Yeah. Jackie knew all too much that little facet. Hell, she mentioned it before to him. She did this so others wouldn't be forced to do it against their better judgement, or die. That's what a guardian truly stood to do for the people of Earth. It's why she searched it out as much as she did. Hell, even some of the people that challenged Korin's tower weren't doing it as anything more than self improvement. Not gonna win over everyone to be so selfless.
"I know I probably shouldn't stress about it as much as I am, but it could happen at any time. Anywhere. I wanna make sure people are ready. It could be so much worse."
Like, not knowing the concept of ki. The inner spirit that strengthened people to inhuman levels. The source itself was a rather neutral. It can be a weapon for good just as easily as used to malevolent intent. All sort of power structures would remain even if ki wasn't around. Weapons have and continue to be effective destructive weapons without the assistance of ki. And like the inner spirit, not everyone is going to have the resources to 'keep up'. What was more important to this question and the next was cultural impact though. The sun monk has known nothing else BUT discipline with ki. And the lack of it that got her village destroyed.
"I can't really say I ever wondered how life would be without it. That spirit within us all is something my village has a trained disciplined in. Their own school of training that the younglings and adults alike would be taught. It's all I ever knew. Would it really be that different if people relied on technology to replace it? I am not so sure."
A pause. She brought her eyes back down and shifted in the grass a bit.
"Some nameless, unknown entity burnt my village along with the people in it some time ago. As far as I know, just one other and I were the only ones to avoid the destruction that day. The only identifying factor was that their flames carried unusual color. Ironic, how the Sun Monks were unable to save themselves from overwhelming heat."
It was so weird. Such a significant part of her life wasn't even recognized widely by Earth. Their destruction having not a blip on most people's radars. She shook her head and laughed a bit.
"Looking for them is on the backburner now, but it was originally what drove me. That was until I was smacked around a few times."
