Finding the Drive (open)

He expected an explosion of some sort, some sort of upward blast of sand that would easily put distance between him and Jackie, but instead of a bang there was a fizzle, and as he landed and jumped back from the woman, changing his hand back to normal, he looked at what seemed to be... some sort... of bubble of energy of some sort. He had a technique similar to it, one that would block in coming damage so he supposed that she blocked his blast with that. He had planned on following up the blast with another rush, to try to get after her while she recovered, but instead now he had to think of something else to do... or she would change how things went. 

Kane would nod when she said that thinking outside of the box would help him through this, and he wondered what else he could do to gain more praise. He wasn't ever really... trained in how to fight and their sparring lessons was really starting to hammer in how different their strengths where because of it. Perhaps he'd need to study up in basic fighting styles in order to really get a hand up in fights in the future. "I've got to try a little harder to really get you off guard, don't I?" He asked, knowing the answer but all the same. 

Then she somehow grabbed the bubble and pulled it into her arm and he just blinked at what happened. "Did you just... store the energy from that in your arm?" Kane would ask, taking a tentative step back and lifting his arms a little. Most of his abilities revolved around his transformations, so whatever she was doing, he was wondering just how it would go. 

When she dashed forward, Kane focused on her, her energized arm, and his mind began to race with all possible ways he could react to the incoming attack that would reduce the over-all amount of impact. As she approached Kane started to back pedal, his tail wrapping around the front and moving up to his chest as his right and left arm rose up in front of him to block. His left arm, armored, was in front, with his right arm supporting it and his tail in the back supporting his arms, and he lifted them to block his face as her fist struck. 

It sent him flying, no doubt, and he used the force of the impact to get airborne and allow it to push him back before he came to a stop in the air, shaking his arms rapidly in order to help try and stop the pain. "Ok.. ok... ow... really... just... ow." He managed to get out, glad he was able to block the brunt of the attack but honestly in pain from it. "Ow." Kane added, staying in the air for now.

Kane looked at her when she spoke about not expecting him to tank the attack. "I... I mean I didn't think I'd be able to dodge it too well, or if I did try to dodge you might have gone for a follow up attack." He said, looking at her as she rose into the air as well. "I figured in this case, the best course of action was to get knocked away and recover from there." Kane said, thinking about other possibilities. "That and I didn't know if you could continue attacking with that, so getting far away was best."

She seemed to ignore the entire coughing fit she had, moving on to the next part of this interaction, so Kane decided to ignore it as well... or at least act like he was ignoring it, but honestly he was getting a little worried that she was pushing herself too hard at this point to help him and he felt a little bad. Trying to put the thought down for the moment, Kane changed his arm into the Blaster Arm again and held it in front of him, running his other hand along it. 

"I do have a stronger version of the blast I used, more 'omph' in it than the one I've been using out here. Aside from that, I'm still trying to figure out what I can do, what limits my transformations can and can't do." He said, thinking about it too before looking up to Jackie. "Actually, I am thinking that my body is recording attacks it witnesses and sees, and is trying to incorporate some of them into attacks for me to use, just need to unlock them."

"Ok stop, you doing alright? That didn't... that didn't sound to great back there." Kane finally asked, his worry over-taking him for a moment. Demon or Machine, he wasn't heartless.

Ahhhh what was wrong with her and why was she suddenly just... whatever this was? Ahhh. The sudden stoppage of her voice in his head, the coughing fit, her lowering to the ground, it all sent shivers through Kane's spine as he worried about this woman who had been so nice as to try and help him out with things. He quickly landed not too far and approached cautiously, hands out in a supportive manner, wanting to do something to help her out. He had his fair share of injuries in the past when he was a demon, but he also healed pretty quickly from them, one thing he was actually thankful for. However, for this person, he wasn't even sure of their race, would a cough like this be fatal? Probably not but maybe it would and Kane had zero way of knowing. 

At least she seemed to think it was nothing, even if it worried the hell out of him. When she asked for a second, stating she was fine, Kane lowered his hands a little and took a step back, hoping that somehow giving her more space would help. "Ah.. yeah.. no rush. Take all the time you need if it'll... you know.. help you." He said, trying to be supportive.

When she took the deep breathes, Kane took one as well, putting a hand on his chest and letting out a relieved sigh as she seemed to have somewhat recovered enough. "You've been helping a lot, it's just... don't push yourself if you're still recovering? I mean... like... I appreciate everything but I'd prefer it if you didn't make your condition worse for my sake?" Kane said, slightly pleading. 

"I'd be ok with some fundamentals as long as it doesn't cause... whatever that was to happen again." Seriously, he needed that to not happen again else he'd really be at a loss for what to do. Last person who helped him so much turned him into an android and then died before he could thank them so he'd rather no one else died for him.

Kane thought about what she said, calming his senses, but when he tried to do that, well, a large collection of digital noise kept going, information about his own body, about the terrain around him, about her height, and the height of things around him, the lack of internet in the desert. He grabbed his head with a hand after a few moments and shook it, trying to clear out the noise for a bit of peace and looking over at Jackie again with a slightly sly smile. "Either... I can't calm my senses... or I don't quite... have that ability yet to clear my senses..." He said, rubbing his eyes a little and tapping the side of his head. 

When she cleared and rubbed her throat, he had a slightly ping of worry, but she moved past it quick enough and reassured him that it wouldn't tire her, so he let out a sigh and nodded. "But maybe that's the issue... I've got too much going on uncontrolled... mind is too full with data that is pointless and information that doesn't help me at this point in time." Kane would add, shaking his head and grumbling. 

But how, how could he quiet the robotic mind of his that wouldn't just shut him down like that? He put both hands to his head and focused, closing his eyes and trying to just, clear his mind of everything, to clear his mind of all the noise. "This... is my mind... this... is my body..." He grunted, his body somewhat sparking with purple energy. The lines along his body began to glow brighter, as with the crystal in the center of his chest. 

Violet energy began to arc off him even larger than before, electricity hitting and moving across the sand, his eyes and lines on his body glowing even brighter and intense, and then with a loud crack, Kane's body went dark and his eyes went black. A bit of smoke rose from his body and he swayed in place a little bit before he started falling forward, only for his leg to shoot out in front of him and stopping him from falling forward. His eyes returned to their usual glow and he shook his head, blinking a few times as he rubbed the side of his head. 

"Um... well... I am not super sure what happened but... ow." He joked, though his body did feel hotter than before. With another shake of his head, Kane looked around somewhat and grinned, before looking at Jackie. "Ha! All the noise, it's gone! But if I want to bring something up, I just need to think about it!" It was a small victory, but if he was able to control his body like this, then there was a chance he could do even more with some focus. 

It was like he had too many tabs that were playing music in his head, but he had force closed them all and had the tutorial screen up. "I mean... I have no idea if it's perfect or if I'll have to do this again later, but at the moment I feel more in control than I have in a while!" Kane announced, feeling pretty pumped up for the moment. Though he still couldn't sense any energy. 

"I don't think I can sense energy... but I have heard about things called scouters, I think I should check out those instead." He said, rubbing the back of his head and feeling a little bad he wouldn't be able to do the energy sense thing like Jackie was trying to teach him.

Kane wondered what she meant by if he had to do it again, and a slightly worried look flashed over his face. "I... I mean I should be ok if it happens, but I don't think that it'll be something I will need to worry about." Kane said, a slight shrug and look of confusion on his face. That said, if he did have to do it again, would he be able too? Would it be something he'd have to worry about? Maybe it wouldn't do him any good to dwell on it.

"I mean... I am tech now, I gotta rely on what I can. Maybe if I am able to learn how a scouter works, I can then learn how to use it by relying on myself afterward. But to start, I think a tool to rely on isn't too bad." He said, rubbing his head with a slight bit of bashfulness. He wanted to learn but some things just didn't quite click with him. 

While he couldn't sense energy, he didn't need to sense anything from just the sheer difference in appearance that she blasted. Kane blinked and could feel his skin prickle a little bit, as if it was reacting to all the energy she was pushing off. When she spoke about suppression, something sort of clicked in his mind and he blinked again. "Wait, this is you normally? It's... it's incredible... I... suppression?" He said, raising a hand up slightly to block the sand, before thinking some. 

"Hiding your own energy, or masking it some sort... it would be helpful for sure..." Kane added, musing to himself.

Things seemed to even out, with Jackie either turning down her power or the sudden power up had evened out. Either way, it did leave a bit of an impact on Kane and he waited to hear what she would have to say about it, eager to learn more. She spoke about how one could hide, blend in, and even manage their strength by doing what she was talking about, suppression, and he nodded. When she spoke about using his strength in moderation, Kane had to nod a little bit. Aside from certain targets, Kane wasn't planning on going around killing people for no reason, let alone having no control of his power. 

"That makes a lot of sense... and I don't plan to go around hurting or killing random people, and if I could keep my strength from killing a normal person, thug or not, I am more than willing to learn." Kane said, clenching his fists and lookin at Jackie with a bit of determination. He was more than willing to fight to defend himself, fight to protect his allies, and to take out certain villainous elements that Derry sent him out to take care of, but aside from that, he wanted to relax. 

When she instructed him to focus like before, to try and lower his power, Kane nodded and took a deep breath, focusing on his body and it's systems, and on how to restrict and lower his power. He took deep breaths and could feel his body shimmering, as if it was trying to follow his instructions but struggling on how to suppress his power without actually losing his power. It would take a few moments before his body fully shimmered and his energy dropped a little, lowering a few levels before it rose back to normal. 

Kane panted a little bit and bent over a little, taking in deep breaths. "Ok... ok... I think... I have an idea on how to do it... but I need a bit more practice before I can do it without issue... but the core of the technique is there." Kane said, nodding to Jackie.
