BACKGROUND:
A silver streak cut through the voidic black of the universe, a burning trail fueled by millennia hot on its heels. The crystal interloper's statistical eventuality came to pass nine hundred years ago, finally slamming into a little green and blue marble floating around its star. From the shattered, steaming remnants of the crystal shell a creature crawled. It shuddered and bled, but eventually pushed to its feet to face a strange hairless ape who, contrary to the creature's assumption, did not immediately try to shove a weapon into its throat. The ape was kind in its ministrations, tending to the creature and bringing it to its home. Counting its blessings, the creature took advantage. Its own nature was opportunistic, scheming even. Taking what it could from any it came across, then moving on. The parasite bled their host of every drop of hospitality it could manage, but found the well bottomless by its standards. Sustenance, protection from the elements, companionship, and conversation-- Knowledge of the world it had found itself upon. All free for the taking, for as long as it required.
The creature postponed revealing their true colors, instead opting to accompany their naive ape companion until they saw an opportunity to strike, or they stopped being useful. They learned the ape to be a soldier, fighting for early unification on a world where that would not come to pass for years to come. A revolutionary out of time. They traveled together, fought together, and during that time many opportunities came and went: To ingratiate itself with more powerful companions or strike down the ape to pluck a particularly valuable find from its vulnerable possession. The creature took none of them.
They grew old together, having become the greatest of friends. When the ape passed, the creature's perspective was that of the self being passed down through offspring. The ape had had children, and so the creature simply continued its friendship with a smaller, admittedly less interesting version of their friend. When the creature had grown ripe with age during its friend's third generation, they created an egg, and meticulously cared for it-- Passing the knowledge of how to do so to its ape friend before expiring.
The creature passed, the egg hatched, and the cycle went on. And on. And on, until one day the most recent egg refused to hatch.
That was three hundred years ago.

Now this is the story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the nanny of an egg in a chair
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the nanny of an egg in a chair
It's a tale told often enough. You've heard the beats before. Parents in lust, not love, produce a child that shackles them together. Resentment grows-- seeps into the child like a fresh sponge placed atop dirty dishwater. Turmoil, absence, neglect. Pinafore Pines acted out, spending their childhood taking what wasn't theirs and trying their best to hurt anyone who wouldn't let them. When little Pines was stopped physically, they simply figured out a way to do so anyway. This carried forward throughout the years, parents caring little about their teenager getting into fights, joining a school gang, and engaging in all manner of delinquency.
Left to their devices, Pines excelled in their chosen pastime. Unnecessary violence became one-sided pummelings at the slightest provocation. Covert theft became blatant five finger discount shopping. Small gang scuffles became one against many, the yanki coming out on top. The sheer frequency of violent confrontation and the attention this centered on Pines forced them to adapt, progress, and unwittingly begin using that energy that flowed through all living things, Ki. Pines realized that, through the crucible of juvenile crime, they had put themselves through enough rigor and pressure to come out the other end a force of nature among those that weren't versed in... well, Pines calls it "Laser Karate".
Delinquency had become their martial art.
Time and a whole lot of laurel resting matured and mellowed the hot-blooded bōsōzoku. Throw in a vaguely tragic death of one parent and the abandonment of the other, and Pines managing to graduate, and they were definitely ready to make a choice: Continue on their path, get into organized crime proper, and build something on the bedrock of their fists... or mellow out. Integrate into society, do something with their life, like most rebellious teens end up doing.
A third option was presented in the form of a letter from an uncle, who, having recently passed, left their closest living relative a small home in the mountains and all their possessions. They simply needed to agree to a task. A free place to crash and a modest come-up sounded great to Pines, and something to set their mind to even better. Once they arrived, a leather bound journal was presented by the Uncle's legal council, as well as a jet black oblong egg settled into an old rocking chair.
The journal contained a detailed list of rare plants and substances across the Earth, as well as a note.
"You must be very confused. I understand, but I cannot hope to impart the personal importance of the task I'm asking of you.
I have spent a majority of my life researching a lost method of hatching the strange egg you're being asked to care for. My mother handed it down to me, and her father to her, his father to him, and so on. We all had a duty we failed to take up, either because of our personal lives taking precedence, or outright negligence.
My own desire is born out of curiosity and a yearning in my heart. We're connected to the egg, and there's a reason it's been passed down. I am getting old, and cannot travel to gather what is necessary anymore, nor do I have the funds to hire those who can. I have no children. The idea of all my work going to waste is intolerable. I've written this in the hopes one of my bastard brother's spawn is worth more than the sum of their parts.
Whether it be motivated by familial duty, a sense of adventure, or simply greed, I implore you to follow the instructions in my journal."
"Sure, why not."
COMBAT INFORMATION
TECHNIQUES: You start with Three Standard Technique Slots and One Sparking Slot that you can use any way you like. Some species start out with additional slots, or access to certain slot-based abilities for free. You also start with two additional Utility Technique Slots.
Light Attack Technique || DelinquencyADDITIONAL NOTES: Rename starter transformation to "2nd Gear" por favor.
Pines puts years of bōsōzoku and yanki delinquency to use, causing as much harm as they can efficiently dish out without breaking a sweat. This amounts to flurries of ear-boxing, fish-hooking, eye-poking, and throat jabbing. Hey, as long as it works.
Power: 20%
KP Cost: 1 KP
Variants: KP Cost Reduction
Heavy Attack Technique || Crash Cross: Highside
A right cross delivered at the end of a lightning quick dash. Pines enhances the impact with a condensed burst of force, sounding off like a firing pin jamming into a shell of buckshot. Highside leaves a lasting impression, force transferred through the body rattling bones and internal organs.
Power: 80%
KP Cost: 6 KP
Variants: Bleed
Medium Defense Technique || Glare
A sharp glare with the backing of oppositional Ki serves as a silent kiai. The resulting burst of force is meant to stop or disperse projectiles and strikes. The threat the glare portends often comes to pass.
Power: 30%
KP Cost: 3 KP
Variants: Taunt, KP Cost Reduction
Sparking Light Attack Technique || Crash Cross: Lowside
A right cross delivered at the end of a lightning quick dash. Pines enhances the impact with a condensed burst of force, sounding off like a firing pin jamming into a shell of buckshot. Lowside is, to put it bluntly, a slip and groin shot.
Power: 50%
KP Cost: 1 KP
Variants: Counter, KP Cost Reduction
Utility Technique || Unlimited Capsule Works
After spending most of their youth "accepting donations" of capsules and their contents, Pines has amassed a now self-perpetuating collection of capsuled items, including but not limited to: Clothing, Miscellaneous Objects, Supplies, Weapons, Vehicles, and even Small Buildings. Larger or more complicated things will take more time to produce, as they're stored in capsules within capsules. This technique is passive and does not require KP.
(Reflavored Magic Materialization)
Utility Technique || Ki Suppression
Skilled control over your ki allows you to suppress your Power Level to a minimum of 1 PL to either hide or use this lower PL to fight characters weaker than your full strength on even footing. This technique is passive and does not require KP use.
