Well at least Mint had gotten his way and Yangcong admitted to the fault of his people, they had created this abomination of a gas that seemed to be only purposed for destruction... an efficient weapon, if an uncivilized one. Then, the important information that revealed what Azoth would consider a suspicious behavior, they were working on an anti-agent, but he had previously said that there was nothing that anyone could do about it... Azoth grew more and more suspicious of that man, and began to think that Mint was probably on the right path about this whole business thing.
The fact that the man said he could agree with confused the arcosian, however. Was he really the leaders of Tuffles, on Arcose, while his people suffered? If so, it would speak for the gravity of the situation, but that was really unlikely in his eyes.
'' So you are the current leader of the Tuffle people? It is my belief that if their trusted leader tell them that the empire wishes for them to be well, and we actually deliver on the goods we can bring, then I doubt people will oppose being part of the empire. The whole point is to still have a representant of the people to rule the planet, but that person answers to the arcosian emperor. I don't see what there is not to like, more things for everyone.''
Of course, the problem if globalisation was the dissapearance of unspecialized production against the competition, but that was a short-term loss for a long-term improvement of everything. Of course, Azoth completely ignored the second offer to assassinate his opponent, the arcosian was trying hard not to say the name so that misunderstanding or framing wouldn't happen, plus, he had Mint as a witness, and Mint was still neutral.
'' I admit I would prefer Tuffles over Saiyans as allies, but I will take whoever agrees with me and I can agree with. Mint is also right, if your kind's only other choice is extinction, or at the very least, the lost of their homeworld, I'm sure Arcosian support winning the war would shift the views of your people in favor of a benevolent empire. ''
Then, Azoth would give a deep sigh, the heat of the water had been helping his muscles, and it slowly began to not hurt anymore.
'' So I'll say this. Obviously, I cannot help you before the issue of who will be the emperor is decided. I would also, if the thought crossed your mind, to keep away from shady business regarding this conflict, although you are welcomed to officially support a canditate, if you truly are the leader of Tuffles, that could mean something, otherwise, your help will be welcome anywhere you go, I believe. ''
Azoth paused, took a breath and then looked into Yangcong's eyes intensely.
'' Then, when all of this is over and when I become emperor, we can talk about this business of yours, and we'll see about what needs to be done.''
Well, while Azoth hoped this meeting with Mint would be less political and more casual... that was quite the failure.
