Papri enjoyed strolling through the outskirts of Hatchi City, the Forest just a bit further out but the landscape that was cleared around the city was well maintained and parks with complex time controlled water displays littered the areas, on occasion she would encounter another Dercattan at these places and share a simple conversation, enjoying their shared customs and similarities that had been lost in times of strife. With all the commotion since the encounter in and around the Ruined metropolis a few months ago. The tension seemed only to be building. Who knew when it would finally crack.
A small rise came across the path that normally gave Papri a wonderful view of the city, but something was off today. There were no celebrations planned, but there was smoke on the horizon. A dark thick smoke that was tainted smoke, the smell hadn’t reached this far out but it was clear something was very wrong.
She crested the hill. Only to find the city was burning, great hulking shadows jumped between the tall buildings, tearing them apart as if made of children’s toy bricks. Collapsing, burning and already ruined buildings dominated the streets of the city. Shock washed over her, stunned into a lifeless stare as her knees gave way. She saw vehicles trying to make their way through the rubble that littered the streets, others on foot, some of whom had made their way out. Fleeing desperately in ones and twos. None seemed to have made it as far as the single Dercattan who knelt in awe of this display.
Off in the distance they could detect the significance of the ki being exchanged, great blasts that would eradicate the water girl. She could do nothing but hope that the destruction would be stopped.
Somehow, despite the sight ahead of her. She could not look away, her eyes streamed with tears that daren’t leave her skin but the eyes were unable to close, perplexed by the visions of the burning city she wished to call home so desperately.
Thoughts of rage, revenge intermingled with fear and helplessness. She wanted to find whoever was responsible, make them pay for what they had done, but there was no feeling in her legs as the fear of what the great powers in the city could do to her. What they wished to do to her, left her numb. Her eyes remained open, the light of the fires reflected within, glowing brighter and brighter.
