Flax rubbed her gloved hands together, a shiver running down her spine. Wherever she was, it was cold. Far colder than anywhere on Konats. It was lucky that the coat she'd gone on the run wearing was thick enough to stave off the frigid air, but that still only kept her so warm.
Aside from the cold, though, the shadows hungered. They hadn't been satiated in some time, and if they weren't, well, only bad things happened. Luckily, Flax had caught wind of a dojo, filled with promising martial artists at the base of this mountain, and while she didn't relish the idea of just waltzing in and attacking people, she reasoned it was better to attack those who could defend themselves than innocent, unsuspecting civilians.
And so, the former Konatsian pulled up in front of what the small town's directory indicated was the dojo she was looking for, and, without knocking, stepped inside.
It was a quaint little place, still fairly chill, though not quite as harsh as the unprotected air outdoors. Various students of the dojo trained around the room, most of them too focused on their technique to notice Flax. Her boots thudded loudly against the floor as she walked further in, and she was quickly approached by someone she assumed had to be a student of the dojo. "Hello, ma'am," he greeted her with a bow. "Is there something I can help you with?"
Flax smiled at the man. "No, not really," she said with a shrug. "Sorry about this."
"Sorry abou-" the man was cut off as a black tendril of dark energy shot out from beneath Flax's coat and hit him square in the chest, sending him flying back across the room, where he crashed right into the wall! Suddenly, everyone's eyes were on Flax, who was now oozing dark energy across the floor, the darkness inside of her trembling with excitement at the prospect of feasting on the energy of so many potent fighters.
"This isn't gonna kill any of you," Flax stated as she stepped forwards, "But it ain't gonna tickle, either. And uh, you're gonna feel pretty awful for the next few days. Sorry." With that, the darkness instantly began to lash out at the dojo's students, some being hit and knocked away almost immediately, and others able to dodge and hold their own for a time, but it was clear that unless someone more on Flax's level came in to stop her, pretty much everyone was going down soon enough.
