Tarine's current situation was a... complicated one. Who knew running away from everything you knew without a word to anyone would've had consequences? He... obviously didn't apparently and that caused... quite a few problems actually.
Skipping the more... awkward parts, his months-long stint on Plant had technically caused him to be listed as a missing person- as tended to happen when you raised so many red flags by disappearing without a trace, ditching you job and stopping your rent payments. Things he really should have paid attention to were put in motion while he was too busy filling his head with other ideas and when he came crawling back home it turned out he didn't have one.
Reality sure liked to hit where it hurt.
Moving past the legal issues... the only thing he could do from there was go to his family for help... after he'd been no-contact with them for... 2 years...? Yeah.
Living with his parents again was something...
…As of late his mum had been insistent he needed to be going out more- something he resisted, naturally. Whatever her idea of him was was wrong and he was an adult so- yeah, she got her way.
He wasn't embarrassed at all, she was lucky it still worked.
…Admittedly he was curious too, literally every news source was claiming a world-famous mountain was suddenly spewing rivers of iced coffee and other sweet treats overnight and that made absolutely no sense. But no matter what it was, publicity stunt, desperate attempt at driving tourism to the north or any other bizarre scheme, he couldn't say he liked it. Screwing up the landscape by dumping millions of gallons of sugar on it seemed in bad taste when Earth had already suffered so many other blows to its natural beauty.
And the thought people were actually drinking stuff that's potentially been sitting out in the sun for weeks made him feel nauseous.
Regardless of his feelings on the matter he'd still been dragged, yes, dragged to the north pole by his own damn mother to see this.
He'd been shoved into an appropriate number of coats for this adventure, his mother was similarly dressed... if not for the fact she didn't seem to mind at all that her hood was down and the outfit wasn't zipped up properly. Considering these were temperatures well below zero, Tarine had definitely voiced his concerns earlier, but being blown off so casually about how this was no big deal left him a little huffy and he settled instead on using other tourist's looks as vindication.
To be fair he was probably strong enough to withstand these conditions too, the coat was just comfier.
The site was decently well-built for something so quickly constructed, probably some sort of capsule-constructed dome for a brightly-coloured gift shop... guard rails set up just before a dip in the landscape and the caffeinated deluge started... would have been better if people were following the safety guidelines.
Tarine was watching someone trying to reach over the fence and stick their hands into a mound of cream drifting by in disbelief. The person next to him was an older woman probably somewhere in her 40's, without the hood it was easy to see how brightly red the hair flowing down was- close to the tuft sticking out the man's hood... actually anyone with a sharp enough eye could see the resemblance between the two, besides the lady's sharper features and more amused- if still alert look while she paid more attention to the other groups milling about.
"Why did you make me come out and see this?"
"Because it's fun?"
