Martial Arts 101 [Fend, Shoga]

"You wanted me to take this seriously."

The reply slipped out of Terryn's semi-conscious mouth, his tone oddly dejected and empty, almost as if nothing else existed to him at this moment besides their fight.

Terryn's eyes snapped to his arm momentarily, as he felt Fend's debilitating Ki sap away at the energy surrounding it. His gaze hardened; There was no easy way he was going to shake that off without expending atleast some energy.

He cautiously waited for Fend to make her move, thinking it'd be best to wait for a perfect opportunity. Shifting into a low stance, Terryn was ready to dodge as he saw Fend leap into the sky, only to be thrown into utter disarray as she covered the battlefield with white-hot webbing.

Terryn only barely managed to hop out of harm's way and land squarely between a gap in Fend's tunnel of webs. The boy's gaze hardened again, tongue clicking against the roof of his mouth. How many of these tricks did she have up her sleeve, anyway? Talk about unfair.

Fend quickly escaped to the top-most rope, that shit-eating glint in her eye enough of a sign that she was definitely taunting him. Terryn's glare tightened, before he glanced around, pondering his options.

...This was supposed to slow him down, was it not?

Terryn cracked a slight smile. That's funny.

Crouching low, Terryn suddenly dashed to the side, completely fading from view for a split second. Leaping towards a nearby treetop, Terryn graciously passed through a gap in Fend's webbing just big enough for him to pass through. He landed squarely on a thick branch before setting off into a run.

For the common eye, it'd almost appear as if Terryn was running on thin air, but no...Terryn was running along the white-hot webbing, using it to his own advantage! He made his way through Fend's elaborate trap with surprising grace and speed, traversing the tunnel of string like an elaborate tightrope maze. 

'All you've done is given me more stepping stones to work with...!'

Leaping off a thin strand of webbing, Terryn latched onto another string with his hand and used it to swing further upwards, aiming himself straight at Fend! The mild burns singed his hand, yet the sheer adrenaline of battle was enough for Terryn to grow numb to the sensation.

His hand reached out to grab Fend wherever he could, using her to slow his advance as he used the last bit of his momentum to transition into a quick, explosive kick aimed at her mask! It's power was lacking, yet atleast the blow managed to shake off that pesky Ki from his aura.

Unable to fly, Terryn uses Fend's trap against her to be able to reach her! He attacks with a weakened [Light]Quickfire to hit fend for 2,700 damage and shake off the Exhaust!

An absolutely thrilling wave of excitement overcame the Earthling as his fiery kick rocketed toward his to-be Mentor. A wide, nearly crazed smile stretched across Terryn's lips. As for a moment, if only for that one split-second, he really thought he could win.

He soon snapped back to reality.

Eyes snapped wide as the metallic 'CLANG!' rang through his ears, only then realizing his kick slammed into the blade hanging from Fend's hip all along. From behind that sharp edge, all Terryn could see was the fiery white light shining from Fend's eyes.

"...W-wha?"

It all happened in a flash; Far too quick for the Earthling to even begin comprehending. The edge of Fend's blade crashed into Terryn's chest with a blow unlike anything he had ever felt before; Almost as if the weight of an entire planet had been dropped onto him. A pained yelp later, and Terryn found himself barreling through the white-hot webbing that clung to him like melted glue.

The air hissed and whistled before a resounding crash sounded through the entirety of Korin Forest.

From the rubble and dust, Terryn's hand slowly rose itself from the crater he found himself in, clutching the dirt with desperate grit.

"Haah! Haah...! Huff...!"

Expression filled with despair, Terryn's widened eyes gazed upward toward Fend. The whimsical fighter gave off an air that was beyond menacing, and honestly more terrifying than anything Terryn had faced before. Fear clutched his heart; He could run, surrender...Simply give up. But, no. He simply got up, and he'd continue to do so.

...She wanted him to survive?

The mere utterance of that word caused Terryn's deepest reserves of power to infuse him with one last 'oomph', for good measure. So be it.

With a fierce warcry, Terryn stomped on the forest grounds, springing into his fighting stance one last time.

"COME ON!!"

...Perhaps he was taking this a bit too seriously.

The sheer danger that Terryn perceived in his surroundings caused his mind to calm significantly; It was something that came to him amidst this new swarm of energy that seemingly came out of nowhere. Almost as if his very life depended on these next moments; If he couldn't keep up, he'd die.

His rational brain was trying to tell him Fend would never outright kill him, however...His rational brain was far from the thing controlling him at this moment. He was going to see this fight to the end. Whatever the cost.

Terryn instinctively tucked in his fist the moment Fend so much as moved the slightest of muscles, hoping that he could 'catch' her before she outsped him. The Earthling awaited the moment she'd fade from sight, and then...!

'There!'

...But even that couldn't reach Fend.

Simply too fast, too powerful, Terryn had no choice but to retract his attack at the last possible second. The blunt side of Fend's blade crashed against his raised arm with the weight of an entire mountain, and a resounding 'KKKRT' echoed through the clearing. 

Terryn's arm fell limply to his side as he sucked in a pained hiss, unable to do so much as tag Fend before she retreated on one of her wires. The Earthling's left arm, red swollen and bruised, was completely unusable.

"S-something big, huh...!?" Terryn repeated, gazing up at Fend with the most desperate of expressions. Even through all of that agonizing pain, Terryn managed to crack the lightest of grins. There was one thing he had left...Something that didn't require his arms.

"...Just one."

Terryn crouched low. Lower, lower, until he resembled an athlete about to take off into a sprint. The fledgling fighter sucked in a large breath, and concentrated.

He hadn't used this technique since his battle with Sesame...The very thing that spurred him to seek Fend out. Terryn was going to need a while to collect his energy.

Terryn wasn't even sure how 'okay' he was. Truth be told, every nerve in his body was screaming with a mixture of fatigue and pain, practically begging the Earthling to stop before it'd give out. Everything felt numb, though; All Terryn truly felt was the blood rushing through his head and the overwhelming sense of focus. A true adrenaline rush.

The Earthling couldn't help but smile as Fend put the pieces together; Truth be told, it wasn't a hard puzzle to solve, but Terryn figured someone of Fend's caliber would be familiar with attacks like this one.

"You got that right." He spoke softly through his concentrated breathing.

Sucking in another huge breath, Terryn tried to align his energies as best he could. Having no proper training when it came to his Ki made it a difficult struggle, one that often ended in him hurting himself moreso than the other person.

"Ffffffhoooo...!"

Almost as if something 'clicked' deep within the boy, a fiery aura blazed to life around him. The heat tore at the ground beneath him, as well as lightly singing his own skin due to how uncontrolled it was.

Terryn struggled to control the immense amount of power raging through that fragile body of his, and if matters weren't bad enough, it seemed Fend wasn't going to take Terryn's ace-in-the-hole lying down.

Realizing Fend aimed to take out his legs, Terryn momentarily cut his concentration short and leapt backwards, leaning forward with a single raised arm to take the brunt of Fend's knife volley. The white-hot daggers singed his skin as they bore through him, striking his forearm and shoulder.

Terryn let out a pained, shrill yell as he fell down to the ground again, breathing harshly through the pain as he forced his palm onto the ground. He didn't bother to retract the knives, knowing it'd only lead to more blood loss.

'JUST A BIT MORE..!!'

"HAAAAAAAAAA!!-"

Terryn screamed the pain away as more adrenaline began pumping through his veins. The fiery aura around him grew, amplifying in size as it roared, scorching the very grass beneath him into ash and soot.

This was his last chance to prove himself.

What had pushed him to go this far?

His body was battered and beaten, on the brink of collapsing. He was putting everything into this final attack; Risking his very life on a sparring match. Was it stubbornness? An illogical need to prove himself? Perhaps he'd simply gone insane.

Terryn hadn't the time nor the energy to think. His fiery, nearly suicidal energy was met by Fend's callous, cold and silent aura. The two stood apart from eachother as polar opposites, and in a way, the exact same.

...Was this what was needed to defend the Planet?

He felt his energy go past the breaking point, like the last droplet of water to cause the bucket to overflow. It was in that moment that Terryn knew... It was now or never.

"HAAAAAAAH!!!"

Terryn took off in a flash, his body distorted from the sheer friction of his speed as he launched himself toward Fend. The very ground around him burned viciously as he crashed forth like a comet, bringing his leg out to strike directly against the person he'd hope to become his very mentor.

A cataclysmic, fiery echo raged throughout the entirety of Korin's Forest, almost as if an earthquake itself was ravaging the land.

The Blaze Drive.

It was a technique that harnessed Terryn's very life essence. By focusing all of the energy welling inside his body into a single point, the sheer pressure of it's force became too much for the vessel to handle, like a dying sun imploding in on itself. This caused Terryn's energy to explode outward with catastrophic results.

The shockwave echoed out for miles, shaking the forest to it's very core...

With permission of both parties, Terryn finish his Preparation Charging prematurely. He amplifies the Blaze Drive by using Crane-School Secrets for an additional +20%, topping it off at a massive 210% (56,700) Damage! 

Terryn takes 42% Recoil Damage, causing him to just barely survive.

Terryn had thrown his everything into the Blaze Drive; His very life essence, even. One would think he'd be certain it would bring an end to his battle with Fend, but no...The Earthling hadn't the slightest ounce of trust in his attack.

...And yet, it landed.

The crack of her mask, revealing blood-streaked hair was all Terryn needed to see- needed to know,

He had finally reached Fend.

In the wake of the dramatic silence following the massive, explosive collission, Terryn began to come to a certain conclusion. The conclusion that, while he had managed to hit Fend, he had far from won the battle. Following Fend's comment, Terryn gazed up toward the sky.

"...Oh."

Certain, imminent death.

Terryn was certain that he saw his life flash before his very eyes- or maybe it was just the blinding brightness of the roaring star headed toward him. Whatever it was, Terryn couldn't help but laugh out a hollow, defeated laugh as he stared upwards.

...

...And then it disappeared.

With a simple wave of her hand, Fend managed to harmlessly diffuse her cataclysmic energy, allowing it to sink in itself and dissipate without the littlest amount of danger. Terryn was left standing in silent shock and awe, mouth hanging agape as he blinked rapidly.

"I...What?" Terryn wasn't sure what to say at that moment, let alone what to think. He had passed Fend's test, and to that he felt nothing but an excited glee. Well...He would've felt excited, had he actually had the energy to do so.

"Hahahaha...."

Terryn laughed softly, for no particular reason other than confused delusion. The adrenaline was finally starting to wear out, and the Earthling dropped to his knees, weak and defeated. The pain was agonizing, and the entire world seemed like a vague blur to Terryn.

"...I'm fine." Terryn said to Fend, a woozy smile stuck on his face. Terryn was anything but fine. Breathing in, Terryn began to sway more and more. He sure felt sleepy all of a sudden...

"Hey F-fend? I uh...I feel a bit..."

Aaaand down he went. Like a sack of potatoes, the Earthling landed on the ground beneath him with a dull thud. His expression seemed oddly calm and peaceful, despite the terrible injuries he had sustained. The exhaustion, pain, everything...It had simply become too much for Terryn.

The flame was snuffed out.

Terryn passes out due to exhaustion, ready to take a nice little nap.
