The Curious Case of the Runaway In The Night
Lu Rose - Earthling - 5,000 PL

In the middle of the night somewhere within Central City, there rests a small bunny in her bed, staring up at her popcorn ceiling with complete boredom. It was one in the morning on a school night, and yet despite her hardest efforts, she couldn’t sleep. In her mind, there lay only one thought, and that being her deal she made with her parents. Because Lu had been so adamant about becoming a superhero, her parents let her become one on the account that she backed out when danger became too much to handle and that she kept her schoolwork on the top of her game. The schoolwork was proving difficult with her new part-time hero-ing, but so far, nothing has proved a challenge, and while that didn’t necessarily bother Lu, it felt like she had only the easy villains. Was it possible that there were worse Villains out there? Hiding in the shadows? Lu desperately wanted to find out, but even as a hero, she had a bedtime. Was it right to break curfew just to try and jail a few baddies before lights out? No matter how much Lu tossed and turned in the night, she couldn’t get to sleep. What if there was a villain out there right now and no one was stopping them? Someone could be hurt! After four hours of internal debate, Lu had made up her mind. She needed to do a patrol just to make sure no one was out causing havoc. If there was evil afoot, she would put it to an end!
Getting up from her bed, Lu tip-toed her way to the closet and pulled out a pair of warmer clothes for the central city nightlife. After putting on a pair of sneakers and wrapping her trusted sword onto her back with a piece of shoestring, the young hero crept from the house, double checking every floorboard so as to not make a peep. Living with rabbits, you learn very quickly not to make that mistake when going for midnight snacks or sneaking in an additional hour or two of mega dude. What felt like a year later, Lu eventually got outside and into the dark streets of the residential area. Now, being out here in the dark, it was sinking in quickly that this was going to be no easy feat for a small bunny in a big city. With fear beginning to fill her heart, a lot of doubt filled the young bunny’s mind, but she was too determined to give up now. Taking a deep breath, Lu turned towards the east and began running down the streets, taking her usual turns to get the heart of Central City, because if there were gonna be any bad guys, it would be where all the big, adult stuff happened.
An hour later, a lot longer than Lu expected to be out, she found herself both disappointed and appeased that no dangers had sprung up. Sitting atop a big bank building with her paws stuffed into her jacket, the child kept blowing raspberries into the wind from her boredom. This trip had been scary at first, all alone in the night, but now, it was turning out that there were no villains to be spotted. The best she managed to catch in her ears was an argument about taxes or something, but she didn’t know how to do those yet, but it didn’t seem like much of a hero’s work anyhow. It was almost quitting time, especially with the chance that her parents already know that she’s snuck out, it was quickly becoming time to turn in. With one simple motion, the girl gave herself a big stretch, about to forget the night’s silence before her ears shot straight up at the sound of a gunshot in the distance. Action! Finally!
Taking a big leap off the building, Lu dropped directly into the road below, causing a car to swear to avoid hitting her. She couldn’t find it within herself to apologize though, taking immediately to full speed. Something was happening! Finally! It was her time to shine, and no doubt about it now! She was going to make herself into a hero. A short run away, Lu found herself in a storage center where some of the units had been unlocked and opened. Inside were a ton of armed figures, holding guns of shapes and sizes. Some of the figures that weren’t holding weapons were toting boxes, furniture and valuables from the storage units and into large trucks, most likely to sell them for later. In the center of all this stood a short man with strange features, most likely a Zoanthrope, shouting at a man with big muscles with a shy complexion about him. “I don’t care if you were angry that you couldn’t pick the lock, you shooting it might’ve just cost us this gig!” The short, fuzzy man said with obvious aggression. “Now get to loading before I use my own gun to shoot you, ya oaf!” The large man, obviously shaken, turned around and ran for a lockbox, where he would quickly behind shoveling in as many boxes as he could.
Squaring herself in between a bush and a lamppost, Lu watched the events unfold while trying to come up with a plan. Most of the plan was to swing at the bad guy until they fell over was the typical plan, and in most cases, it usually worked for bad guys, but these ones were equipped with really big weapons. Rocket launcher big weapons. A weapon like that would not only hurt her, but all the other bad guys and the stuff they were moving. It wasn’t the safest idea anymore, so she needed to come up with something else and fast. It was becoming quickly evident that they would be leaving soon and without a plan, she was a bust, but no matter how hard she thought, nothing else came to mind.
