. And, quite frankly, the only thing she could cling onto was the belief she had been raised upon: her duty to protect the crown and any who might one day wear it.
