Ryuseki had made a couple of connections since traveling to this side of the Universe. He had even gotten into a few worthwhile scraps, and kicked some ass. He was happy to know his name was going to get out there, even if it was only 5% to the level of his liking. But one thing was for sure, him and Shem had not come across the embarrassment of riches that they were under the impression of retrieving upon their arrival.
Granted, they had just got there in the grand scheme of things, so there was plenty of time for the trail of glory to unveil itself. In the mean time, they were tired of eating crappy convenience market sushi and decided they were going to have to hunt to find food.
Shem, being a wolf and having the power of ki sensing, was the perfect hunting dog and was absolutely the right partner for this type of scenario. After camping out and resting in the Guru's Forest, they found themselves amongst a cacophony of wildlife sounds and commotion, not too far from a well populated animal habitat. There was probably already a lot of nature's circle-of-life-style hunting taking place before they even arrived.
"You know what to do, Shem," Ryuseki said. "So far, all we've caught is a couple of rabbits, which is great for a snack, but it won't last us. We're gonna need at least a fox, but hopefully a bear or something of the like to really strike gold. We can even sell what we don't use!" Baltimore was getting excited at the idea of taking down a bear.
He didn't have any fancy equipment or even much patience for the typical hunting strategies. He wanted to go hand to hand, which is why he wasn't necessarily looking for deer or other small animals who were going to run. There was a tinge of bloodlust in the undertow of his intentions.
Shem ran east of where Ryuseki was stationed, galloping swiftly but surprisingly quietly. Sek stayed behind a number of meters to utilize the element of surprise. The dog smelled something but he wasn't quite sure what it was just yet. "I'll give you the signal when it's time," Shem said to Ryuseki telepathically. He stopped to look around for a bit and reconfigure his direction. "Which way...which way..." he thought. The wolf looked to its left, and looked to its right before heading north.
Slowing down to a creep and deliberately ribboning through bushes and pockets of trees, Shem caught wind of something. He had no idea what he was in for though, as he came upon the silhouette of what looked like some type of enormous bear, with strange ki and energy that he had never sensed before...
