All things considered, it was a relatively bland day at the Bank of East City... in East City. Yeah from their time here Satanael was quick to conclude that Earthlings were either lazy or pure geniuses when it came to naming things. After all, if you head of 'North City' you'd expect it to be in the North, which it is. Still, it wasn't like they could distract themselves with the etymology of cities and businesses for long given the doldrums of standing around in a sizeable line where the only noises were hushed whispers, rustling papers, and the clacking of outdated computer keys. That combined with the marble floors, wood decorum, and luminescent slightly-yellow light made the entire affair as bone-suckingly dry as possible. Normally the god-demon preferred to do their banking either online or through one of their third party contacts, but there was specific matter that required the keen eye of a centuries-old attorney. The Dirty Snakes cash flow was a mix of illegal and legal means, with most legal funds coming in through the numerous casinos and hotels owned by the top dog Derry himself. The illegal funds had to then be laundered, either through said numerous casinos or through front businesses like the scattered car washes or corner stores owned by subsidiaries. This meant that sometimes an underling got the bright idea to try and shave off some of the money for themselves. Spoiler alert, that never ended well for them.
To be entirely certain of the discrepancy in this case Satanael had come to request an in-person showing of the deposit box used by this lone branch of the Snakes. Receipts and reports claimed it was chock full of the owed amounts but whistleblowers and a bit of digging revealed that there may be some things missing from the physical pile. Perhaps they planned on replacing it eventually with their own stipend, but the general rule of thumb was to not skim out on your boss to take out hidden loans against the organization. Of course this particular fool didn't know what exact organization he was working for. The Snakes set up several 'dummy' gangs and businesses to further scramble evidence of their existence, and while a smaller scale operation might not have noticed this admittedly small shaving of profits, it sent up flares for the trained crooks. That being said, another alarming thing was the sudden gathering of black garment clad Earthlings suddenly bursting through the doors into the bank. Satanael sighed internally as energy weapons were brandished, the aspiring robbers shouting orders as the civilians fell into a panicked mess. This was the most inconvenient time for a bank robbery for several reasons.
One, it delayed his investigation into the missing money. Two, if they accessed the deposit boxes and took the Snakes' share, that means the recorded numbers would be insured, meaning that the trail into the embezzlement would go cold. Third, it was plain annoying. With a flicker of annoyance the god-demon ducked behind a cubicle, energy surrounding them for a split second before Satanael simply warped away from the conflict and into the vault. To further obscure their true identity, the Demon's form shifted as their true power was released, turning their skin to a pitch-black color with a piercing yellow for eyes. If these criminals were competent they'd erase the security footage themselves, but Satanael wanted to be sure that linking any incidents at the bank to them would be difficult at best, and impossible at worst. Still, now that they were on the inside of the vault that meant there'd be a short delay before the robbers got access to it if such a thing was their goal, giving Satanael time to locate the proper deposit box and rip it from the wall with one hand. Aware of their own external timer, the lawyer began to sift through the box of funds and business ledgers...
