AGE:
GENDER: Non-binary, although biologically speaking the "blueprint" for Alexa's body was male.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: Pictures and/or descriptions work for this.
BACKGROUND: Ignorance is bliss. Fear of extinction, the cessation of a species' collective existence, is a blight that will inevitably worm its way into the minds of any sufficiently advanced species. The Rhizomians were not an exception, and despite no clear threat in the sight, certain entities would occasionally try to ease that fear by pooling funding towards various projects. The World Tree Project was one of them.
The goal of the World Tree Project was conceptually simple: "preservation of life". This included both the existence of life as well as the information about it, including significant scientific and cultural milestones that the Rhizomians had accomplished. Something that had the potential to persevere and flourish regardless of what became of Planet Toober or its inhabitants. The method through which the team tried to accomplish this was by bio-engineering a "knowledge vault": an organism which possessed the capacity to store knowledge within its DNA, the ability to both form a larger storage unit via natural growth, the ability to transport itself (or spread its influence) to different locations when needed, and the ability to communicate and relay its information forward should it be necessary.
In summary, the dream was to create a living database of all things.
The research went on for years in trying to produce a suitable vessel for the purpose of information storage, but the progress was slow. The team went through hundreds upon hundreds of different iterations of different combinations of bio-engineered samples. Various types of plants were created, grown, tested and discarded, and while progress was made it was far too slow. And as the time went on, funding became an increasingly larger problem as the original funders dwindled while new ones became harder to find.
One of the scientists, Dr. Tilley, started to draft an idea that was born from one part inspiration and one part desperation. The plants that they had created had the capability for emergent learning, but none of them possessed the capacity for higher levels of intelligence. His idea was to create a garden that contained a large amount of the samples they had created. This would allow them to interact with each other within an internal network, with the hopeful outcome being emergent intelligence.
Unfortunately, even this idea couldn't be implemented fast enough before the project lost its funding. But the idea had already taken root inside Dr. Tilley's head, and for the sake of completing a promising project that he had spend a sizable amount of his life towards he hatched a plan. Armed with the knowledge that both the disassembly of the project and the relocation of reusable assets would take its time, he would start to smuggle a large quantity of samples out of the facility. At the same time, he started pooling his personal funds into developing a secret site in a forest near his house.
This was how Dr. Tilley's own "Project Spora" was born. While the most important part of its development would obviously be the knowledge vault, a lot of Tilley's funds were directed towards developing a spacecraft that'd contain it. After the project would reach perfection, it would be shot into space. That way, Tilley would ensure the survival of his magnum opus and the information that it would contain. His legacy would be safe from people who didn't see the importance of such a thing.
His work progressed in secrecy for a few years. It was draining work, both on Tilley himself and his own funds. For funds, he had to resort to loans, shady services and selling some of his personal belongings. As for himself, scientific tenacity was what kept his aging body going as he balanced regular work. It became an obsession, a one that could only be sustained for so long.
One day, Tilley's extensive smuggling came to the facility's knowledge, and their response was immediate. While the doctor learned about this in time to act, this event posed a big issue. Both the knowledge vault and the spaceship were functional, but the actual information was still missing. Acquiring it would have been the longest part, and now there wasn't even time for that.
Still... despite of this big issue, the project could still be launched in a functional state. The final piece was realistically always going to have been entered before total completion. It'd just make the future developments increasingly more challenging.
The old doctor set everything ready for an automated launch before entering the thriving insides of the spaceship. Upon recognizing biological matter within, the inner garden latched onto and started to assimilate it according to its programming, just as planned. The officials that had been rapidly approaching the secret laboratory arrived just in time to witness Project Spora's launch to the great beyond.
Dr. Tilley's being was consumed and used as base for the next evolutionary step: a humanoid vessel. A lifetime's worth of memories would serve as the first drop into what would hopefully become an ocean.

You release a blinding flash of light, replicating the sun's rays. This allows you to attempt to escape any thread or travel between splits in an Action Thread more safely. In order to stop you, a player must use an attack that is superior in power to your Solar Flare. You cannot undo your escape via Solar Flare if you are successful, but you can use KP to defend if it is overcome

Utility Technique || Plant Manipulation
Spora is capable of using their energy to manipulate nearby plants, with the ability to nourish or wither it to their likening. They still have to work within the confines of what would be physically possible for the plant in question. Spora also cannot change a plant into another plant or make them sprout from barren surfaces, but as they themselves possess a sizable biological compendium they are able to utilize this technique using their own biomass. This technique is passive and does not require KP.
