How long was she living in the southern side of the world? With Calot, with the jungle right outside her window? Ayu did not count days or weeks but it started to feel like she was here since... Always.
It was easy to say that Ayu was a busy soul. Lately, she did nothing but investigate the tropical forests around the place, coming back home happy with leaves and tiny twigs in her hair. She climbed the palms, roamed through bushes, and watched the wild animals jump from branch to branch. And there were a lot of new things to see! Flowers, streams, scents of tropical herbs, and creatures she had only seen in picture books before! Whenever the little girl had some free time she was outside exploring the area of Papaya Island - staying away from the crowded places of course. Spots popular with tourists, beaches, resorts, and cities, no, those were not places for her. Ayu felt much more at ease when she was surrounded by a thick greenery, with emerald foliage in every direction. The trees rustled gently, talking directly to her soul with their subtle energy and the girl was content by simply listening to them.
At this point, she knew the majority of the jungle by heart. A map of the area was being made inside her head, with spots like ponds and giant trees marking the observation points. And one of her favorite places was in the center of the rainforest, a silvertop ash tree towering over everything else. A mountain or rather a king of the jungle!
Taller than the tallest buildings in the city, the tree was growing quietly here. Wide, large branches stretched in every direction, full of smooth glossy green leaves. When the little girl reached the base of the adult plant, it felt like she was standing again in front of Calot's mansion - that's how wide this silvertop tree was! Ayu smiled and gently embraced the black and furrowed bark on the trunk, closing her eyes and pressing her cheek against the tree. She could sense the energy within - so unlike people and animals but unique in its own way... It reminded her of the cool soil deep underground and slow streams of water.
After a long moment of listening to her friend's energy, Ayu tilted back her head, looking up. That was a long way up there... Maybe she should climb or ask the tree for help? Stroking softly the bark with the tips of her fingers, she walked around the trunk, pondering how should she get up there. To be fair, she never was up there... And Ayu wanted to look at the jungle from above and sit on the wide branch - that was the one spot she had never told or shown anyone before. It was supposed to be a secret... But what type of secret location is it if she doesn't know how to reach it?
