As chance would have it, Tiamat found that on Earth, there was a mineral that held some powerful magic potential, and was seemingly harvested industrially by the local companies seeking to make a profit out of selling the thing... mostly misusing its potential, but they couldn't know, as most Earthlings, or mortals in general, were not sensible to magic as a concept, and would not think of searching for it in may cases.
Well, Tiamat intended to see these for herself, maybe grab one if it really holds the potential to strengthen her own magic. Her spells needed some more oomph if she was to take part in the battles that will shape the mortal world for years to come. Her supporting capacities were pretty efficient, but she would need to deal some damage herself if she wants to help out.
The mines themselves were not hard to find at all, they were massive complex, standing out of the landscape heavily with technologically advanced machinery and large buildings. The Shinjin found one pretty fast and decided to make an approach...
Despite the massive complex being in a relatively good state, it seemed to be abandoned... it was not because of a shortage of minerals either, since there was some of it to be found all around the place... but Tiamat quickly understood what was going on here... the mineral they called bloody ruby was having an effect on the surrounding, she could feel its insidious influence all around the complex... something happened here to have them leave, and the resource itself was to blame, most likely.
Tiamat reacted quickly, she would conjure a spell that would protect her mind from the matter. The influence was pretty weak still, although it would probably increase in power if she went into the caves... maybe protected exposure would help her understand the magic of the stones, and give her the capacity to protect herself better... the spells from the blood ruby did not seem demonic in nature, although the Shinjin knew she could be tricked in thinking that.
