Superpowered (Jackie)

Again, that dodge. Jackie had her punched to rights as the nimble konatsian seemed keen on avoiding her hot fists. Not that she really blamed the redhead for doing so. Getting walloped by her could leave some nasty marks if they weren't prepared for it. A good part of why she kept her power on part with most people she fought, even outside wanting a fair and fun match. it was just far too easy to make that go bad real quick. Jackie wasn't sure how much longer she could keep the aggression up.

"Be-lawl?"
It was pretty apparent what was going on soon enough with the red outline and what not. Jackie would feel that sudden spike of power draws into the konatsian. Most species had a greater affinity in quickly drawing up that much energy when compared to the Earthling. Crotona would see it too, that sudden realization splattered onto her face as the sword got a clean swipe on her. Easily passing by her defenses and cutting a great laceration into her side. Her expression changed from that to one of pain.

"Ooooh, fuck that hurt!"
Still aflame, a hand reached up to put some pressure on it. However she wanted to slice it, she'd been had. Not going down like a good girl though, that fire within her raged. Boiling over like a dangerous pan of boiling oil. Without so much as thinking it she releases the pressure from that wound and brings her hands up. Summoning for the swirling flames that would be her salvation. Conjuring twisters of heat around her while her palm was still bloodied.

Soon, it wasn't just gonna be her that hurt. Her energy spiked beyond even the konatsian. It'd throw off anyone who knew anything about Earthlings. Those eyes and aura kept a burning glow as she pushed past the fatigue and wear for a moment.

"HYAH!"
her fists light up again, attempting to dash forwards and connect with the konat's jaw in a sudden fury. Sending heat and energy past whatever defense and sword she might be catching in the crossfire. It was apparent her body hadn't healed from that cut, but she was ignoring its pain for a moment.

Jackie was actually pretty tapped out, unleashing so much energy at once in a fury. Some of those flames surrounding her had died down, leaving her two life pools of fire swirling gently around her body. She'd get little time to really recoup after whiffing against a... bunch of flies? That wasn't something she'd typically see come out of a fighter, better yet a swordswoman. Jackie at least could tell where she was reappearing. But just how much juice did the fiery monk have in order to dodge it?

The answer is, not a lot.

She'd turn on her feet to meet the slash, letting her arm she rose take the brunt of the slashing power, whatever there was of that. It's easily pushed aside to allow the konats a free bonk with her hilt into her head though. Making the young flame yelp and stumble away. She was in a panting nightmare, trying to regain some semblance of energy. From how loosely she fired off that last attack, she'd need a moment. Crotona could see this. Maybe she can't capitalize on this fact though...

"Neat trick... You made of bugs or somethin'???"
Genuine confusion laced her voice between the heaves of her chest, Jackie trying her best to straighten up. Her head leaned on back to stare into the bright Namekian skyline.

Huh. Not exactly the response she was expecting. So she was just casually friends with monsters and they could give her powers as some consolation? Reward? Turning into bugs being a 'taught' technique didn't seem to be what was going on here. It felt a lot more bestowed, like a patron of ye old to the poor farmer who sold his firstborn. It'd give Jackie the right amount of pause to catch her a little off guard with the rush. She was trying to rest here, damn it!

"Oi!"
The sun monk stepped on back several times from the lunging blade. Still having the capacity to move nimbly enough through the exhaustion. Catching Jackie out like that would score Crotona but a few soft scrapes that don't even break skin against her abs. And she'd put an end to it all together by trying to smack the blade away and stepping up into Crotona's guard. Attempted to elbow the woman to the side and then pull a leg up to kick her further away.

"Cheeky!... And at least that whole bug story explains the names you were shoutin' out before! It's like you're castin' a spell!"
Was the best way to put it. At least, in her head. Jackie knew a bit from adult fiction about all the weird rules magic can have. keywords for items to activate on verbal command was a thing, right? Oh well. Before the girl got any more whacky ideas of launching herself at the recovering monk Jackie would conjure up some fiery ki balls and lob them at her. Point blank or at range, whichever Crotona found herself reacting to her!

Magic solved. What was less obvious was the way Crotona would approach her next. Even with the distance gained and fireball appropriately keeping her at bay Jackie could sense something was up. Seemed like at first the Konatsian was swinging at air. Just, air. Then a sudden flash of energy rose from the blade and struck out as a slash of ki. Barreling straight towards her.

So, she could play the range game too? Might as well make this more close then. Even in the short fatigue, this Earthling had a great sens to rebound and rose both her hands. Holding the flats of her palms together and lighting them ablaze before cutting through the sent ki slash with her own parting arms. Swinging them out to deflect the beam off to both sides of her and into the ground before using the moment to lunge past them. Reeling a mighty fiery fist back to smash it into her gut.

To keep her fleshy bits safe, that other empowered arm would work to bat around and try controlling the blade. Pushing it away from her body as she tried keeping up the assault with a few more jabs to the face too. Heat overwhelming, the Konats would have to come up with something quick as coming in headstrong was Jackie's specialty.

It wasn't very often Jackie, even on spars where she purposefully lowered her strength to compensate for her partner, got to witness such an even display. Even with all the dodging and swatting with that blade the two held a good footing on one another. Her punch didn't do much beyond smash up against a summoned specter. Only getting a slight recoil from Crotona that resulted in some spat blood. Jackie pulled back for a moment and watched the Konatsian with a chuckle.

"Thanks. Made the muscle myself."
She couldn't help but throw a corny one-liner in there between assaults. Even with her power spiking to max, she can't help but feel it necessary to keep that adrenaline pumping. Less she start feeling that cut across her abdomen from earlier. She's not nearly as quick as Crotona was in the moment. It'd show more here, as even with her strength she would be forced on the defensive. Ducking around swings she could while batting away others.

None of the slashes so much as scratched her skin, but there was a certain amount of caution held with each block. It wasn't too hard to think Crotona could mix any sort of empowered strike or technique into the blows to hurt her bad again. So being cautious was going to remain her prerogative.

"You aren't bad yourself. Probably the best swordswoman I've met so far!"
To interrupt the assault and keep Crotona from just keeping the advantage, Jackie tries slipping another hard smash of her knuckles into the girl's lower chest. Trying to knock the wind out of her and shove her away to create a distinct distance. At least, a distance that wasn't sword beating distance.

Tch. Jackie just laughed as the punch landed hard into the woman's gut and sent her back. Even as a compliment, the sun monk didn't really care much for someone riding a little too high on her words. To her, it was more about respect in the craft. For all she knows, Crotona was just a strong woman with good technique. There were probably 'better' swordsmen out there, for what it's worth.

"You're approaching me?"
She teased some as she took to a defensive stance. Fists glowing hot with the sudden burst of empowered flames as she once again had the time and mind to block what was coming. Powered up or not, the blade was only going to get as hard to deal with as Crotona was strong! An arm comes out to deflect the blade away from her chest as she attempts a good jab into the girl's face again.

If it wasn't broken, don't fix it. And if the swordsman keeps coming ahead with a straightforward attack, she'd respond in kind with a simple defense. Pacing herself was her greatest strength after all. And if she can keep it up she'd have little else to worry about. She could be the guardian Earth needs if she proves this to herself.
