Detour (Open)

The large striped feline almost halted in his flight as he gave Rensou an odd look, bushy eyebrows bunching together as he parroted the words back to him. "Saiba... Beast? Never heard of 'em," he seemed like he was ruminating on something before finally voicing it out; cautious and yet too curious to stop himself.

"You're not—er, really from around here, are you?" It was clear that by "around here" Chaznut meant "from earth". Ever since he heard about the Budokai Tournament and saw through the televisions dotting most places in West City's Shops (and one huge one in the center of the city) the myriad of different fighters it called from seemingly all the corners of the world, Chaznut had his eyes opened that he was a very small fish in a very, very, VERY big sea out there.

He cleared his throat with a rumble, getting back to the matter at hand, no need for this to be on their heads when they were about to face the threat ahead. Perhaps if he was still curious, or if Rensou wanted to divulge his origins he'd ask more about it.

"Right. Anyways, not much farther now. We've already passed a few of their deeds left to rot on the hot sands." Indeed, as they flew they passed through a few ruined carts and vehicles that seemed to have been looted for every scrap and bolt they could get, nothing wasted as everything was profitable for the right person.

Soon enough they'd reach the location he had described not too long ago, the Zoanthrope slowing down as he descended down to a mesa overlooking thier quarry from a safe distance. "There they are. Like ants crawling on the ground looking for scraps." He growled as his muscles tensed, clearly ready to jump in at any moment and bring down every last one of them.

"So, full disclosure. I'm not sure if Sakana can sense energy or not. He couldn't never sense mine since I'm a 'Ghost' in a way, but yours I can feel plain as day. So he might sense it too," he sighed through his nose yet a smirk still tugged at the corner of his lips.

"Oh well, better hit them fast and hard before they can group up," he eyed his companion, shifting in place with barely restrained energy, tail flickering faster and faster behind him. "You ready, partner?"

Chaznut didn't hesitate when Rensou sprung in like a bullet, quickly following right behind him as he took out the second scout with a well-aimed punch against his solar plexus, his large furred fist easily caving in and bringing in a quick death.

He left the body where it dropped and quickly shifted gears, jumping down so hard it caused a small earthquake and sonic-boom to reverberate through the whole camp, startling the goons into action as the alarm was blared, but it was already too late to prepare for what was coming. Like a hurricane, Chaznut demolished anyone that stood in his way; senses on a razor-wire edge trying to find Sakana's exact location among the insects crawling across this camp.

It was difficult, what with dealing with the small fries that were quickly dogpiling on him, yet their efforts were merely mosquito bites; annoying yet bearable but it was quickly starting to become too obnoxious to deal with. With a quick swell of energy, he scattered them away from him, their bodies crashing against rock and buildings made out of wood with a thunderous crash.

None of them stood back up, either knocked unconscious, dead on impact, or too hurt to do much but groan feebly and lay there.

"SAKANA! Show yourself you coward!" Chaznut's roar echoed through the whole camp, bringing a momentary stillness yet it was broken quickly as those that were fighting Rensou redoubled their efforts, even bringing out the "big guns" with their weapons; advanced technological blasters that they somehow managed to scrounge from somewhere and normal weapons like swords and daggers.

His ears twitched as he heard clapping coming from up above on a mesa acting as some sort of mezzanine in the center of the camp, and looking down at them all like he was some sort of nobility was Sakana. "Bravo, Chaznut. Bravo~ You've managed to take out the trash, you must be proud of yourself. But what's this? Did you bring a child with you? My my, you must be really desperate to take me down~"

That low-grating, smug tone irked Chaznut something fierce as he glared up at their quarry, his fists clenching so hard his claws punctured the skin and drew small beads of blood.

"Enough. You're going down, Sakana." His hackles were raised as his muscles tensed up, getting a good grip on the ground to leap at Sakana who did nothing but remain there with that smug smirk only making his face seem all the more punchable. Chaznut answered the call with a loud growl and a powerful jump, easily shortening the distance between them in seconds, but Sakana just as easily dodged his punch by stepping to the side, that smirk still firmly remaining in place.

"Olé!" With a roar of annoyance, Chaznut turned around and began to send a wild barrage of punches at the other tiger, who blocked those he couldn't dodge and traded blows just as fast against his enemy. With each blow Chaznut grunted in discomfort, feeling the force behind them course through his body as they piled up little by little, yet with an unyielding determination, Chaznut refused to back down until one blow he didn't block pushed him back against a rock formation with a loud crash.

"Heh, pathetic. Is this the best that the 'Death-Seeker' of Korin Forest can do?" Shaking his head in disappointment, the criminal tiger set his sight upon Rensou next. "Perhaps you'll offer a better challenge than him?" Without giving the boy much chance to get ready, he was quickly upon him with the aim of bringing him down swiftly with a barrage of blows.

Chaznut groaned, laying upright inside the indentation he left in the mesa with his own body, slowly shaking the cobwebs from his head as he worked himself out of his tomb, hearing Sakana beginning to fight against Rensou and wanting to assist him quickly.

Chaz groaned in reply as he extracted himself from the Chaznut-sized imprint left behind on the mesa, with dust and granite crumbling around him and nearly forcing him into a sneezing fit. "Y-yeah. We should probably team up." Right on cue, their foe sprung at them, quite intent on taking both on at the same time, though Sakana and Chaznut stopped dead at how Rensou tried something, probably to use some sort of energy wave attack only for nothing to happen.

Chaznut felt a large bead of sweat slide down the side of his face, which got bigger as Sakana took the small reprieve to laugh himself silly, the corner of his eyes wet with unshed tears of mirth as he pointed up at Rensou. "Bwahaha! Where the fuck did you find this walking disappointment, a thrift store?"

The large Tigerman was so done hearing this asshole's voice clawing at his nerves, and incensed at having his partner's worth brought into question; he didn't let this chance pass him by as he phased forward at speed, appearing beside Sakana with his right fist driven powerfully against his stomach, ending his laughter with a pathetic wheeze, like a balloon losing air.

"You talk too much," Chaznut hissed between clenched teeth, his momentary satisfaction at finally silencing the stupid cat costing him as two goons piled on him and drove him back from their leader, who took that moment to get his breath back again. "Why you little—" His payback was swift with a haymaker landing with a solid thwack against his face, followed by a roundhouse kick driving him back, but also taking his goons with him since stupidly they still hung on onto his large frame.

With Chaz momentarily down, Sakana turned his sight back on Rensou, his furred hands lightning up with energy, humming with a piercing ring to it. "Let me show you how it's done!" With a continuous cry, his hands punched forward many times, sending blast after blast of energy balls aimed at Rensou to bring him crashing down.

Momentarily stunned, Chaz took a moment to shake his head before growling, standing back up, swiping his bulky arm harshly in a whip-like manner, sending a strong current of wind to push back the goons that were attempting to dogpile on him again, and quickly tackled Sakana to the ground.

He used his larger frame and weight to pin him down and relentlessly attack him with punch after punch, though it was hard with how much he was trashing and fighting back, both tigers earning superficial wounds as a result.

This would hopefully give Rensou some breathing room to gather himself and jump back into the fray.

Sakana fought fiercely to get free from underneath Chaznut's grasp, and after giving him a quick punch to the throat he succeeded in knocking him off as Chaznut coughed and massaged his sore throat. Standing up, Sakana's face was blotched with scratch marks and bruises from Chaz's knuckles digging in deep, a big old shinner also already starting to bloom on his right eye. "You motherFUCKER!" With a roar of rage, he kicked Chaznut right in the gut, forcing him to vomit this unsightly gunk of mulch as he weakly tried to fend the enraged tiger off.

Thankfully Rensou took that moment to come in like a wrecking ball, his foot hitting Sakana right in the face and driving him off from Chaznut, finally giving him some breathing room as he began to get up slowly, his ears prickling forward as even through the ringing in his skull he heard Rensou's shout loud and clear.

Looking forward, he saw Sakana being restrained in a full nelson, the comparatively tiny yet strong body of Rensou keeping the struggling feline in place for him to make his counter attack.

Standing up straight, ignoring the aches in his body, the Zoanthrope's feet dug into the soil before lunging forward with a roar, his fist alight with energy as he delivered a punishing blow to Sakana's stomach once again, the bandit tiger coughing up specks of blood but still remaining awake, but it was quickly lights out when Chaznut followed that up with a cracking uppercut forcing his muzzle shut with a loud clack.

Sakana's body was now limp in Rensou's grasp, arms hanging limply and the only reason he was still standing was thanks to Rensou keeping him up. With a frown, Chaznut grabbed the tiger's chin and tilted his head up, seeing his blank white eyes yet his finger felt the pulse beating steadily, pumping blood through his body.

He was alive but completely knocked out.

Yet Chaznut didn't release his grip as he changed it to grasp the tiger's throat with his entire hand, narrowed eyes and gritted teeth showing a fearsome and terrifying visage to Rensou since he was up close and personal to see it, yet at the last moment Chaznut relented and stepped back with a disgusted scoff.

"A quick death's too good for him." He grunted as he spat a lob of bloody spit to the floor. "May he rot in whatever prison he lands in," he said, voice hoarse and deep like he had been smoking cigars for thirty years, nursing his aching throat soon after now that the fight was over.

"Piece of shit almost choked me with that punch..."

Chaznut scoffed at Rensou's assessment of his skills, hacking another glob of bloody spit to the side. "Thanks, but I could've done better—wasn't expecting the difference in strength compared to when we last met, even if I warned of it before." Was he getting weaker? How did someone like Sakana get stronger so quickly?

He'll figure that out later, for now, they had other stuff to worry about, like making sure any stragglers didn't manage to escape. Looking around he spotted many goons laying on the floor or embedded in the wooden shacks or rock; clearly in pain as they moaned feebly without being able to move. There were probably some casualties as well but Chaznut didn't pay those any mind.

You couldn't do anything for the dead after all, now they're someone's else problem to deal with.

Before he could think too much into the deep of the afterlife and what could be waiting on the other side, Rensou quickly dashed off inside the complex and Chaznut followed close behind with a cut-off curse. "Oh for the love of— Wait up you shrimp!" He quickly caught up to the monkey-tailed teen, strongly resisting the urge to swipe the back of his head in admonishment, he didn't curb his tongue however from giving him a small lashing.

"Don't just rush off like that, they could've booby-trapped this place to hell." It would be his rotten luck if they survived fighting Sakana and his lackeys, only to perish after triggering a bomb or something by mere accident. As they explored its depths, he made sure to keep his sense sharp and alert in the case an ambush laid in wait, but thankfully nothing jumped at them as they passed through the chambers build through the bedrock.

Finally, they stumbled upon what must've been Sakana's room, given how luxuriously furnished it was compared to the other rooms and the barracks they passed on the way over. Right at the back lay an archway leading further inside into what was probably Sakana's spoils.

Sure enough, once they stepped foot inside their eyes were assaulted with many kinds of stolen goods, from perishables to non-perishables, clothes, and all the way to weapons like guns and knives of many shapes and sizes and many others stuff.

But the pick of the litter was definitely the money; from jewelry to fat stacks of cash laid out with care to the side. "Jackpot," Chaznut said with a grunt as he hefted a still knocked out Sakana over his shoulder in a fireman carry, having dragged him with them all the way and used some ropes and shackles conveniently placed nearby to bind the fallen tiger's hands and legs together.

"Well, there doesn't seem to be any stragglers lying around, so we might as well head back to West City to get our reward." So saying he turned around and began to slowly walk away, in no rush to quickly get his due reward.

In fact, he seemed almost apathetic about being rewarded, like he didn't really care too much about the money and more about bringing down criminal scum like Sakana to justice as its own reward than monetary gain.

Chaz stopped walking, one foot raised in the air and everything making him look somewhat comical. With furrowed brows and the beginning of a scowl in place, he turned to address Rensou while putting Sakana none too gently down to the floor.

He didn't so much as weakly grumble at the manhandling.

"No, we cannot do that," Chaznut forbade with a firm, no-nonsense tone as he approached the teen and lay a heavy furred hand on his shoulder to stop him from trying to grab the stolen goods any longer. "Rensou. Listen to me. We CANNOT take advantage of this, doing so will make you no better than these scum." His hand was a firm warm pressure on the spiky-haired male's shoulder, the grasp almost becoming unbearable as his slowly growing anger and annoyance fed into it.

"We will already get a nice chunk of whatever they'll give us when we bring his striped ass to them; we don't need to overload our pockets with what we didn't rightfully earn, nor deserve." He was trying to keep his calm, his tone retaining that deep growly bass as he spoke to try and drive the point across to Rensou.

"We have to return these stolen goods to their rightful owners. It's the right thing to do."
