What had started out as just curiosity was now something she had to figure out...it must be possible, she just had to figure out how...even if it only gave her minutes right now it was better than nothing...who knew...perhaps with practice she’d be able to survive and train out here in this harsh environment...at the very least she wouldn’t die an agonising death as soon as he pod ruptured...that at least made this something she was willing to risk trying to learn...the positives outweighed the negatives as far as she could tell.
She’d started in a low orbit above Plant, somewhere above the wastelands, high enough to be released by gravity and but still low enough that there was at least some atmosphere...more the edge of space as it were. It was silly really...even this high up...if everything failed or something went wrong...the fall would still kill her so the extra few miles into a high orbit wouldn’t make much difference but something stopped her from travelling too far into the darkness. But try it she had...seconds at first...then longer...pushing as she learned to tune her powers, feeling her body staving off the effects of the low atmosphere for longer and longer periods of time, unaffected as she figured out what to do bit by bit...often ending up gasping in her pod as she escaped back to its safety.
Now though her Pod floated in actual space above the planet Plant, the small window showing the stars out in the vastness of space, knowing the planet was behind her, the safety of it gone even at this height...here nothing but her own control and power would save her once she opened that door and stepped out into the void that called to her.
Staring out the glass into the darkness of space the young woman disengaged the safety mechanism for the door to her Attack Pod and slid her fingers round the handle that would release the door and open it up to the harsh vacuum of space. Her eyes closed and she began to pool her power, pulling it inside her and moving it through the fibres of her body, reinforcing them, protecting them, layering her power around her like a shield as she had practiced over and over to this moment. Her hand pulled down on the lever, the door hissing as the pressure seals split open and the door slid open, exposing her fully to the empty space above her home world.
It took Jagaimo a moment to realise she still had her eyes squeezed tightly shut against what she was expecting to happen...but nothing changed and when she opened them she was greeted by a canopy of stars shining back at her...and the silence...it was overwhelming quiet now she floated slowly from the confines of her pod...drifting out into the void...the only sound a laugh escaping her young lips as it dawned on her the technique worked...she was still alive...and while she wasn’t technically breathing right now...she didn’t feel the need to draw in breath...whatever was sustaining her was doing its job well…
The young warrior let her power flare out further, finding that she could move just as easily here as she could on Plant under her own power, although it turned out if she forgot to counter the momentum she just kept drifting....With a laugh of joy Jagaimo flung herself into the experience, propelling herself away from the pod leaving a trail of fading power behind her that light up the black space around her until she stopped suddenly...mouth open and eyes wide...She’d seen Plant before from behind the protective glass of her pod but this...this was incredible...almost as if she was seeing it for the first time, unobscured by the shielded view port of the small space craft...it was breath taking...
