CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: With exception to his naturally pastel pink hair and emerald eyes, Blue is a fairly plain Earthling of all-around average complexity. He stands at 5' 4" with a rather lean, gaunt build and a pinkish-pale complexion - both of which are buried underneath baggy layers of clothing. Said attire consists mostly of faded, worn, and aged pieces such as: A cream-colored tee with a faint smiley decal, a puffy light blue jacket, torn khaki pants, and ratty blue/white sneakers. A white bandage is usually situated across the bridge of his nose, which constantly bruises from accidental bumps.
BACKGROUND: If there was one common thread running throughout Blue's story until now, it'd be a pervasive and constant misfortune. An accidental child by conception to a powerful business mogul, Blutarch was left with his broken-hearted biological mother along with a hefty support check to be raised alone. For a short few years things were peaceful in the small two-room apartment the duo resided in, if not a bit morose. While bitter at her circumstances and the need to now raise a child of a man who had abandoned her, Blue's mother begrudgingly did her best to raise him in as good a condition as the provided money would allow. This arrangement was disheartening but did little to squash the child's naturally bright and optimistic disposition. Even they had recognized early on that merely stepping foot in the same room was enough to glean a small reaction from their mother. A tiny, nigh imperceptible wince. A quiet sigh. A strained smile.
They felt nervous as any child would, wondering what it was that they had done wrong. Once Blutarch had asked why he didn't have another parent like was said to be 'normal'. His mother snapped in a verbal fit of rage, sobering afterward to sob apologies to the confused Blue. They didn't - and couldn't - understand at the time why things were the way they were. At the age of seven they picked up a useful hobby. Toting around a bag, Blue would collect any coins, cans, or bottles left littered about in the streets of Sashimi City and dutifully walk the short three block distance to a recycling center where his findings would be exchanged for small sums of money. He had thought that maybe brining in income, no matter how small, would help his mother. Even if she didn't truly love him right now, Blue loved her and thought of only ways to help.
This unwavering attitude and work served to make Blue's mother feel even more shame and tearful regret for how she had been treating him, and had things continued in this manner... all may have gone well. 'May have' being the key word given that another tragedy was set to strike. On the eve of Blutarch's thirteenth birthday came an intruder in the midst of the night. As per usual Blue had been sleeping on a cot tucked into the kitchen while his mother had been in the main room, and the first to stumble awake to an armed criminal. Startled awake by a bloodcurdling scream, the boy hid the best he could as the assailant ransacked what they could from the main room before fleeing. It took minutes for the first police to arrive. They found Blue cradling the bloodied, slashed body of his mother as pools of crimson soaked into the cheap carpet.
Attempts to place him in a foster home fell flat, and for two years Blue flitted aimlessly about the city's sparse and overcrowded orphanage while friends came and went. Yet even through all of this the boy's good nature and default positivity continued to shine through, though few in the same situation as he felt quite as happy about their circumstances. At age sixteen Blue petitioned for early release from the orphanage system, and while warned that it'd mean independence upon the streets - he did so anyway. It wasn't exactly easy to be homeless and without true friends or family in the world, but Blue made do and that was enough for him.
