Celerous had been warned against traveling the Land of Ice. It was supposed to be an inhospitable part of the Earth, where only the foolish tried to venture. It had as many dangers as it did beauties, supposedly, but Cel had been willing to attempt the trek. Tread carefully, they said. You'll freeze to death, they said. The ice will crack beneath your feet, they said.
They were, at least, right on that last part.
More than once, the ice beneath him had given out, falling into the frozen caverns that lay below. Were it not for Celerous' quick reflexes, and the ability to fly, he'd have fallen half a dozen times over. Probably to drown or be crushed under an avalanche. Or impaled by an icicle. None of those seemed very appealing to the young hybrid. Even so, he continued on. Because apparently the Land of Ice had the best view of the aurora borealis. Living on the Eastern Pastures for his whole life, Celerous had never seen it.
Considering that he'd actually been to other planets, Cel figured he was overdue.
So here he was, dressed in thick snow gear, making the trek on foot instead of just flying. The winds were sort of crazy this far North, and while he could definitely bulldoze his way through them, it was more enjoyable to actually hike. Having otherworldly powers was pretty neat, but sometimes mundane things were better. If nothing else, risking hypothermia made for a good workout. An ordinary Earthling might have disagreed with that notion, but most ordinary workouts didn't really do much for Celerous.
Or maybe he was just trying to justify his foolhardy decision to come out here. Big power level or not, most people didn't hang out around these parts. At the very least, Celerous hadn't seen a soul in several hours. Central City was about as far North as most people were willing to go.
