Gemus had thought long and hard about the choices he had made throughout his life that led him to the position he now found himself in. Marching confidently, hip adorned with his sword, his older series armour finely polished and maintained. Accompanied by his two sons, his eldest, matching his height but dwarfing him in how stocky he is, Sparge had the ideal body for a Saiyan, full of muscle but the instincts weren’t there. Meanwhile over his other shoulder was his youngest, Kohl was, on the other hand, a natural born fighter put into the body of a smaller man, he made it work with his agility.
Both of them outshone him, as their armour was newer and untouched by combat, whilst he had small bumps, dents and parts missing unintentionally, but he honoured his past and he hoped that his conversation would go just as planned and his children would be granted duty and responsibility, beyond what they could even understand, despite the long conversations and retellings of Gemus’ own time as the King’s right hand and shield.
He anticipated that the roles would fall naturally to them in time, but it was a hope that was untested. Much as they were, green as grass and fresher than apples straight off the tree, they were to be thrown in the deep end and the only thing that might give them a chance was the Old Guard’s recommendation.
“Stick to me like glue, you hear me, Kohl.” The Old Man said telepathically to be met with a sight and a hushed “Yes, Father.” from Kohl, “What about me?” muttered Sparge. “I trust you to keep yourself.” They marched to the front gates of the Palace and were allowed into the lobby, the doors causing a gasp from the building and a mutter from the inhabitants, some recognising Gemus, others merely unsure of the situation.
The elder Saiyan folded his arms behind his back and stood in the centre before he was approached and asked for his intention. “I am here to request an audience with King Taori. I Gemus Ironheart wish to pledge myself and my sons to his service.” The practised reply was perhaps louder than necessary, but it was intended to be heard and heard well.
