Zuqetta sat alone in the former Throne Room, positioned upon the largest chair at what was meant to be her council table. It was the dead of night, and as she rested her chin upon her hands, leaning her elbow atop the table, she'd give little more than a heavy sigh. Her expression was complex, and she seemed worse for wear considering the many events she'd gone through up to this point. The constant castle break-ins, the rough experience with Ayu, the fight with Calot, the news of Yangcong, and so many more things; she'd yet to even handle all of it and it was beginning to become a heavy weight like no other upon her. Some time prior however, came the heaviest news of all, a response from Emperor Ticoga...
He'd received her missive, and in a single breath equally offered a warning while also seeking aid...
What was she to do? The pride of her people would not see them render aid to the Arcosians; hell, plenty of them sought to actually attempt warring against them in a foolhardy attempt at glory and conquest. Zuqetta knew little of the Mazoku beyond Gandigan, but she knew they had taken Lottus, that was all that mattered.
"..."
A heavy breath as the magic that sustained her mana veil wavered...
"Damn it..."
Soft, but firm; there was a conflict within her, and her gaze fell upon the council table. It represented an equal voice amongst her people; she would not lead them down a path that wasn't agreed upon by the people, yet not this table hindered her. It was new, hardly even used, but so soon it had become such an obstacle to her.
"Lottus, you... you damn fool!" She'd shout, her energy flaring around her briefly, picking up a gust of wind in the room, "Why did you get captured? HOW did you get captured!?" she'd hiss, speaking to no one in the room as she simply tried to process the events, "You're LOTTUS! The First Super Saiyan, the World Breaker, a stupid hero to so many of our people for whatever dumb reason! You can't be beat!" She'd exclaim... but she knew that wasn't true...
Obviously it wasn't true, there were plenty of records that showed how often he WAS in fact beaten, with one loss stemming from Zuqetta herself. Lottus... as strange as it still was to even say, was just a normal guy... Hurt, unhinged at times sure, but everyone had her failings and baggage, he was just her cousin. She simply wanted an excuse, she wanted to believe there was something or someone else involved... but there wasn't. She would grit her teeth firmly, her power beginning to surge and swirl around her as her anger rose.
"Yangcong." she'd growl lowly, her eyes narrowing on the council table in frustration.
She tried to calm herself, tried to focus on the teachings Patience worked to instill in her, but she simply couldn't. Her rage boiled that not only had that snake returned, but he'd gone after her family, HER family! The audacity of it, after his lies, after his betrayal, he'd crawl out of whatever hole he was in for all these years and IMMEDIATELY attempt to make her life worse AGAIN!?!
A burst of energy sent the chairs around the council table flying, the stung lights above swaying violently, several bulbs shattering. She stood up from her own seat, the thing apparently held together only by her magic as it seemed to crumble once she had risen.
"How... How did Taori do this? Or Amara? Rosemary? How did ANY of you do this?" she questioned, her heart heavy as she continued to stare at the damnedable table; her furious expression tightening, worsening in her anger. Then, a brief moment of calm, "You didn't... none of you did, you each took the throne but for one reason or another, you all left..." she'd say somberly; they had their reasons, she wouldn't dispute that, but it didn't change the fact that they'd left.
None held the throne for even a single year, no consecutively at least. Was the damned role of monarch cursed? Did it drain their energy and leave them as little more than husks!? Rosemary had vanished long ago, and she'd seen no sign of Amara since the day of that challenge; it was lucky then that Taori retired when he did! Zuqetta closed her eyes, would she suffer a similar fate or worse? Would her desire to change things lead only to more destruction? Such thought were best left for another time, as right now there was a more important situation on her mind-
"Lottus..."
She'd open her eyes once more, slow and cold, her gaze transfixed on the table; the Council wouldn't approve of an Arcosian team up. In fact, she could almost hear the many voices of her people now... "strike at Arcose while it's defenseless!", of course that's what they would want...
Silence...
She took a calming breath, closing her eyes and straighten her posture as she craned her neck towards the ceiling.
"But that's not what I want." she spoke, remembering Ticoga's words as she internally referred to herself as a tyrant in this moment.
Suddenly, her form would erupt into an explosive golden aura; her mana veil broken, the city would be assailed by the intense pressure of their Queen's power. Fueled by rage, Zuqetta would bring her fist down upon the accursed table which dared to hold her back. It would explode, pieces flying in all directions; symbolic? Without any witnesses, probably not, and it was pretty damn cathartic. She understood now what Jagaimo had destroyed the throne.
"Jaggy... damn it, she's not gonna like ANY of this." Zuqetta would sigh, but she had little choice; she would save Lottus by any means necessary, she wouldn't let any stop her. Not her friends, not her family, not her generals, not her people, NONE OF THEM!
With a snap of her fingers, she'd materialize a recorder drone; she was still flustered, still angry, she couldn't let Ticoga know how she was feeling so she'd instead send a simple, digital message. Mere text of words to be relayed through the same channels in which he had sent his message to her.
Emperor Ticoga (For the message)
Calot Vocado Jagaimo Zuci Zerori and Zriracha (for being closely associated with Zuq and likely in the city as she does this)
(and little Ayu too just because she might be in the castle right now lol)
