"This looks to be a good place..." It was an odd sight, what seemed to be an Alien child walking confidently off a transport ferry and onto the famous Battle Island. "There is always that Budd-ha-kai in the South, too..." Lost in thought the boy paid nary much attention at all to his surroundings, taking the bare minimum effort to weave around the pedestrians wandering about. As a part of Surtr's ultimate plan for the galaxy at large, he must first observe the strength and conviction of other species. Freige had always taught that one could not necessarily judge a group at large unless you had made the effort to learn about them first. And to be terribly blunt - Earthlings had been a disappointment so far. Aside from the handful of exceptional fighters and individuals, they seemed to be rather weak and idle en mass. Pleasure and colorful distractions formed the core of their culture, and while not necessarily bad - in fact Surtr had enjoyed the 'movie' he saw - the fact that such things were placed above the security of their species was irritating. There were some humans with no housing or food to sustain themselves and yet a constant blind eye is turned to such disparaged people at large.
"Hm." Stopping short of an entrance to one of the many arenas, it was now that Surtr realized he had no access to Earth money. His father could have provided, but Feran was a busy man and wasn't liable to drop everything in order to hand-deliver a supply drop directly to him. There was the emergency stipend of course, but as the name implied it was for emergencies. And as much as Surtr wished to observe some fights between actually dedicated Earthlings, such an event was far removed from emergencies. Perhaps he'd swim back to the mainland in order to save what little funding was left? The Arcosian's eyes drifted to an open booth, a suited man within pitching some kind of minor tournament through a plastic megaphone. A thought had occurred to Surtr, then. Participants typically didn't have to pay a fee and were only expected to take the brunt for injury recovery costs, and Surtr was rather confident that the chaff of humanity wouldn't be able to scratch him even in a suppressed form. "Pardon," Ambling over, the boy stood on the tips of his feet in order to properly see over the counter. "I would like to enter. And yes I am an adult, I am merely short."
Technically speaking it was a lie as Surtr was not yet 'of age' by Earthling year standards, but that wasn't necessary for them to know. Freige had told him to say as much to any overly curious individuals. Something about people being nosy when it came to 'unaccompanied' children. "There is no payment required to fight correct?" While initially put off by his small stature the human recovered quickly enough, explaining that this sponsored tournament would be a smaller affair taking place in one of the extra arena domes. There were rewards, rather minor, but still present. If Surtr could win some legitimately perhaps that'd even impress his father? Resourcefulness was an important quality for a potential future emperor to hold, after all.
