A force on Namek was tugging on Ward in a way he wasn't accustomed to, as if leading him somewhere or to multiple places, he wasn't sure. An empty grassland near a lake, a waterfall similar to one back home, the site of a battle he wanted to forget and yet always remember, and now to a shrine holding a power he was unfamiliar with. It wasn't out of place for him to teleport right on top of the location he was headed to, but something he felt as if it shouldn't be disturbed, or that it deserved more respect than that.

Quite a distance away he could he whatever strength this shrine had, and though he didn't know exactly was it was yet, it was clearly important and powerful to this planet, if not even more so. It was more than that however, standing far enough away to observe in reverence but not officially entering the sight, he felt not the energy of whatever was here, but something, no someone. It was familiar yet not how he remembered it, scratching at him mind as he tried to recall what he was feeling. Who did this power belong to and why was it tugging at him as much as this place was? It was almost dizzying the combination, and then it struck him and froze him in stride of a walk he hadn't even realized he had started.

Looking around he struggled to see anyone, but could feel them as if they were nearly on top of him. suddenly blinking away he left a small rustling of leaves and grass where he had stood. The energy felt distorted for some reason, as if it didn't want to be felt at all now, and the closer he got to it the harder it was to track down. When he appeared again he didn't need to feel for anything or anyone, as they were now in his sights.

"Avishta Sister. Welcome to Namek"

Namek's three suns basked the Dragon Isles in a pleasant warmth. Fend whistled a tune as she strolled down the cobbled pathway winding along the many ornate statues and pillars surrounding the Namekian shrine. The young Shinjin wore a comfortable red hoodie, black sweatpants stained with a bit of coffee, along with sandals and socks and her usual mask to finish off her casual gear. A solid dozen grocery bags were slung around her arms- she'd been tasked with grocery shopping. Her squad back at camp deserved to have a good dinner during their vacation, after all!

Fend figured she may as well do some sightseeing on the way back. She snapped a picture of a pair of dragon statues with her phone as she passed by, a smile plastered beneath her mask. Namek was a beautiful place. There was so much wilderness to explore, people to meet and new cultures to experience- it was hard to believe that apparently a lot of people got bored of the green skies and blue grass so quickly.

As Fend was slipping on her headphones to listen to some tunes, though, a dull glow caught her attention. "The heck is it now, Pal?" She mused, looking down at the sword sheathed at her waist. A pale glow shone from its cracks, but it was somehow different from when it had been exposed to the remnants of Phakk's corruption the other day. It had been sparking and violent before, but the aura the blade pulsed with now felt oddly calming. The Namekians had mentioned something of this place being a sacred grounds... Maybe that was why Palibur was reacting?

She unsheathed the sword, letting its pale form glisten in the light of the three suns. "You're weird, y'know that?" She mused to the sword, looking at her reflection in its hilt. "...God, I wish you could like, talk, or something. I'd have a lot less questions about you then."

As she looked at her reflection, though, Fend noticed something else reflected in Palibur's surface. She sneered at the sight of a familiar figure rounding a corner behind her. Fend took a slow, deep inhale in when she heard Ward's voice before turning around on one foot, propping Palibur on her shoulder as it continued to glow with a pale light. "Howdy, conqueror." Fend quipped- she wanted Ward to know that she knew what he'd done. "What's bought you to bother me this time? Same as before?"
Ki Masquerade is in use! Fend's ki does not feel like that of a Shinjin's.
Ki Suppression is used to lower Fend's PL to 10.

The familiar mask, the familiar sword, and that all too familiar tone of voice left no more doubts where few resided on who was standing before Ward. There was no expectation of finding anyone else here and yet still this was one of the last people he would have expected. The last time they met it was just short of coming to blows and was far from a pleasant meeting, so it was mixed feelings seeing them on Namek now.

"Conqueror? You've clearly been speaking to some misguided souls to bring such a false claim and lay it at my feet, thief."

There was barely any inflection to his voice despite the clear intentions of his comments. It wasn't until he got a better look at the weapon she held that he had even remembered the situation at all, choosing to think very little of her as she likely did of him in return since their last meeting. What she thought she knew meant very little to him, but he was curious all the same what it was she thought she knew.

"I can assure you, despite your ego assuming as much, I didn't come here with the intention of seeing you at all. This is a very spiritual place on this planet. We simply had the misfortune of crossing paths here. What brings you to Namek I wonder, though? did you already tire of pretending you aren't what you are and attempting to play at being mortal?"

Despite how he usually let others do the talking and responded in kind, Fend brought something out in him that none of the other Shinjin did. It was similar to how a sibling might pour grief onto a younger sibling, but without any of the affection or care for their well-being that might come with it. Tiamat was self-righteous and clearly overtly violent, Kowlin and his traveling companion were blunt but respectful enough, and Phakk was a bubbling ray of sunshine with a monster hiding inside, yet Fend was the one he couldn't quite nail down a proper impression of. Perhaps it was one of his kind trying so hard not to be that was off-putting, but from their previous conversation it seemed the opposite was her reasoning for not being fond of him either. There could likely be no bigger difference in two Shinjin standing across from each other.

Fend narrowed her eyes back at Ward. Hidden beneath her mask was a sly grin. "Bruhhhh, I'm just callin' it like I see it. If 'ya try to take land and-or people with force, by definition in the dictionary, 'yer a conqueror." She idly fidgeted with the ornate spirals on Palibur's hilt. Ward and Phakk were unwilling to take no for an answer no matter what that day from what she gathered so far.

However, when the other Shinjin mentioned Fend's 'game of pretend,' the masked mortal's mood instantly shifted. "Alright, first of all, that's not very pog of you to say." As far as Fend was concerned, she was no Shinjin. She was no sister of Ward's, Tiamat, or Kowlin's if they were any standard for what a Shinjin should be. "I'm still just as mortal as anyone who lives in this world, and so are you." Ward might have thought of the Shinjin as gods, but unfortunately he was speaking to an atheist.

"As for why I'm here, if telling 'ya will get you to bugger off, then I'll have 'ya know Pally here is the one that insisted on this little field trip." The blade in Fend's hands still pulsed with that faint, pale light of its own accord as she tilted it around in the sunlight. "It threw a temper tantrum like I've never seen just a few days ago. Gave me a weird-ass vision of some big, purple, tentacley thing tearing shit apart, I shit you not."

"...Y'know, this old hunk of junk's been more helpful and supportive to me than any "family" of mine ever has been. Who would have thunk it?" Its energy was what allowed Fend to free herself from Otherworld, its call was what gave her the bravery to finally say enough was enough and find a new home. If it truly did have a will of its own and picked its wielder like Kamae claimed... Then she was quite happy it picked her and not someone like Ward.

There weren't many people by this point that would have talked to Fend about what had happened, but it was clearly wildly misrepresented, especially his part in it if this was how they presented it to her. The problem was it was unlikely they'd share who it was that talked to them let alone what all it was that was said. The situation that took place was frustrating enough, but being portrayed in such a light only added to it given he knew what really happened and he was still certain half the people that were there weren't even clear on what truly started the entire situation and half of them either weren't aware or around by the time it ended.

"I'm not sure you are or can. You weren't there, and not all that were eventually there were even fully aware of what was happening when it happened aside from what Phakk did. No one tried taking land or people by force, so if someone put that thought in your head you were clearly lied to."

His hands moved up to the bridge of his nose as he took a deep breath. He wasn't likely to get another chance to tell someone what happened, as the further it got from the incident the less he cared to talk about it with anyone that wasn't directly involved. The fact was, if one of the participants in said event that eventually became a fight was talking about it, they were lying rather openly, or in the best case they were wildly exaggerating with half-truths.

"Phakk most definitely caused some issues that me and her still have yet to discuss since I've not seen her since the day after, but I can assure you I did nothing but try and protect Pankaa and Nero from Phakk, and protect Phakk when Tiamat and Crotona both openly threatened to kill her. If you speak to anyone further about it and you want to know what took place, find the Demon Erebos. Both he and I have spoken on friendly terms despite the fight that happened. Even he was against how overtly violent the Shinjin Tiamat was acting as they threatened him on more than one occasion as well. I tried to stop fighting from happen, I protected Phakk when Tiamat specifically started the fight by attacking with no such provocations of violence from either me or Phakk, and I shielded and protected both Nero and Pankaa when the real fighting started. Conquering was most assuredly not part of what took place at my hands."

He face was showing signs of annoyance for sure and for once. There was no doubt he was fooled to a large degree by what was happening, as Phakk hadn't explained the entire situation to him, but he couldn't sit idly by and be accused in such a way. The idea of doing anything she suggested was unthinkable, and had he known going in the entirety of Phakk's plan, even if he still didn't fully know the scope of it, he would have talked her out of it if no stopped her from leaving Plant in the first place. The way she was talking didn't help his clear look of confusion and displeasure, as she was throwing in what he could only surmise were Earthling slang words, and they frankly made her sound ridiculous given the tone of the conversation.

"What you are I'm afraid, is misguided on so many levels. Waving your stolen property around doesn't make it any less so..."

His words trailed off, not as if he was finishing his sentence but his thoughts caught up to speaking, fully comprehending what she had just said. What she had just described sounded a lot like something that he never wished to see again. Something that had caused grief for every person standing with or against Phakk that day.

"That sounds like Phakk, or what Phakk became. When Tiamat attacked her, something took over her body and her mind and she lost control. It was why I had to put a wall around Nero and Pankaa as she tried corrupting Pankaa's mind and it was all I could do to keep them from getting hurt even worse. Trapped in the middle of a near crazed Shinjin spouting some nonsense about being heroic and a protector while threatening to kill her, trying to keep Phakk's damage to a minimum, protect the others, and-"

His shoulders fell, looking at the ground as his fists clenched.

"It was a mess, and it's burned into my mind."

Looking up he stared at Fend, his face a mixture of anger and sadness, but his knuckles were turning white from his grip.

"This planet didn't deserve any of what happened that day. I tried. I really tried."

"I may have not seen everything, but I've seen enough to know what happened there was fucked up." Fend growled at Ward. She had been to the scene of the battle, and seen the dying remains of the corruption Phakk had tried to unleash upon the Plait. No reason could excuse changing the landscape into whatever the hell that thing was. A pale white glow briefly shone from Fend's eyes at the thought of the corruption, akin to the aura shining from Palibur. "If THAT is how you so-called gods 'help' people, then maybe I was wrong and you all should just stay in Otherworld and keep sipping your tea and watching us like we're on reality television when we suffer!"

For so long, Fend had detested the principles of inaction her people were rooted to. Ward and Phakk too, challenged that concept, but in the worst way Fend could have ever imagined. Fend had crossed paths with many more deranged Shinjin- she couldn't really be the only sane one among her kind, right?

Ward tried to explain the tragedy from his side. Fend exhaled slowly- she hadn't asked for his story, but she was getting it anyways. The masked mortal kept her eyes narrowed at Ward the entire time he spoke. Apparently some Tiamat Shinjin lady had been super violent, but asshole Shinjins were nothing new to Fend. He encouraged her to ask Erebos about what happened, which only earned an amused snort from Palibur's wielder. Erebos had been the one to get her up to speed already, after all.

Ward's tale, though, did little to quell Fend's disdain. "If you really don't think you were taking over the place or whatever, then what the hell do you think you were doing- what the hell was your end goal?" In a timeline where Ward and Phakk had emerged victorious, what would they be doing now?

At the mention of the monstrosity Palibur had warned Fend about, Ward's mood shifted. Fend's gaze softened slightly at the sight of the other Shinjin's anguish. She felt more pity than empathy for Ward, but it was enough for her to start to change her tune. "...Dude, I think you like need a therapist or something. I'm pretty sure there's some reasonably priced ones on Earth??" Fend couldn't imagine Ward would truly listen to the advice of any puny mortal, though, no matter their credentials, but she could dream. She certainly wasn't qualified to try and help him, nor did she particularly want anything to do with any sort of Shinjin.

His first instinct was to sigh and respond, defend what had happened, argue and explain, but the fact was that simple if not somewhat inelegant statement was right on the nose. What happened was in fact "fucked up", and while in the moment he was willing to put himself in harms way to physically protect Phakk, he couldn't excuse her actions. With hindsight by his side he realized how much worse it all was, and while there was a certain balance to it with good versus evil, there was also a great imbalance that was impossible to ignore. If things were just a bit different it could have been possible he was on the other side of the fight that took place, and that was a difficult pill to swallow.

There was no defending what had happened, and while he didn't appreciate all that Fend was in regards to his own beliefs, he couldn't disagree with them, as much as it ate at him to admit it to himself. He gritted his teeth as he physically swallowed his pride as he spoke, slowly and almost as if someone was forcing him to.

"You're right. Somewhat. I screwed up. I let my feelings get the best of me, which is something I rarely do. I went in with partial information and wanted to protect Phakk. I can't let Phakk shoulder all the blame because I was there too, but if I knew then what I know now, there wouldn't have been a fight and I wouldn't have let Phakk leave Planet Plant at all."

The way she spoke triggered his memories of the first time they met, and the longer they stood next to each other it felt as if they were magnets pushing against one another, to the point there was a near physical friction in the air between the two of them. His tone didn't change much, but it was noticeable only because of how near monotone he spoke otherwise, and the tightening of his muscles as he tried to keep his temper in check.

"I thought we were there to help, believe what you want, it doesn't matter to me truthfully, but I'm going to say my peace all the same. Despite what happened there, I have great respect for the Namekian people and their traditions. Phakk, knowingly or not I can't say, fed into that when she spoke of the hardships and the problematic practices involving the Mazoku Namekians. When we were leaving Plant there were no mentions of corruption, she spoke of helping them not necessarily ruling them as what it seems was perhaps her goal in hindsight, though I'm merely assuming. I was lead to believe they were lead astray and being directly controlled by dangerous demons, and I wanted to help."

His fists clenched and his lip curled for a moment, feeling a mixture of sympathy and pure anger, not at Fend, but at Phakk. Someone he considered a friend, but did she deceive him purposefully? Was he used in some way as a means to an end? Every time the situation came to him he couldn't keep from becoming increasingly skeptical and angry, but he wasn't innocent either, even if he didn't go in with complete information, that was as much on him as her.

"It doesn't matter. It's done with, and I can guarantee it won't happen a second time. If I have to be the one fighting her next time, it won't happen again. I feel for Phakk, I know she can't completely control that...thing inside her, but it's she knew and she knows it's there, and knew that it was a possibility. "

Slowly his gaze turned back to Fend, his right hand tightly gripping his other wrist behind his back.

"You truly have spent too much time among the mortals. You've become devoid of all manner of respect and polite conversational skills. You look down on all of us Shinjin while you walk around wielding something that doesn't belong to you so blatantly. I at least admit my faults and accept who I am. You pretend not to be of your own species with your literal and metaphorical mask, steal from Otherworld, then run away to the mortal realm like a pouting child. It's only a matter of time before the glass walls of your house shatter from the stones you throw."

    "Whoa whoa whoa WHOA stop right there hold the phone." Fend waved her hands, her smug aura in response to being told that she was right and Ward was wrong faded as soon as she processed the implications behind the Shinjin's excuses. "Are you telling me the first thing you didn't do ANYTHING on Namek before that stunt at the Plait? You were on Plant for some reason, teleported to Namek, and THEN did your thing, in that order with nothing inbetween?" She clasped her hands together, slowly and deeply inhaling to keep herself composed.

    "Did you really not think to talk to even a single Mazoku before deciding to try and become their babysitters? You didn't think to research or fact check, like, at all? Your... your head can't be THAT far up your own ass, can it?" Fend didn't know much about Namek yet herself- the young Shinjin was still dipping her toes into their culture and understanding their world. It was not her place to tell these people how to live, nor was it Ward's. Beneath her mask, one of Fend's eyes twitched in anger.

When Ward attacked Fend's identity as a mortal, she growled and took a step closer, narrowing her eyes as she stared the elder Shinjin down. "Says the one whose response to "seek professional help" is "fuck you."" A therapist would likely do a good job at getting Ward to take his ego down a bit, but that would require the Shinjin to be willing to listen.

    On the topic of Palibur, though, Fend had indeed stolen it from Otherworld. However, as she'd recently learned, there was a bit more to Palibur's story than that. "I'unno dude, is it reeeally stealing if Palibur itself asked me to yoink it?" She hummed, that smug, mocking energy returning to her voice. "Apparently this old thing chooses its wielder. It had alllll of Otherworld to pick from and it picked lil' ol' me. If you ask me, I rescued it from that dinky vault y'all locked the poor thing in for the rest of eternity." She was playing it up a bit to try and bug Ward- Fend knew she was a thief. She paced around the Shinjin, fidgeting with the ancient sword in her hands.

Otherworld was anything but paradise for Fend. She stopped as she remembered her life before Palibur. Constantly being told her existence was wrong, and that she should be grateful for what little respect she was given. Fend adjusted her mask. As long as she wore it, she was mortal. "Down here, I got the best friends I could ask for, a great collection of games for my Baotendo, two very nice students, a bigass collection of photography on my ZPhone, and a super cool rival to name a few things." There was genuine joy in Fend's tone as she recounted what she'd found in the mortal realm. She turned around to face the other Shinjin.

    "I belong here more than I ever did up there. I'm happy in this world. Can you say the same about whatever life you're living? I bet 'ya can't name the last time you genuinely laughed." She challenged, though amidst her sass there was a sense of peace in her voice as she stepped right in front of Ward.

The more Fend talked the harder it was to believe she was a Shinjin. This felt far too familiar, much like how he had felt when he first met Phakk. Neither spoke like a Shinjin let alone acted like a Shinjin, and if they simply had different physical features he would have no idea they were anything but mortals. Phakk was never raised a Shinjin and rarely in Otherworld, but Ward knew just enough to know Fend was, even if they had fled. It consistently made this conversation harder as he had to shift between talking to one of his own kind, but one that clearly didn't want to be or acted as if they were.

Ward, regardless of his words kept the same demeanor and stare, his words obvious in meaning, but his tone rarely changing.

"You are incredibly quick to jump to assumptions and judgements for someone who seems so against both. I would hope however you understand that intentions and actions don't always line up as we want. Good intentions can end up as poorly as bad intentions. Mistakes are made, regardless of scale. I can sense you've grown stronger, but it's clear by the way you choose to speak to me that you've not grown wiser. You speak and act from a place of clear immaturity, and you can't be entirely blamed for that as perhaps you don't know any better."

She was getting to him, even if he wasn't necessarily acting annoyed. He flashed back to their original conversation, and it was not much different. Something about his sheer presence and every word or phrase he spoke set her off as if she was prepared to immediately retaliate regardless of what was said. In turn it was clear that so much about her didn't sit right with him either, and it was unlikely either would ever get along well. It was starting to become hard to believe they'd even manage a civil conversation for longer than a few minutes at a time. They had at least not come to blows yet, and they were close to it their first meeting, so perhaps there was progress in that.

"Says the one whose response to an explanation in a civil manner and admittance to fault with guilt is to further mock and talk down to them. You have no high ground to stand on, despite how far above others you try to put yourself. You speak of not wanting to be a Shinjin or disliking other Shinjin because we think we are better, or we force decisions on others, whatever drivel you share, but all I ever hear from you is how much you look down on anyone that doesn't agree with your twisted views. You are quick to start pointing fingers and casting blame. You make excuses for stealing something that wasn't yours to touch let alone take. You make excuses for why you act the way you do. You make excuses for why you ran away and why you hide your identity even from the mortals you think so highly of."

Ward took a step forward now, and even though both were short compared to most mortals, he was trying to stand up straight and taller than her. They were as opposite as they could be, even more so than himself and Phakk, as far as Shinjin went. Both believed fully they were in the right, and more so that the other was wrong in the most absolute way. Looking down at her weapon, he scoffed, and waved his hand dismissively.

"More of that arrogance and immaturity."

His stance relaxed, not because of his attitude, but because she began to move, putting him on guard. When she stopped he turned and clenched his hands behind his back, facing her directly.

"I think one of the few things we agree on is that you did not necessarily belong there, but that in no way excuses everything you've done. I made a mistake and I'm attempting to make it right. One day perhaps you'll mature enough to do the same."

He could as clear as the conversation they were having now recollect the laugh time he laughed, that awkward smile he had that caused Phakk to burst out with her own laugh. It felt like a lifetime ago even if it wasn't, but everything with Phakk as of late was giving him mixed emotions. Others had insinuated perhaps she was manipulating him, others blaming him for not stopping her himself, and seeing all the things play out over these past few months bothered him far more than he would ever truly let on. Even as he stood arguing with Fend, his mind shifted between the reasons he was here and what was next. There was much to do, and and hard as Fend pushed away her heritage, Ward embraced it with a tight grip, staring down Fend with every drop of pride he had.
