301The desert wastelands of Planet Loom was definitely something to admire. The red sands of this region along with the red sun made it a pleasant scene to enjoy. Upon arrival to Planet Loom, Yangcong had arrived with his former teal saiyan armor with orange chest plates. His gray tail was wrapped around his waistline and a fairly long right side crimson red cloak was covering his entire right side and stopping at the right knee. As he walked along the singular pathway ahead, he was greeted by a Loomnian soldier that wore desert style attire. He walked along side him as the two started to talk.
"Thank you for accepting my transmission Mr Yangcong."
"Not a problem, the saiyans said you needed aid?"
"Our prince had recently loss his father due to an assassination ambush. All reports stated that it was outside invaders that did it. But our prince believes that it was more internal."
"So why do you need me here?"
"We need you here because he needs to travel to the Eastern Kingdom, where the blue sun meets the blue sands. It's a deeper dangerous region than this one. Most of our elites are busy off doing other missions and such to keep the Kingdom active and stable since we don't want to risk any other type of assault. So we had no choice but to get hired help. All we need for you to do is escort the prince to the Eastern Kingdom, talk with the King over there and getting help from his Kingdom to help ours."
"We also have hired someone else to help along the escort as well. They sound be here in any moment."
Yangcong nodded and waited alongside the soldier and casually pulling out an apple and biting onto it.

Mayze’s spacepod soared through Planet Loom’s purple sky, crossing over gigantic sand dunes that dotted its desert surface. The red sun shone brightly in the air, its light brilliantly reflecting off his metallic craft, and beating down harshly on landscape below.
Mayze himself was asleep, having dozed off around the midpoint of his journey. Loom wasn’t far from Plant, so when a job had been listed back on Plant’s mercenary outpost, Mayze had greedily snatched it up. He was bored, a bit short on cash, and Loom was close. The saiyan had also recently installed an improved autopilot onto his pod, which made the journey even shorter! And… also may be why he was so short on cash, but it was totally worth it! At least, he told himself that. If he said it enough he’d start to believe it.
The job sounded pretty simple. An easy escort mission for some prince through some dangerous territory. Mayze had simply read the simple summary given, and hadn’t bothered to look into the larger context surrounding it. Nor had he bothered to read up on the planet or location much. He was too busy training to be bothered with that.
He had offered to split the contract with Haupien if he wanted to come along, but the konatsian had declined. Too busy doing whatever, Mayze hadn’t really asked.
His pod smashed into the ground, jolting him awake. He shook off the last vestiges of sleep, and popped open the door to his pod.
Mayze stepped out, stretching his cramped limbs as he scanned the horizon. He was lucky, sometimes on desert planets, the pods had a tendency to get swallowed by the sandy dunes. It made getting out… difficult. He had heard tales of poor folk asphyxiating in the sand. Sounded like a terrible way to go out. He nearly shuddered at the thought.
He took out a little waypoint device that had been given to him when he accepted the mission. It was a useful tool that would show him where he needed to go. About forty clicks to the east, not too far he noted with approval.
He rocketed off, moving swiftly through the skies to his destination. The saiyan powered up along the way, embracing the controlled rage that unlocked his hidden power. Best to practice my control as much as possible.
It took him a few minutes to arrive. Mayze descended slowly, surveying the scene below him. Two figures, one an older saiyan, the other a Loomnian soldier.
He touched down next to them, offering a nod and a simple greeting, “Yo. Name’s Mayze. I’m the hired help,” he offered a hand to the older saiyan.
He glanced over at the soldier, “What’s the situation?”
232The Loomnian soldier was quite puzzled to say the least. He thought all saiyans were like Yangcong, serious and to the point. Guess he shouldn't judge a book huh. The loomnian, who was a wrinkled lizard type of creature with the legs of a serpent, slithered his way towards the man. Yangcong briefly shook the boys hand while the loomnian spoke.
"Currently we need you both to head over to the Eastern Kingdom and escorting our prince over there. Our prince had recently loss his father due to an assassination ambush. All reports stated that it was outside invaders that did it. But our prince believes that it was more internal. The prince will talk to the King over there to get him to help our Kingdom. Now you both wait here while I get the prince."
As he left, Yangcong looked to the boy while he pulled out his cigarette and began to smoke as he lit it up with a small energy from his index finger.
"You smoke? Most saiyans do because of the ongoing war on Planet Plant."
He simply chuckled as he tried to find the humor in it as he shook his head in disbelief.
"Our mission is simple, escorting this prince over there, they talk, and then we come back. Should be easy enough..."
He had his doubts due to how his other missions have gone...

He nodded at the snake-like creature's words. Sounded like a typical escort mission. Just replace government figure and/or advisor with prince and it fit perfectly. He’d done several contracts like this in the past. Often, they tended to be boring, with really nothing happening. Generally, any would-be attackers were deterred by the extra firepower mercenaries brought. It made for easy cash, but, again, boring. Sometimes, it could get interesting. Mayze hoped this would be an interesting day.
“Internal hmm? Sounds like a typical kingdom to me,” he muttered with a sigh, “Right, got it, I’ll wait right here.”
Mayze turned his attention to the older saiyan who addressed him. He was… small, but he sensed an incredible battle point coming from him. Without a doubt, he was one of the strongest saiyans the mercenary had met. He was impressed, and that commanded instant respect.
He glanced at the box of cigarettes within the other saiyan’s hand and offered a response, “Smoking? Hmm occasionally, but it’s not a habit. Sometimes after a particularly grueling battle, a smoke can be helpful to unwind,” he nodded, “Can’t say I blame other saiyans for picking the habit up giving the hell that is Planet Plant,” he finished with a frown.
Mayze crossed his arms, nodding to what Yangcong said, “Yea, seems simple enough. Easy escort mission. I’ve done a dozen of em’. Also tends to be boring. Maybe there’ll be some excitement with this one,” he flashed a grin.
He shifted a little, somewhat nervous with the casual conversation, “Your battle point is incredible. Don’t think I’ve seen a saiyan with your strength. Seems a little overkill for a simple escort mission…”
He pointed at Yangcong’s cigarette with his thumb, “Why’d you start anyway?
316Yangcong simply chuckled as the boy stated he had done this kind of job several times. He didn't doubt the boy since he could sense his power level as well.
"Escort missions are not always simple. Danger lurks everywhere despite ones power level."
He took a casually lean back against the wall as he was asked why he started.
"I could give you my life story but that would take too long. Just know that, stress will kill you easier than this cigarette will."
As he finished the cigarette and tossed the end away, the prince had shown up. He looked like the soldier except he was dress with a crown and a lot of jewelry. Except his skin tone was more of a lighter teal and less wrinkled.
"Lets get going. We don't have much time."
Yangcong nodded and stood beside the prince as if he was his bodyguard.
"Not to worry, we will get you there safely."
As they started their journey through the desert, Yangcong had mentioned something to the prince.
"Is there a reason we aren't flying over there or transporting there by vehicle."
"We would have, however, this part of the desert has various beast. Taking a vehicle will only sink into the sand and be consumed up. Because the sands are said to be a living thing on this planet. And if we choose to fly, Gorgon's eye will shoot you down. That is why we walk."
It seemed like religious nonsense to Yangcong, but as he looked up at the sky, he saw a few birds dropping to the ground out of nowhere without getting hit by anything. Perhaps there was more to the story than Yangcong had originally thought. He looked to his partner and smirked.
"Hope you're ready."
The red sands and the red sun were present. The heat was only getting worst from here on out...

Mayze nodded at the older saiayn’s sagely advice, “Damn right about that. Seen a lot of fellow mercenaries get cocky on job and taken by surprise. Arrogance comes with a cost.” Still, he was powerful now… maybe it was okay to be a little prideful.
He gave a faint smirk at Yangcong’s joke, “Maybe so, both cause slow deaths,” at his power, Mayze fel needn’t worry much about stress. He suspected he was likely one of the strongest fighters in the universe at his current power! Oh, how unaware he was!
The soldier returned, with a much more regal very important looking member of his species. An expensive looking crown adorned his head, and he was covered with fine looking jewelry.
He nodded along with Yangcong’s assurances and fell in line, sighing when it dawned on him that they were traveling by foot. This was going to be a long day… and the desert environment wasn’t going to help. He idly hopped his pod would be okay when the Loomnian mentioned the sands were alive. Just to be safe, he sent a command to his pod via a wrist pad that ordered it to dock at a nearby port.
He popped his knuckles in response to Yangcong, “Of course. Ready for anything.”
As he walked along, he thought to ask the soldier about this mysterious force, “Gorgon’s eye hmm? What is that exactly? Didn’t seem to affect me. I flew over to you just fine.” The birds weren’t so fortunate...
He wiped the sweat off his brow as the sun beat down. It really was sweltering out here!
375The prince would look to the boy with a slight chuckle.
“Anyone entering the atmosphere with a ship won’t be bothered. You could essentially land anywhere on the planet without being disturbed. You can come and go as you please with your ship. However. When it comes to traveling on the planet rather than off the planet is different. Sure you can take a ship to the atmosphere and then go to your destination like that. But it would waste unnecessary fuel, along with time and resources.
Also the Kingdom isn’t that far to begin with. Our four Kingdoms are close by. We are the Western Kingdom most noticeably for our red sun and sand. The Eastern has blue sun and sand. The North has green moon and water and South has purple moon and water. However both the North and South doesn’t have any lands. Just one gigantic land for their Kingdom. The rest is protected by the oceans and creatures that guard it. We don’t have such luxuries here.
Gorgon’s eye is essentially the guardian of the red sands. Each Kingdom has its own guardian. However the guardians only care about their own interest and not of the peoples.”
As Yangcong kept listening, he nodded his head. The sun was truly getting to him and at this point. He looked to the boy and then back at the red sun.
“Thank Kami I packed water bottles.”
He would reach into his Saiyan armor and pulling out a capsule. He would now carry with him two jugs of water as he handed one over to the boy. The prince however, didn’t even drop a sweat.
“I find it interesting that your species need water to survive this heat. Our bodies don’t produce it.”
As the sun kept increasing the heat, Yangcong kept drinking. It wouldn’t be long now and Yangcong started to look ahead. Spotting a red pyramid just ahead... then with a single blink of his eyes, the entire horizon all around him had that very same pyramid. What made matters worst... he saw three princes and three Mayze.... they looked like clones and he was frozen in his tracks to even talk to them....

Mayze nodded at the prince’s words, “Is that right? Glad to hear. Was thinking I got lucky not getting blown out of the sky like those birds. I could see how that would be a waste of fuel. It does take more fuel to travel across a planet than through space, thanks to gravity and friction. Don’t have to worry about that in space. It’s not like fuel is cheap either.”
He followed along to the prince’s brief history lesson. It was a tad boring, but he appreciated the imparted knowledge, “Sounds like the creators blessed the north and south. Water makes for a great natural barrier…especially if people can’t fly. Guardians don’t care much, hm? Sounds about right. Those with power over others generally do not care for those inferior,” he gave the prince a questioning look, “What exactly are these guardians? Are they people? Mystical constructs? Magical entities?”
Mayze caught the bottle Yangcong tossed him. He nodded his thanks and took a few sips. The cold touch of the water soothed his parched lips, and after a moment he felt refreshed.
“Well, yea, water is… pretty important. Many living things in the galaxy need water to-” he stopped, something about the way Yangcong was acting bothered him.
The older saiyan had stopped in his tracks, and the look he had on his face was… different. Mayze shot him an odd look, wondering what was happening.
He gave a little wave in front of the Tuffles face, “Uhhh hello? You okay bud? Need some more water?” he offered up the water bottle previously given to him.
308His vision started to clear as the prince was talking.
"Age will do that to a person on this planet. The heat doesn't care who you are. Also, the Guardians here aren't exactly our people or a race in particular. In these lands, ours is called Gorgon. Yet we only have seen his eye present. The reason why he causes up a storm when people travel through his desert, is because long ago. We had a war between all four kingdoms. The guardians didn't involve themselves until we all were in the brink of extinction. Now we made a deal with the guardians that if we travel on their land, regardless of status. We can be killed by them no matter what. Only the strong survive these lands. We agree to it and since then, we were given food, water, and rebuilt homes. That is the power that the four guardians possess."
As Yangcong looked to the boy and cleared his vision, he smiled.
"Old age will eventually get to everyone i'm afraid.."
As he drank some of his water, he started to feel much better.
As they ventured through halfway of the desert, scorpion legshaped beings now coming out of the ground, with the torso of a lion, the head of a snake, and the arms of a crab. Swarms of them started to head towards the three of them! Yangcong was quick to step in front of the prince's way, brushing his crimson cloak to the side to reveal his right hand extending forward and blasting the majority of them to nothing but the pieces that that created them. However the huge swarm proved too much for Yangcong and he now got into a defensive stance as he started to channel his aura into his arms and legs and was ready for the attacks to happen.

“Glad to see you are feeling better,” he nodded at Yangcong, “If at any point you need to stop for a break, just say so. Not like we’re on a timer for this mission,” he looked at the prince, “Right?”
He listened to the story the prince gave, nodding along at parts. It made sense. He figured they were some sort of mystical constructs created by someone or something long ago. They couldn’t have simply come from nothing, that wouldn’t make sense to him at least.
“Sounds like these guardians are certainly something… do they prefer peace and stability between the kingdoms then? Perhaps they aren’t so terrible… although an eternal peace would get boring pretty quickly…”
He was about to press on with more questions, when strange creatures began to rise from the ground. They were an amalgamation of several different creatures, and looked fearsome. Mayze made to protect the prince, but Yangcong had beat him to it! The old man was quick on his feet yet!
They swarmed around the group, and for every one Mayze struck down, two more took its place. He also decided to move close to the prince, providing further protection for the vulnerable Loomnian.
Still the swarm was almost overwhelming, “Shit, if we don’t do something quick we’re screwed!” he yelled out amidst carnage. Coming to a decision, he decided to take a risk and fly just overhead of the group. Hopefully he was low enough that the guardians of the planet wouldn’t notice him.
Now that he didn’t have to worry about his own defense, the saiyan began to send powerful blasts of ki down onto the swarm. The mercenary made sure to take out any creature that dared get close to the prince! Hopefully, his efforts would begin to thin out the crowd. “What are these things?!”
406“The guardians want peace and there ultimate survival is this planet and we four Kingdoms had a war which could have destroyed the planet. But we were able to fix the problem.”
The creatures started to show up and the prince wasn’t worried one bit as he started to make himself taller with his snake tail as he began to meditate and close his eyes. Yangcong was busy firing off the ki blast and such with both his hands now. As the swarm kept coming and coming, he looked to the prince.
“This isn’t the time to pray. You have to get to a safer location because these creatures can get to you..”
A powerful aura had escaped the prince and now began to spread and touch the entire swarm. The illusion in which they saw was broken. The creatures that were there, had reverted back to the red sands. Yangcong had looked to the prince.
“Alright, what the hell is going on here?”
The prince went back to his normal posture and kept his hands to his back.
“This is Gorgon’s doing. His illusionary spells are so real that they are made to drain you to the point of exhaustion and when it’s over and done with. He will finish you off. Most of our soldiers are trained for combat and have this counter spells. However none of them are faster than compared to me. If we want to avoid his illusions entirely, we will have to travel through the ground.”
A nearby pyramid could be seen just up ahead and the prince took them there and was the first to enter. Many encryptions and whatnot were present along the walls.
“Truth be told, if I didn’t use my spell to remove the threat. You both would have been piled by sand and killed to death. These red sands are as strong as iron but can be lifted like ordinary sand.”
As they made there say through the pyramid. It started to shake and finally, several paths before them were given.
“Unfortunately, these pyramids and their exits are like a maze. These five tunnels is our first test. Four of them are fake, and the fifth one is the real one. Many soldiers have died going through these pyramids. What will we do?”
Yangcong looked at the pathways after the prince spoke. Looking to Mayze for some kind of answer.
Last Edit: Apr 24, 2021 14:58:14 GMT -5 by Yangcong
It was an illusion? Mayze was dumbfounded. He had been shooting at nothing? So much energy had just been wasted. Why couldn’t the prince have said something when the illusions had first appeared. Would’ve saved a lot of wasted effort. Oh well, at least he didn’t wait too long before doing anything.
“Gorgon, huh. Geesh, they didn’t mention this on the bulletin board. I’m surprised you weren’t left with more of your own soldiers. Must have a lot of faith in us mercenaries, we don’t really do ‘illusions, though.” he said while descending from the air. His feet lightly touched the ground, and he continued to walk alongside the group. “Truth be told, I’m not well versed in spells or counter spells. Thanks for the save though.”
Mayze was surprised when the pyramid they entered began to shake. He instantly readied into a combat stance, looking out for any potential adversaries. The mercenary returned to a normal stance when a choice between paths opened up instead of the enemies he had expected.
“Like a maze? Hmm, that’s just amazing,” he lightly snickered, “Well, haven’t people been here before? Has someone made a guide book? Maybe we could look one up on the net,” he said with a shrug. He looked back at Yangcong, meeting his gaze, “Well, I don’t have a clue either…”
He fell silent, ruminating for a moment. Which one should they go down? Well, nothing that a little eeny, meeny, miny, moe couldn’t help with. The saiyan mentally played the counting rhyme in his head, after a moment, he settled on a path.
He pointed towards the third path, “We will go through that one! Unless anyone has a better idea?” he looked towards the group, curious if they had different ideas.
346"Truth be told, we can't spend additional soldiers to escort me to another Kingdom. If we leave our Kingdom unguarded for a second, other Kingdom may attack us. Even though we live in relatively "peaceful times." My father was assassinated. The last thing we need to do as a Kingdom is further drop our security."
The prince then shifted his eyes back at Yangcong.
"I hope you're okay."
"I wouldn't worry too much about me, I have been through worst."
"A guidebook would essentially be useless, since the maze is always random and never the same at all. So its by chance that we pick the right one."
Since Mayze had suggested we take the third path, they however, had taken the wrong path and it would show right now. As Yangcong took the lead ahead and the walls behind them started to rapidly close in against the other wall and tried to squish them like a panic. The truth of the matter? All the pathways were traps and there was no right one to begin with. As the walls were closing, Yangcong was quick to run ahead and hopefully the others were catch up in the process. As he ran down the hallway, a bright light had shown the exit, only for their exit to be shut out with the wall closing that exit the same way. Yangcong wasn't going to die in a place like this and quickly had transformed with his muscles bulging and his strength put into a strong beam and destroying the wall entirely and freeing up the exit once again. As he stepped out of the hallway and now was in an open area, the last step in order for them to get out of this pyramid and reaching the blue sands would be a gigantic one eyed rock golem who scaled 10ft and weighing 5 tons.
The prince had recognized this golem, to be Gorgon's trusted guard of the pyramid.
"Watch out, this is Gorgon's trusted guard..."
Yangcong had looked back at the prince, wondering what they will do..
Last Edit: Apr 24, 2021 14:58:32 GMT -5 by Yangcong
“Hmm, well you know, it’s just a thought,” he said with a shrug regarding the guidebook. It couldn’t always be random! Maybe it was a loop of different puzzles or circumstances. Then it would have the appearance of being random if no one made it through too many times. Then again, it might just be random.
Mayze followed a few feet behind Yangcong, lightly whistling as they walked down the third path. They didn’t get far before the walls started to close in, aiming to squish them!
“Uh oh, not good.”
He watched Yangcong quickly dash ahead, and wasn’t too far behind himself. He grabbed the prince by the arm, pulling him along as he flew forward behind the path his saiyan comrade created.
Eventually, they came to an open area. Lying in wait was a gigantic rock golem that easily towered over Mayze himself. He gave a low whistle. That thing was massive!
He glanced over at Yangcong, and was taken aback by his changed appearance, “Uhh? The hell, when did you become so swole?” he questioned. No seriously, what the hell? How did this happen? He shook his head.
The saiyan glanced over at the prince after the royalty’s comment, “Trusted guard, huh?” Soo… not another illusion?” he warily asked.
Mayze didn’t wait for an answer before springing into action. He shot up a ki blast, aiming for the creature's eye in an attempt to blind it. He then rocketed into the air, dashing behind the large creature, and aiming a spinning kick for the back of its head!
He teased but he had mainly gotten swole due to his time in the federal system on Earth. He had watched as Mayze had hit the creature in his eye with a ki blast and then kicked it straight in the back of the head. As the creature placed both his arms out to keep himself from falling down face first. Yangcong was quick to grab the creatures arms and hurled it straight against the wall. The creature now was against the wall and Yangcong quickly fired a beam at it, only for the creature to shoot a beam from his eye and strike Yangcong’s beam and engulfing it to the point where he flew back against the wall. He was injured but not down for the count.
As Yangcong started to rise to his feet, the prince had came to his side and gave him a healing potion.
“Quick, drink this.”
As he grabbed it and drank it without second guessing, he started to feel better. He looked to Mayze as Yangcong himself started to formulate a plan in his mind.
“Distract the creature!”
he had hoped that his partner could hold his own.
