Celeste seemed to sink only deeper into this new cruel persona, gone was the charming mask and overbearing smugness. That was fine by the wounded warrior, a taste of the true self. She hacked up some more blood onto the back of her hand, realising she'd never been in a prolonged battle where she got this hurt. New territory meant new things to learn. She centred herself and closed her eyes, something most would consider foolish in a battle. Inner focus fixated on the ebbing and flowing of the flame burning in her chest. Holding her blade tightly, she simply stood in defiance. The ground shook, the elements around her unearthed and it was a mess to discern but Katsu could strictly make out the influence of Celeste's power on a specific part of the terrain. Her senses focused on that point and the log was soon brought to crush her.
Her eyes remained clamped shut as she swung with newfound vigour and speed, cutting the log into many miniscule chips of lumber. The force of the mage's telekinesis still sent the newly sliced wood down onto Katsu, cutting and tearing at her but it was a lot easier to deal with than a full crushing from someone clearly double her power. The beautiful kimono was becoming quite tattered as a result of the continued damage sustained, which was quite a shame. Finally, eyelids rose and piercing red stabbed into the sight of the sorceress. A familiar twisted smirk found its way across Katsu's worn face.
"Looks like I'm totally outmatched. Should I take a knee or beg for mercy? Even these crappy normal blows are roughing me up. Aaaaah, so weak! Too weak! The only thing that could sate this self-loathing is if I could free your head from the confines of being attached to your shoulders."
The samurai freed one of her hands from the hilt and pointed it towards her empowered opponent, firing off red orbs of sheer Ki. It'd be a while since she'd resorted to actually using Ki like most fighters. With a hail of red energy approaching Celeste, Katsu was sure none of them would land. As the mage was now, she could probably swat them away. Yet even so, she charged forward with the blasts hoping to slash at Celeste a few times. It was reckless but what other options remained? Waiting for her opponent to regain energy would spell the end and attacking also spelled the end. So, the choice was between losing passively or losing aggressively. Katsu's choice was simple then. Considering the gap between their strengths and the hurt nature of the wanderer, it seemed likely that any feint or trick would be reacted to accordingly. So Katsu would just have to persevere with weak blows alone. She chuckled to herself as she kicked up the snow underfoot as Celeste grew closer and closer with each rapid step. Katsu was a fool. A fool that readied her blade and prepared to slash time and time again at the friend she just made earlier today.
