Pitt was happy to see the others were alert, it was expected of them but even the newest addition to the party seemed on guard. Mayze had volunteered to bring up the rear of their small formation. He was glad they had come across the mercenary before they began their descent, it wouldn't be fair to Vennel if she had to focus on the Powerball technique and keep an eye out. Pitt wondered if his mind was playing tricks on him in the pale lit underground. Perhaps a bit of gas got through his energy and was tampering with his mind?
Vennel piped up and brang him out of his thoughts. She encouraged him to choose the groups path, and stated they'd follow his lead. Pitt was sure of the danger present in the tunnel system, but surely one of them would be manageable. "Alright stay close, were in for a tough night I can fell it. Everyone watch each others backs. Whoever gets out of here alive gets an extra serving of meat." Pitt slowly but steadily proceeded down the closest tunnel to the group. The smell of mildew quickly hit his nose as they ventured a few yards down the narrow path. Pitt didn't want to get jumpy but he was slowly starting to believe that what he saw was no apparition. Signs of life started popping up on as they proceeded. Claw marks that seemed fresh were cut into the stone leaving black glass marks beneath the now green walls.
The myths and horror stories they use to pass around the fire pits in the slums when Pitt was a kid, came back to his mind. There was a myth that ancient Saiba men still walked the depths, mutated and forever trapped by their need for the noxious substance that perfumed the air. Those claw marks were much too big for a Saiba, but something definitely made them. There was a opening into another chamber ahead. He slowed down and tapped Mayze on the shoulder. "Want to check up ahead into that next area? You and Vennel go I'll wait here with Rensou sound like a plan everyone?"
