It had been weeks since Kaal's first encounter with the awol soldier Kimono Lamellar, and it was still one of the few things that remained directly on the forefront of the young man's ruminating mind. Not only because it was one of his only true failures in the short beginning stint of his fledgling "hero" career, but because he had allowed such a potentially dangerous individual to continue to roam the streets of the planet free and without proper surveillance.
Or, at least, he wanted to believe that was part of the real reason why Kaal couldn't stop thinking about it all the time. In all reality, it was a bit more selfish than one would believe.
Kim symbolized not just another failure in the technical sense, but another person that Kaal had failed to help in their lowest moment. The one other time he had failed another individual in such a way was what spurred the blond billionaire on this whole journey of his in the first place, and to experience practically a revisit to such pain was, unnerving, to say the least.
Yes, she was dangerous, and yes, after further reviewing of her file from what Sav was able to dig up in the weeks after their first encounter, maybe she wasn't the most clean of soldiers either. But even in spite of all that she had done and been through, that look on her face as she reached out for Kaal's hand still remained plastered deep in his psyche.
Kim may have made mistakes, but she was still human. Another person, in need of something that no one else had cared to give her for years at this point- and that was help.
Though, admittedly, it was pretty hard to help someone that you didn't even know- especially if you didn't know where they lived in the first place. But, thankfully, Kaal was a resourceful young man, with an overabundance of resources at his disposal. So, it didn't take too much effort to divert a good amount of those resources toward the tracking down and locating of Kim for a proper meeting.
Part of him, when beginning the search, wondered how long it would potentially take. Seeing as she was former special ops, and was trained in the art of secrecy and undercover work from the Earth government's very best, he knew she'd take great care in covering any trail that her Hutong mist of hers would be leaving behind in her wake.
Or at least that's what he thought, before Sav had let him know that there was a certain apartment complex hidden away in the depths of South City with a tenant whose details appeared to match that of Kim's own profile. After reviewing the details, lining up the timeline of events with the timeline showcased by the tenant's payments (or lack thereof), Kaal was more than certain that this was the lead they were looking for.
So, after preparing himself for the encounter, Kaal wasted no time in tracking down the apartment building in question- a shoddy, out of the way looking little thing that certainly matched what a person like Kim would choose considering her predicted state of affairs. Not wanting to make too big of a fuss, the blond chose to make his reappearance in the most casual clothes he could find- that being, by his definition, a leather jacket with a plain white shirt and a pair of navy-blue slacks to pair with it. Certainly showy, but, he just couldn't resist. First impressions were important after all!
Following his convincing the landlord of the idea that he was only there to visit a friend, Kaal quickly made his way through the floors, walking out of the elevator onto the floor that Sav denoted as Kim's with a heavy sigh.
Would she try to escape upon seeing him? He allowed his mask to fall for a few seconds within their first initial encounter, so Kaal knew Kim knew what he looked like already. Would she attempt to finish the job she left undone?
Either way, Kaal was determined to tie up this loose end. No matter what it would cost.
Standing before Kim's door, Kaal knocked on the wood gently with a couple rhythmic taps of his knuckles. Waiting for whatever was to greet him.
