The actual propulsion on her end sent her higher and higher up and away from the dragon as it burned, palms tingling from the static sparks of latent energy that burn of power sent through its exhaust. Tomino wasn't very... Used to such heights, so she'd find it a little difficult to really appreciate the beautiful nature of the earth from way up above even these large peaks.
"Hmm." She'd only get a moment to stare beyond the horizon before her ascent turns into freefall, and she'd have to think up something to slow herself down, less she splats. She wasn't actually as worried splitting with this energy coursing through her, but she imagines it still hurts just letting her body crater... And she's no fighter. Pulling her hands down to her sides, she'd engage and try shooting out a smaller, consistent stream of energy. While tests have given her a better sense of her momentum in freefall, it was a different story trying to find a stable ground to lower herself on.
The good doctor had the option to either hit her feet on some craggy rock or try maneuvering. And seeing Slayg's pained roars were keeping him busy, she had more than enough time to decide on the latter. Lowering herself not too far from where the two initially engaged with a sigh of relief. Dusting off the slightly burnt parts of her coat loose of ash and dirt. She won't let her guard down for long, even if she could probably tell far in advance when this big beast was making his next move.
Slayg roared for a good few moments as the blue fire that was not fire burned at his hide. He had never felt this type of pain before. Blunt force, sharp things, these had pierced his hide or broken his bones... and ki attacks had always hurt him. But only once before had he felt the sensation of burning, and that fire had been pink... Oh how he hated this time and its changes, things that could hurt him and kill him. The philosopher-witch, she had to die. If her creation could harm him, an army of fools with access to them would hunt him down to the ends of the Earth. Perhaps even beyond if he tried to flee to the stars.
From high above, he sniffed and spied around the mountainside. He had seen Tomino fall to the ground, and he knew she wouldn't just let herself strike the rock and dirt at high speeds. He spied her among the rocks, but he had an idea. While he couldn't sense the machine, he could sense the philosopher-witch, though he could not sense the strength that her machine gave her. The doctor had put all of her faith in that machine, and she probably knew he could not sense its power. She also, presumably, assumed he was a big, stupid oaf of a creature whose ignorance equaled a lack of cunning, simply because he did not know what she did of the world.
In other words, she was smart enough to fool if he pretended to be stupid.
"Where are you, witch?! I know you are hiding here somewhere on this mountain! I'll find you! I can smell your blood, your sweat, your fear! I'll find you, and then I'll roast you alive!"
From high above, he called down to her, pretending that he could not see or smell her. Hopefully, after her stunt, her machines needed a moment to recover their energy, just as he did. He would let her hide away, plan her next move... then burn the whole mountain side once he had regained enough energy.
Slayg uses no technique this turn! Instead, he tries to out-think the brilliant Doctor Nahn! +2 KP 4/6 KP +1 MP for posting 5/6 MP WC: 350 Total WC: 3,001 DAM: 120/250%

Well, the large dragon's intuition was right. Like any warrior after throwing around large blasts, the pads themselves needed time to really cool off between expelling atmospheric energies from around them. It was tricky to make such reactions work outside a larger shell like an endless energy core, but it did wonders to cut down on size and costs. Physical costs as well as dedication to have a body tailored for cyberization. Neither of which Tomino was a big fan of giving or forcing upon people.
The large dragon seemed to have some inkling of understanding that she was actively harder to perceive because of the power she used. The professor wasn't exactly a coward, per see, but she also wasn't a trained fighter. She had very little intention in seeking ou conflict as soon as possible like a lot of battle-hardened. She was still here, present, she could respond accordingly if the big guy decided to jump her or, for some reason, ran off to terrorize elsewhere.
So she bided her time, calmly pondering on the cliffside right next to a massive boulder she nearly dove atop of on her descent. Watching the burning plamic blue glow wane with each passing second over her palms. Tomino quietly awaits the dragon while catching her breath and letting the pads cool off.
Slayg kept his focus firmly on Doctor Nahn as he steadily gained altitude. She was more difficult to sense if he wasn't looking for her, yes, but all things had a unique scent, sight, and aura about them. So long as he didn't get too terribly far away, so long as he stayed in the vicinity of the mountain, Tomino could not hide from him. He knew she was standing near a cliff on the side of the mountain. He knew she had several hiding places she could turn to if she thought it would help. There were plenty of trees and boulders, and he had made yet more hiding spots with his stomping and excavating. Holes and mounds of dirt, shattered bits of rock and raw ore, fallen logs and trees... the possibilities were endless for something as small as a person.
And yet, she seemed to only bide her time. Content that he could not find her simply because he was high up and far away. Let her bide her time, as he bided his. Let her rest, let her think she was hidden... for in mere moments, it would not matter.
With insincere sweetness, like the sweet poison put into lesser wines, he spoke again.
"Come out now, little one. Surrender your wondrous little machine, and I shall let you flee with your life back to your cloister!"
She wasn't going to accept the deal. Nobody ever accepted the deal. At best, they would take the opportunity to run and get as far away from him as possible. At worst, they would stay silent and try to sneak up on him with a little dagger or other sharp thing. This natural philosopher he faced would be no different, Slayg thought, for she was too smart not to read the anger behind his words. The rage and pain.
Slayg skips again. Soon, his moment shall come! +2 KP 6/6 KP

She could only wait out the flying beast for so long. He would grow impatient, furious even. Tomino had to factor in that even if she couldn't be sensed in some way, he was more than able to catch her trying to leave. Hell, getting to a better position towards the peaks and closer to him wasn't even feasible if she wanted to try. The good doctor was a poor sneak.
With her palms no longer tingling and pads finally sorting itself with the faintest sputter of blue finally dying down, she had a choice; Just face the dragon with that same confidence she always had, or distract him just a bit longer. Slayg's faux concessions made a certain part of her remember just how much this meant to her on a fundemental level. The dragon was still playing low and not treating her as anything resembling an equal. Such arrogance of the naturally gifted.
"Funny. Are you the thief now, great dragon?!" She'd put her hands in her trenchcoat pockets and just spin around the boulder to reveal her form in full. Shouting up at the beast with a determind glare in those steely blue eyes.
"What even are you doing up here in the peaks of Five Element? This place is not your home. Long has its supernatural gifts been a test for the gifted and a cultural signifier for Earth. So, why then? Does the fact you look to benefit from something not yours and I call you out on it make your blood boil?" She wasn't even here to seriously challenge his ideals, at this point, but she knew that was going to set him off. Big time.
"You've got quite the ego for being the world's biggest thief!" Tomino, now confident, tests Slayg by standing before him.
Slayg chuckled to himself from on high as Tomino revealed herself. She was trying to goad him, to get him to see some sort of hypocrisy in his views and insult him based upon her morality. The fool. He was Slayg. He was big. He was strong. He had been on this world before any of the modern cities and civilizations, and he would remain long after all were burned to ashes.
He flew down towards Tomino, opening his maw wide. But rather than run a strafing run, like he'd done before, he came to a sudden halt somewhere above the peak of Mount Five Element.
"Hahahaha! I am the world's biggest thief! I am Slayg! I take what I wish. I kill what I wish! And I wish to kill you! Now die you little, worthless SPECK!"
From deep within his belly came fire. Not plasma. Not ki-blast energy. Not mere heat. But fire in its most pure and elemental form. Fire that wished to spread and consume and burn. Fire that could not be extinguished, only allowed to run its course until it killed itself by eating all of its fuel in one grand blaze. This fire shot from Slayg's maw at the defiant doctor, spiraling and spreading around from the spot where she stood to consume the entire mountain. From base to tip. From out to in. Every creature that hid was immolated. Every tree that stood was blazing red. Every bit of plant and animal life on the mountain died in that moment, or seemed to.

Finally, the dragon would take proper notice of the doctor. He no longer denies the hypocrisy of his being by stating his proud eons of larceny to her and the world below. She needed no further words from him then, but the dragon liked to hear itself speak. Thunder pouts made the ground shake with how unsettling it became. Yet, the human stood firm.
"I DENY YOUR WILL, GREAT DRAGON!" She got ready to brace herself for anything, including a massive wave of flame hurdling its way toward her. If her destiny as to die in the fire, she would find a way to resist. While not fully utilized or tested against such large blasts, the pads did have a more defensive mechanism in them. Using the same expulsion ports the jets came from, Tomino held her hands forwards the project a blue bubble shield around her entire form. Laced with that plasmic energy that let her dish out heavy damage to the dragon.
The breath pierced and cut through the shield a good bit. The doctor found the heat and pure element only somewhat buffeted with her plasma. In its primordial form, it was perhaps just too strong to repel in the pad's current state. She winces as she stands in the fire, the heat and fire surrounding her and licking up her body in a short burst. Despite the painful experience, the doctor and her bubble shield were doing leagues better than the environment around her.
"And I DEFY THE LAW OF THIS UNIVERSE!" She shouted over her pain, bringing her hands out in an erratic tug to face outwards at her sides. Sending the plasmic barrier outwards to expand and shed off its shell. Throwing off the remains of the surrounding heat and flame in a circular area around her before she made off in a mad dash at the dragon.
"Let it be known! ONE-HUNDRED -" Still burning at the arms and head, the doctor ran up to the foot of the dragon and pointed her palms upwards. It was awe-inspiring how small she was, yet how impactful this next wave of energy would be. Large beads of plasmic blue surge forth, ready to blast up and engulf Slayg's body.
"- AND TEN PERCENT!" This energy flooded out of the pads, fueled by the flames left behind by Slayg. Less of a cone at this point from their point of view and more an explosion meaning to engulf the great dragon. Wanting to leave nothing but ancient dust and dragon bone to collect from his ancient corpse. It would make for good research outside these tests.
She deserved it after putting herself in the ringer like this. Tomino's Pads activate a 43MP Transformation Boost, creeping their PL into 138,000!
Tomino will activate the Defensive half of Locked & Loaded (0KP 30% Free | 41,400) against Slayg's Dragon's Breath (100,000)! This knocks it down a wide margin, making Tomino take the remaining 58,600 (42%)! She takes the Bleed!
Tomino will retaliate with a 21 MP BoostedHi-Volt Shatter: 100% Power (6KP 100110% | 151,800) heading @ Slayg!
For a few, brief moments, Slayg felt exhaltation. His fire was stronger than the machine's protective field. For once since awakening, he was going to win! The whole mountain was up in flames, rock was melting, wood had burned to nothing, everything alive was GONE!
And then, somehow, standing in the middle of a circle of heated, but not melted, rock, Doctor Nahn stood. Singed. Hurting. But alive.
"What? NO! NO! YOU SHOULD BE DEAD!"
What was this? How did she survive? How was the witch not as dead as the mountain? He had to flee. He had to fly away and put as much distance between him and this sorceress as was possible. If he could get away from the mountain, back to the West, he could maybe lay low and find another source of power to siphon. More Blood Rubies? More gems of other sorts? Yes, yes! If he could just-
Everything burned blue at that moment. All around him. Front to back, he was engulfed by the seemingly magical blue fire. At first, he felt nothing. His natural resistance to heat protected him from the energy of the plasma that engulfed his titanic form. But then his resistance gave way, and he was burned from the tip of his snout to the end of his flanged tail.
If the previous scream shook the heavens, this one threatened to tear them apart.
Slayg fell down as his wings failed him, slamming into the mountain hard enough to make the whole thing crack and shake. His head landed somewhat close to Doctor Nahn, but it did not hit her directly. Instead, it slammed into the rock and dirt near her and sent up a great wind and cloud of dust that blocked all sight for a full minute. Once the cloud of debris settled, however, there was Slayg. His mane singed and burned away. His ears blackened. His eyes closed. Several teeth were missing. And his forked tongue was sticking out at an odd angle.
Was he, perhaps, dead?

The large cone of blue plasma had parted the seas of the dragon's original primordial flame, but it had not stopped clinging to her body. Even with a barrier, she could feel the heat burning at her clothing and face. And since she wasn't nearly as exhausted as the pads themselves, she could use the small lull in the action to quickly undo her trench coat and toss it away. It being the largest flammable good on her, it took most of these flames with it.
"Tch. A flaw I will remedy..." Stopping life force energy was not the same as stopping primordial powers like heat, and she doubted raw electricity would treat her nicely too if it got through the barrier. The good doctor mumbled to herself before having her thoughts interrupted by the screams can felling of the dragon. The mountain croaked and gave way to a few small rockslides as Slayg cried out and took a dive. Forcing Nahn to continue being light on her feet without the immediate help of her two revolutionary weapons.
She'd make evasive moves, as well as any fit nimble human, could further down the mountain, both to avoid some of the lasting effects of his impact AND to catch up to his body. Tomino would have to get a proper scan going to see if he was alive or not. It could be arranged well enough, even at range.
"Oh how the mighty fall." The blue cores of the palm pads began to glow in their usual recharge state. Forced the doctor to keep her distance a few meters away out of safety. But if he truly was finished then and there, she would maybe be able to gain some secret from his body. She somehow doubted a dragon could be felled so easily, but she wouldn't complain about either alive or dead being a factor here right now.
She could work with either. Tomino sheds the flames and goes checking on the dargon.
For a moment, Slayg was completely and utterly still. Nothing moved or breathed on the mountain, aside from Doctor Nahn and the ashes blown up by the wind. The mountain would most likely recover, but the creatures that lived upon it were gone, including a few unique species. The structure of it had been damaged by the dragon's digging. The rivers had boiled away, the snow was gone, and the people that lived on the mountain were as dead as the animals and plants. And the people nearby? Their homes were broken and damaged, and their livelihoods were ruined by the backwash of the flames.
And then Slayg's eye opened mere meters away from Tomino, and stared at her with a hate that rivaled his own breath in its brilliance and fury. Then, his whole body moved faster than any mortal eye could follow, and his tail swiped through the air in the direction of Tomino. Aiming to crush her against the rocks. And while it did, a blood-red ruby, previously attached to a medallion, now bound by gold and fire to Slayg's skin, glowed a brilliant color.

The death reaped this high up five elements would surely come back in time. There was hardly anyone ballzy enough to live near the more volatile peaks. The few that did? Unfortunate consequences of standing up to the powerful. Gods will not leave the world alone without taking a part of it with them after all. As defiant as they are petty, they will sooner the world burn than have their toxic influence removed or even just reduced.
Slayg persisted in this way. Tomino watched as the creature stirred but by that glare in their eyes, and then rushed forth at a blinding pace. Fueled by fury. Rather than avoid the incoming attack though, the volt pads's pulsing blue glows brightly in her hands. The good doctor stretched them out to catch the incoming tail with them and the newly created blue barrier. Much like before, but unlike the time flames overtook it, this plasmic barrier was able to stop a physical force Dissipating both itself and the momentum of Slayg on its way in on her.
"I'll give you one more chance, DRAGON! Submit to me, or return to the past where you belong!" She shouted past him, letting the plasma linger on his body before another cone of energy rips from her hands. Aiming to engulf his tail in that now very familiar energy her devices produced. She didn't understand what he meant by being small again, but alive or dead, he would prove interesting in use. She doubts his ego will allow it, so preemptively showing her prowess over him time and again would be the only way to show him she meant business. Tomino uses Absorber Module (0KP 30% Optional Trait| 34,500) against Slayg's Thunderbolt Tail (37,500). It loses but fizzles the offensive technique.
Tomino launches the offensive half of Locked & Loaded (0KP 30% Core Trait | 34,500) heading @ Slayg! Intent to Wound.
Slayg was no longer acting as a rational, thinking being. He was mentioning times that Tomino could never have been aware of, seeing red and blue. His world was pain and suffering in a way that it had not been since his early days when he had been young and soft and small. When he had been taken by the Bear Clan...
Thus, rather than do the smart thing, Slayg whipped his tail at Tomino, trying to slap aside her machine's strange blue fire that somehow burned his hide when he touched it. As he did, all sorts of instincts and chemicals and bits of magic welled up from within him, giving him a burst of extra strength to try and save his own life from... the thing in front of him.

He chomped at her with his jaws, to try and catch her in his snaggle teeth, he sent his tail flying with less and less strength. Anything. Anything his tiring, broken body could throw her way to hurt her and drive her away. And then? Right when he thought he was going to collapse, Slayg held his wings out as wide as he could stretch them, then he extended his neck as far as it could go, before stomping the ground hard enough to make it shake. Then he took a deep breath, expanding his belly a bit... Then, Slayg roared. He did not shout. He did not scream. He roared with such volume that any lesser being's ears would have exploded from the noise, bleeding as they did. A show of strength and energy he did not have. An attempt to fool or scare a person that was far more cunning than the animals that technique was designed to fool.

Of course, the dragon wasn't going down so easily. Pride in such beings were too strong. She doubted even giving him a beneficial deal would make him capitulate anything on Tominos end. He wanted to live free to terrorize and take as he saw fit.
Shame she was doing this to challenge these sorts.
In a last ditch attempt, the massive dragon pulled itself up and started flailing about mad. Throwing any weight it could toward Tomino. The sheer desperation throws off the small blast cone with ease and sls into the doctor multiple times.
"They never go down easy..." She had to remind herself between ducking past a tail, flung rock, and sidestepping the dangerous claws it tried coming at her with. She tried very hard to keep herself upright, but these blows did knock some sparks off her from the pads compensating her natural body.
A cheeky chomp manages to catch her off guard. The small doctor suddenly facing off against sharp teeth and dangerously hot huffing. A few of these would scrap along her arm and draw some blood before she caught them. Gritting her teeth.
"That's... Enough! Go to sleep, Slayg!" Her arms hurt to keep the jaw pried apart, so she'd only get one shot to do this. One fluid motion to pull one of the hands free and aim the volt pad palm down into the beast's gullet. Not even giving a warning by pouring one of those burning plasma cones straight down. With any luck it would be enough to subdue him. Maybe even make him cough up smoke like a cartoon gag. Most importantly, let her go though. Tomino uses Hi-Volt Shatter: 75% Power (4KP 70% | 80,500) @ Slayg! Intent to wound.
Once Slayg had his jaws firmly around Tomino, he refused to let go. He shook her around like a ragdoll, whipping his head this way and that while chomping and growling. If he could fully close his jaws, perhaps he could fling the little witch away. Or maybe even chew her up into little pieces and swallow her, ending the threat she posed forever. Yes. Yes. YES! He would devour her and savor the taste of her blood and flesh and the unique taste of her machine. This would-
His train of thought, scattered as it was, was completely derailed by the blast of plasma that went down his throat. It was too close to his body, he couldn't dodge. His energy was depleted. And it was a very, VERY weak spot on his body. He did not, however, cough out smoke and soot from his maw when his belly was blasted. Instead, he screamed yet again, opening his jaws wide enough that Tomino was easily able to escape his teeth. Then Slayg vomited up all of the food he had been eating for the last few days, all of the meat and metal ore and minerals and whatnot, along with some blood from his recently blasted gullet.
As a last ditch effort, Slayg attempted to send a spout of fire Tomino's way...
But when he did, Slayg felt a raw burning sensation travelling up from the place where fire was stored in his belly, all the way up to his mouth. He only managed a pitiful spit of light fire, which was followed immediately by more blood.
Blessedly, this was the point where he lost consciousness, giving him reprieve from all the pain he suffered. Slayg shrank as he fell, returning to the size he'd been at the start of the battle, which was still large enough to leave a great crater in the rock. There he lay, still and unmoving... bleeding... burned... but breathing. Barely.

Silly dragon. The doctor doubted she tasted good, prying her forward palm away and quickly jumping on out of the maw of the old dragon while she had the chance. Getting a good dozen meters away from the thing before it started losing the contents of its stomach. His attention was on the pain and little else, giving Tomino the breathing room to watch him casually while picking at her own wounds.
Her hands would need a good bit to heal off superficial burns. The pads themselves were a little beat up but held together very nicely. Her coat, wherever that was, took the brunt of it honestly. Even the worst of it, those long scratches from the gnashing teeth along her arms, drew only tiny amounts of blood. Slayg would not get his dying wish today unless he was packing some kind of venom. The doctor seemed to figure out it was already over before he lost strength, standing still and watching him try one last breath attack on her.
It fizzled, and he slumped over. He was coughing up blood and shrinking back to his original size. Meanwhile, the lowly earthling stood tall. Sighing some breaths of relief as the battle was actually over this time around. She wouldn't leave empty-handed though... No. The good doctor stomped over to the unconscious mass of scale and muscle and looked it over for a moment. Pressing the back of her hand against it to quickly measure slow breathing from it.
