BRICK AND MORTAR
| Cato's PL: 26,000 |
There was something deeply uncomfortable about this dead city. Cato didn't know when the city fell, nor who had held it when it did meet its final end. She supposed it probably passed through the control of either side of the war multiple times before the end, as only that could explain such complete destruction. That was what she was hoping, at least -- if her forebears had walked this city, either as residents or as occupiers, there might be some slim chance of unearthing something that would prove valuable in search. What she really needed to find, she knew, was some sort of archive or library -- or perhaps an old listening center, or an operations center.
The only problem was, the city had been picked clean of valuables in some sections, and was completely overrun with Destron in others. If anything was still here that was worth her acquiring, it would be locked away in the tunnels beneath the city, hidden where not even someone of her hardy constitution could reach it without risking severe harm to herself. But she had a solution: to clear the Destron out of the underground network was far behind her abilities, but to siphon some of it off -- that was much more doable.
She had spoken of her plan to a scientist back in Sadala, and he had warned her of its risks. Done correctly, she would be able to loose enough Destron to get into one of the more polluted networks near the heart of an old military facility. It probably wouldn't have what she was after, but it might point her in the right direction. Done incorrectly, she could well flood the streets with even more of the horrible smog, and damage efforts to restore the city even further -- and perhaps even risk the surrounding region, as well.
It was a risk she was willing to take, but not everyone felt that way.
As Cato loomed over the city and took aim on her chosen spot, which she believed to be situated just over a particularly nasty concentration of Destron, she was entirely unaware that the very scientist who had guided her to his course of action had found himself with cold feet. He had alerted authorities of her plans, and they opted to scramble a squadron of fighters. Given her significant power, however, one of the lieutenants had opted for outside help. Unbeknownst to her, a reward now loomed over Cato's head: not for her elimination, necessarily, but for her removal from the dead city: for the good of Plant, and ultimately, for her own protection.
"That's the spot," she murmured to herself, gathering energy in her palm. A moment later, and that sphere of golden ki was rocketing down towards the earth, threatening to blow a hole open in the street and to loose the horrors bubbling beneath. "Mortar Shell!"
Cato is trying to open the earth to let out a significant amount of Destron, so that she can explore a section of the depths without worry! This is probably bad for the environment, and a price has been set for stopping her.
She fires her light offensive technique, Mortar Shell to do it with a whopping 5,200 PL damage.
