The trip to Namek had been one of the most boring that Iyre had ever undertaken. No drink, no fights, and just a lot of solemn and serious people who didn't want to talk to her. By the time she got off the ship, she was antsier than she had been in a long, long time. She wasn't about to stick around and go through the whole spaceport procedure! Instead, she blasted off and headed straight to the Dragon Isles.
Namek was a bigger place than she'd imagined it might be, but it still didn't take too long to find the distinctive set of islands. That was what the person she'd quizzed before had said to look out for. That was where the Dragon Clan made their home; they were the thinking sort of Nameks who knew all the super secret techniques. Exactly what she was looking for.
It didn't take long to find a small cluster of houses that she guessed was a village. None of the powers within felt particularly strong right away, but she knew that this could sometimes be deceptive. For some reason, people of other races liked to hide their power.
She descended from the sky like a blazing green comet, landing in the middle of the village and casting her appraising eye over the rather stunned inhabitants. At just over seven feet tall, and with all that rippling muscle, she was by far the physically biggest person present. The mercenary armour and the array of trophies attached to it didn't, exactly, help to put them at their ease, either.
"Oi!" She bellowed, "Who is in charge around here?!"
One of the older-looking Namekians, wrapped in loose white robes and walking with the aid of a stick, stepped forwards.
"I am the headman of this village." He said, craning his head to get a better look at the enormous woman. "What can I do for you?"
Iyre grinned from ear to ear at the question, "Brilliant!" She exclaimed, "That's the kind of attitude I like. I'm here to learn your secret awesome powers. How much does that cost?"
The question seemed to take the Headman back completely, and for a moment, he just stared up at her mouth agape. The rest of the village then began to return to their work, no longer paying her any mind. She was just an outsider here to try and learn secrets; nothing to worry about. If she wanted to learn anything, she probably wasn't going to start any trouble... probably.
"It, doesn't really work like that, young lady. What, specifically, are you looking for?"
Iyre blew hard through both nostrils and clapped her hands to her hips, bending over the tiny man. "You know, POWER! Crazy stuff like making my energy go bendy or, hard, or whatever! What do you mean it doesn't work like that? EVERYTHING has a price!"
