BACKGROUND:
Chime is the son of a Mazoku warlock named Gong. Gong was a solitary sort of person, and spent most of his time alone studying the mysteries of magic and the universe, keeping very few friends. Why such a man chose to have a child was anyone's guess. Maybe he wanted an apprentice, or just someone to talk to. Regardless of the reason, Gong vanished very early into Chime's life. He left his young son in the care of a fellow clansman, Zukha, an unusually well-traveled Namekian with a motherly streak. Gong was going off to investigate some esoteric, magical phenomena, and it wouldn't be safe to tote a child around with him, so he left Chime with Zukha. He promised to be back soon.
Days became weeks, then months, and Gong never returned. Without much of a lead to go on, and children to care for, Zukha wasn't able to go searching for her friend. Unable to simply abandon Chime, she raised him in his father's stead and took him in as her third adopted child. The other two were a saiyan-hybrid named Nero, and an avali named Pankaa. Chime grew up content with his little found family, but to this day, he's unsure if something prevented his father from returning, or if he simply abandoned him.
Despite the rough beginning, the rest of Chime's childhood and adolescence was a good one. He spent most of his time with his adopted mother and brothers, traveling around in their ship to various other planets to explore, but always coming back to their home on Namek between journeys. Chime was a naturally curious and intelligent child, and so the constant stream of new things was always exciting to him. When they were back on Namek, he would often travel over to the Dragon Isles to learn healing from the dragon clansmen there. Between that, and tutelage in general magic from Zuhka, Chime became a fairly proficient mage from a young age.
The boys' most recent trip had been to Earth, where Chime became enamored with a tall mountain in the east, Mt. Paozu. The creatures there were both familiar to home and something new, all at once. Chime was able to befriend a small dinosaur by feeding it berries he conjured up with magic, and the two had fun exploring the mountain together. But their friendship sadly wasn't meant to last. One day a larger, predatory dinosaur attacked Chime's small, tame one. Chime managed to scare off the predator with some ki-blasts and went to try and heal his pet, but the little creature was too badly injured to be repaired. Though they didn't know each other for long, Chime found himself devastated by the loss of his new friend. His magic, healing included, seemed to elude him after that incident, and try and he might, he could no longer cast spells.
That was several months ago, and Chime is back on Namek now. He still cannot use his magic, but has been trying to move forward and think positively, despite the dark cloud over his heart.

APPEARANCE: Chime is a teal-green namek with a gentle, youthful appearance. He stands at 5ft even and has warm brown eyes. His plastrons are yellow. He usually wears layered robes, and overall looks like an average, unremarkable Namekian, if rather small.
