"Overqualified! Now how do you think that makes our employees feel to hear such a thing? This was a true adventure! A test of wit, strength, skill, and PATIENCE. A big, big test of patience. Now whats-" Caught up in prerequisite banter, Jinx hadn't even noticed Foki's spell ambling toward her, the spark making the Majin vanish mid-sentence. "-Next." She blinked, eyes darting around the poorly crafted hovel before settling on the short, dark-cloaked mage huddling in the corner. "Yo." He didn't seem to like her greeting all too much, immediately reaching for his staff and yelling something about expansive eggs.
Realizing what the foolish fool was about to do as implement was held high, Jinx dove forward just as the magic stick broke. Instead of blowing everything up like he had intended, the mage would bear witness to Jinx literally grabbing the explosion - the energy trapped in a web of magic - and eating it whole like a donut hole. The Majin's body puffed up like a balloon as the energy was released, a smoky belch escaping her lips. Truth be told, internalizing all that magical energy at once had nearly caused her to burst. Jinx could regenerate from being turned to wall paste, but the mage would've certainly gotten away.
Her legs wobbled, Jinx slowly ambling toward the Kashvar. "Ew. That was horrible. And it's all your fault!" Much like the first one she'd caught, Jinx took liberty in strangling the guy out with her stretchy limbs. Once he was neutralized, Jinx burst through the ceiling, the mini chamber collapsing behind her. "Tada!"
"(How? Cursed Creature. Stay out where your kind do not belong!)" Well, fear would be the first thing that crossed his mind when he met a creature that could just capture that spark of an eruption and eat it like candy. He held the snapped stick in disbelief, staring down at it before looking back to Jinx. There was a little cry and yell before the clearly superior being would get around him and choke him out. Up to that point, Jinx was careful to not cause collateral so the rest of the cavern would stay intact. Assuming she had the last culprit though, she'd just bust through the ground back down to the crowd now gathered here. Striker had to quickly scoot Foki away from the point of impact.
"Whoa, careful there Foki!" The old man was in the process of 'bubbling' the unconscious kashvar in light green bubbles. Floating carefully off the ground and following his movements as he was moving between each jsut before Jinx presented the last to the collection.
"Oh! That was very quick. There." He'd bap the man on the head once, also bubbling him up and lifting from her grasp, if she still held onto him. With that all done, the old man gripped the staff in both hands and sighed.
"I think that was all of them. Do you smell any more nasty magic, Jinx? Foki would tap the ground again, to be sure. Nothing else came for them though.
"Uh, whoops. Figured you'd be a good few meters to the right." Good thing Striker was the speediest Critter around. Ending their excursion with accidental injury to Foki because of his hired guards would've been hilariously embarrassing. "Ye! Sure was quick. I had expected something like an epic final boss or a master of magic but he just tried exploding everything by breaking his stick. A little anticlimactic for retelling purposes, but for now, I definitely ain't complaining!" The strange bubbled men were an odd sight, Jinx giggling. "Now they just look ridiculous. How do you plan on ferrying them out of the underground?"
Ah but Foki was right - they needed to make sure they had everyone. "Hm. Well the passive lingering stench is gonna cling to the land here for a while. Dark magic soaks into things like cigarette smoke and wallpaper. Nasty. The concentration and sharpness has dropped dramatically, though. I'm pretty confident that we got everyone - or at least everyone that mattered." If a single rat had scurried away as a novice dark mage, they wouldn't get far in the dangerous Aster alone with their novice skills. A bit grim, but that was the price for evading the people purposefully not killing any of your comrades. "So, what's next?"
If it was just some bloke that was trying to break his magic and blow up in front of Jinx, Foki would grunt and look back at the five they had taken in unconscious form. He'd stroke his chin a moment before starting back towards the exit hole. Stopping just short of it and turning back to his help for an explanation.
"Then perhaps we just caught a part of the whole. At their level they'd need a whole cult and probably a big bad leader. I fear there won't be much talking if one tried blowing themselves up either. Still, we do as we must to stop this nonsense. Moving forwards, I'd like to extend Nasibu's gratitude to you both for the great effort shown today." Jinx did bring up a good point. They couldn't very well fit those guys back through the entrance. So maybe shrinking them was the option. But he instead raised his staff and pointed it up among the group. A similar blue spark formed on the tip.
"Always save one just in case. I can take us all back, but I'll be spent for the day. You can see why I waited for this one, right?" Striker's eyes lit up as she wanted to see how that whole teleportation schtick worked. She'd shake her hands in anticipation.
"Wait, really? Just straight back? Sweet!" If there were no further interruptions, this blue spark would grow from the staff and engulf them all. In a blink, they no longer saw the dank, destroyed remains of the hideout and instead stood back in a busier time square, right outside the capitol building once more. A guy coming down in traditional konatsian warrior garb smacks into Striker as she appears here.
"That makes sense. It would've been really weird if this place was where the strongest congregated. None of 'em could have made anything close to a city-sized storm, let alone a planet-sized one." A branch of a bigger tree? Whatever the case, the problem was officially in Nasibu's lap. Jinx and Striker had been contracted for one specific job. In her humble opinion, they performed spectacularly. All dudes captured, no Foki guards or Foki dead. "Gratitude is nice, but I'll be sleeping soundly when we get to the promised rewards." Money and reputation. Both things they needed to fuel the fledgling Nova Corps.
With a quick use of warp, the party emerged back in the capital safe and sound. "Neat! Beats walking, that's for sure." And taking the tram again. It was nice but horribly slow compared to how Jinx and Striker got around. "Alright, Strikes! I'm gonna go get our paychecks, you figure out a way back home that preferably doesn't involve traipsing through the Aster again!" Jinx spun on her heel, dashing toward the government building with Foki and his bubbly captives in tow - leaving Striker alone to get bumped into ever so savagely. The first super official team mission for the Novas... is a success!
"Mission Success!" Well, lucky for the Kashvar bumping into her, this really did nothing but surprise her. Yelping almost more out of habit than actual hurt. It was this warrior that had to stumble back and apologize before wandering off. Foki gave the pair another chuckle before starting off back to the capitol building with his captives. Giving the pair a knowing wave.
"You two stay safe, and I hope you can appreciate the little bonus I threw in personally. Just now. I'm sure it will suffice more than just my words of thank you." Jinx would be gathering the actual pay, credits, and all. Also noticing alongside the stash a specially made, unsocketed Kashvar Charge Crystal. One tailor-made for use in staff like his own and the other mages. He probably didn't care if she incorporated the thing or ate it, it was hers to keep. Already, some of the staff inside seemed to recognize them from the job they just helped with. First Official Nova Business, done!
"I got it, don't you worry Jinxie." Striker would be tasked, lastly, to come up with a way out without going through the Aster again. Way to leave it to the not-fly gal to sort that one out. The fauxbian frowned a bit and tapped her foot rapidly to the ground.
maybe if she just catapulted Jinx and then herself really far with the momentum of her body... Surely Jinx would appreciate that!
