In Tarbel Village, outside of the local bar, a Saiyan wearing a blue coat with a unique armored chestplate underneath was currently crouched behind a board of some sort with various amounts of tech on it. The Saiyan was tinkering with the machine's interior working to get it online. "Alright, just gotta connect this to...here...there we go." he muttered as he then picked up one last wire, specifically a connector. "now to plug this in, and the board will be online!" he then proceeded to connect the wire to the outdoor plug of the bar that was letting him do this.
With that the board came alive showcasing a holographic screen as the Saiyan stood up to look upon his work, to which he grinned seeing it working as Galis said it would, speaking of whom..."Hey Aspara you forgot something." The black haired and blue eyed tuffle in a trenchcoat told him, pointing at one particular part of the machine.
Aspara, the Saiyan working on the machine, looked upon what Galis pointed out, and facepalmed. "Dammit, forgot the extranet receiver." he muttered, as the receiver was needed in order to pick up bounties posted on the net, and would be how they advertised the board. With a slump of his shoulders, he went over to the large box and picked up the parts for it.

Any time a new bounty hunting organization started up in his region of space, Kabe was quick to know about it. This was because, due to his bounty now sitting on a fluctuating line between the billions and the trillions, a new bounty hunting organization spelled trouble for him and his crew. He didn't know a great deal about this new organization, only what his contacts had managed to put together for him on short notice.
It wasn't much. A basic description of an individual: saiyan, spiked black hair, medium length. Wears unique battle armor. Kabe nearly laughed as he read it; perhaps the most vague, universal description for a saiyan fighter he'd ever read, short of the time he was described in an article as the 'angry monkey warrior'. Sitting at the top of that little pile of vague data and non-info one useful piece of information: near the local bar in Tarbel, he'd be able to find him.
So he headed out there. It didn't take long to track down where the region's net-rigger had set regional bounty datasets to beam down to for testing. He'd gotten very good at cracking into that sort of thing ever since the bigger fish started coming after him when his bounty hit the first million zeni.
Dressed in an unassuming rendition on his usual get up — a purple and black set of saiyan armor, sans his usual gold embellishments — he approached the stranger. Black hair, spiked, medium length. "Huh..." He mumbled under his breath, the description he'd gotten being accurate despite how vague it was. "Hey, watcha doing?"
Aspara was trying to get the damn board calibrated when he sensed Kabe, he knew exactly who Kabe was of course, hard not to with the large bounty on his head, but honestly, it ain't his job to hunt him, not only is he not of the right level, he's also just a vendor, not a hunter. "just working on getting this damn board calibrated." The vendor stated with some frustration. "first day and already I'm having bad luck."
"No that would be your memory Aspara." Galis chimed in, making Aspara twitch.
"And you're just standing there watching and joking at my expense Galic...very funny." Aspara replied not even bothering to look at him as he finally managed to get the board up and working properly with the first set of bounties rolling in. Aspara looked to the bounties on the board and just sighed at what his advertisement brought him. "okay Galis, I know I said this was a great idea when you suggested it, but I wasn't expecting bounties like this to show up." Aspara stated looking blankly at the board stepping back for Galic and the newcomer to look at it.
One of the bounties was asking for someone to find items of religious importance, another was about clearing out a death cult hiding out in the ruined metropolis... okay that last one was somewhat more normal. The next one on the other hand...was just straight-up utter stupidity. "What the hell..." Galis muttered staring in disbelief, wondering why anyone would want to have saibamen as farm workers..., the idea would be sound if not for the fact that saibamen are highly hostile creatures.
Bounties like that as well as the expected escort or defense bounties were also there along with the occasional bizarre shit that would probably get a few laughs..."yep, extranet's weird." Aspara lamented, yes there was the occasional normal hunt a person down bounty, but honestly those are kind of overdone in their opinions. Still though, to think this was just what was on Plant, wonder what sort of weirdness he'd find on other worlds once he gets this thing really going.

"Bounties huh?" Kabe laughed, watching the scroll as the holographic bounty board finally flickered to life. He'd seen bounties put out on jobs before, but normally they were of a more serious nature. Looking at the listing left Kabe a little bit puzzled, and less than impressed. Not that he'd show that. "Impressive."
He walked a little closer, examining the last one in the current list. As the other figure, who he identified by name just prior as 'Galic' commented on it, Kabe cut in after both of their comments. "Nothing weird about it. How voracious a saibaman is depends on a huge number of factors, including mutation, type subset, soil quality and how they are treated when they emerged."
He wished he'd listened to Idnee's rants on the subject beyond that gist of information. "At least, that's what my resident wrangler tells me." Moving away from the board, he did wonder how the odd kinds of bounties this place was servicing had slipped past his radar. "So..." he began, sauntering back over to Aspara and his companion, leaning on a box. "Not seeing a huge amount of, let's say 'standard' bounties. What's the deal with that? The nets usually spit out better stock than this."
While Aspara was glad that someone here was impressed, he himself wasn't entirely impressed, still, there was one other function that needed to be tested, though the tidbit about saibamen was new. "Huh, well that explains the bounty..." then he looked closer and noticed one other detail. "ah, now I see why the bounty was posted, seems there's an infestation of foreign giant worms of some sort at the Saiba wastes that have been killing droves of saibamen." he shook his head, yeesh, wonder how those got there. When asked what the deal was with the nonstandard bounties, he shrugged "honestly when me and Galis came up with this idea, I got curious and wanted to see what people would come up with. As to why there are such lower standard bounties...well that's due to the membership detail." he pointed at the dummy profile that's logged in.
Galis decided to pipe in, pointing at a scanner on the board. "upon making a profile on the board, the board will immediately scan your powerlevel to check what level of bounties you'll be able to handle, meaning the stronger you are, the tougher the bounty that will be made available to take up. This can be updated at your own leisure." The bearded Tuffle sounded smug when he said this, making it somewhat clear that he added that particular feature. As is obvious, it had scanned Aspara and was showcasing bounties he'd be able to handle listing out the difficulty levels according to his powerlevel. "Essentially, a safety net ensures that each hunter will have challenging, but not impossible to do bounties each time they pick one."
"Of course, anything could happen while on the job so they gotta be careful not to get caught off guard by unexpected factors." Aspara added, "there is one other feature, as is expected of a bounty board system with this much variety, a browsing system!" he announced, noticing a camera viewing them, likely since the explanation of how the thing worked began...time to advertise! Aspara clicked the search option which had various filters on it. "With this, you can, if your feeling particularly daring, hit above your own weight class." He then searched the Dirty Snakes, which proceeded to showcase higher-level bounties due to the level of danger that the syndicate poses.
"you'll note that with my own powerlevel, going after these guys isn't exactly something I'm capable of right now, and as you can see," Galis continued the now blatant advertisement what with the drone viewing them. Under various bounties involving the snakes were an icon listing them as Impossible, not all of them, but a good portion of them does show this. "those listed under impossible are ones in which failure is very much assured if I alone were to attempt them, meaning that at my current level, I'd be better off with the lower level ones. They are set this way so as to not only ensure no one tries to go for something they can't go for, but also add a goal post for any individual hunter to work toward."

Hm. He'd seen plenty of bounty hunting organizations in his time, but their system — while unusual — was at the very least interesting. Normally, bounty services would have ranks or tiers you needed to progress along, or bounties were tailored to you dependent on reputation or service record. It was rare to see a system like this, which scanned your battle power and then algorithmically assigned you bounty choices suitable for your capabilities.
"So it scans your battle power? Nice. Does it read out in kili and rdz too, or just galactic standard BP?" He pondered it again for a moment, listening to the rest of the explanation. The element of maintaining a challenge was... odd. Would they not want bounties that would be reliably easy to achieve at your current power? But he supposed he was on plant, where pushing yourself was just part of the culture.
They did have some rather interesting information at their disposal though. Aspara pulled up a demo showcase, and a bunch of bounties on members of the Dirty Snakes criminal syndicate populated the screen. "Woah, the dirty snakes?" A grin was plastered on his face, unironically impressed with that fact. "I haven't seen an organization with clean information on those guys for a while now. You must either be extremely lucky, or have some net contacts that I should be jealous of."
Striding a step or two closer to the machine, he looked to the two strangers. "Do me. At my current battle power, what sort of jobs would I get to pick from?" He was just toying with the idea, it was all just a game, wasn't it? Surely, he had no interest in picking up bounty hunting.
Aspara leaned against a wall waiting and letting Kabe ask his questions. "Galactic Standard, if only to ensure that there's no confusion," Aspara replied with a proud smirk on his face mentally patting himself on the back for thinking that up, Galis had initially wanted to use Plant's standard, but Aspara's idea won out due to their future plans. The Saiyan observed as Kabe continued to look through the demo, and showed that he was clearly impressed. When he spoke of the Dirty snakes he saw Galis proudly grin. "Yeah the snakes hid their goods real well, but Galis' contacts are good at what they do..." Aspara doesn't even know how the glorious bastards managed it, there's a reason why it took several months before they set this up, they wanted to make sure the attraction was good.
"Unfortunately the contacts weren't able to get many details on what the snakes are up to in those coordinates, so whoever goes in will be going in mostly blind," Galis commented on the Dirty Snakes Bounties. "still, I'd consider these to be information gathering bounties, stealth is prioritized in this case, but its good to have a power backing you up in case things get rough." he finished, letting Kabe understand just what sort of bounties these could potentially also be.
Then Kabe asked the big question and wanted his powerlevel scanned...Aspara and Galis inwardly hoped this doesn't lead to any trouble, but the pirate seems chill enough. So Aspara gestured to Kabe to the machine after logging off. "Go ahead, I find myself curious as to what we'll see." The thing that Aspara's worried about is Kabe's own picture and bounty showing up, with how relaxed the man is though, he suspects there may be more to him than just being a pirate, or maybe pirates act chill like this in their off time, still though, perhaps he can manage to negotiate his way to ensure the machine doesn't get destroyed after all the work they put into the thing...granted, they got the schematics saved so building it again won't be as hard, but still, better to not have to waste the time.

Kabe wasn't sure why he was doing this exactly, but to him this all seemed to be a bit of good fun. Stepping up to the plate, Kabe allowed the advanced computer to scan him and register his battle power. 45,000. It's sensors were accurate and after a few moments the screen flickered to life allowing him to view a list of bounties appropriate to his current strength.
There were a few missions with which he scrolled past, a few fellow pirates or rookie hunters gone rogue, a stealth mission into the heart of beppa, and a handful of strange ones that vanished up the top of the screen almost as soon as they appeared at the bottom. Finally, he landed on his prize.
Target ID: Kabe Bonewood. KNOWN ALIASES: The Devourer, The Glutton Prince, The Stomach Wonder CURRENT BOUNTY: 998,854,300,000z WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE CRIMES INCLUDE: GENOCIDE, ASSAULT, AFFRAY, GRAND PROPERTY DAMAGE, GRAND THEFT, PIRACY...
The extensive list of crimes trailed off, and the total legally distinct crimes rested somewhere in the article of thirty, though Kabe could debate that some of these weren't crimes and some of those were redundant. "Who's the big guy?" He thumbed at his own picture, sarcastically. "Say, how does this system work. If I select a bounty, is it still open, or is it bound to me?"
Aspara glanced at the bounty, of course, the captain would want to look at his own bounty. Thing is, Aspara had looked into Kabe's bounty himself at one point, and did more research on the matter. Always wondered how a kid, Saiyan heritage aside, could've killed so many people including those who would've been much stronger than him at that time. Maybe he got lucky, or maybe there's some misunderstanding going on. Still, accident or not, the later crimes were clearly on the Captain. Though the piracy part implied business, meaning it could potentially be focused...
Galis decided to answer Kabe's question, being fairly relaxed even with Kabe's bounty up. "While I'd prefer for cooperation, I know that Saiyans like to be competitive, so depending on the difficulty of the bounty the number of people that can take it up can vary. I expect for more people to team up on the esoteric and complicated bounties, while simple ones I'm expecting less." Galis explained firmly, then pointed at a point at the screen. "You can also select roles."
As much as Aspara would love to spar with this guy, this is neither the time nor place to do so, so he instead decided to continue Galis' point while making one of his own. "To be more exact, roles are titles that can be earned depending on what bounties you take on. Also, Captain as ironic as it would be to attempt to cash in on yourself, it probably won't really get anywhere unless you are mainly just intending to keep track of it." The Bounty board vendor stated deciding to give the man a reason to take up the bounty, even if its one he can't exactly cash in on. He then pointed at one part of it that may catch his interest. "The bounty does also list which factions you are wanted by, and which you are not."
"Aspara I really hope no one here is stupid enough to actually try to-" Galis was then cut off by a few saiyans, lacking scouters and clearly brains as well, proceeding to rush at Kabe, making Galis and Aspara facepalm at their idiocy. "Kai dammit," Galis muttered at the utter stupidity before them.
Aspara decided to just sit back and looked at the Camera drone. "And now here we have examples of why going above one's weight class in terms of bounties is a bad idea. Please try not to kill them Kabe, because these fellows need this lesson as well, and we need to keep the rating down." The Saiyan bounty vendor stated, to the viewers and to Kabe, now blatantly revealing the pirate captain on LIVE TV, knowing this was going to get attention. Aspara does hope that the pirate knew how to perform for the camera.
WC: 468
And the first group of low level idiots who didn't bother learning ki sense nor even having scouters have arrived to try, and quite obviously fail, to cash in on Kabe's bounty, because of course there are morons like that.

"Oh, hello there." Kabe grinned, turning to face the small collection of saiyan brainlets who thought they were tough enough to throw hands in the big leagues. As the first one rushed in, Kabe grabbed a balled fist with a three-fingers claw grip and twisted, holding the musclehead in place. Aspara's words didn't fall on deaf ears, and very quickly Kabe took notice of the cameras fixed on him and the amassing saiyan crowd. "Don't worry, I won't kill you, but..." he started, headbutting the clamped saiyan with enough force to drive his nose inward and send blood gushing down his face.
"...this is going to hurt. Like, really hurt."
As the words escaped his lips, he twisted another three turns of his wrist, snapping something deep within the saiyans arm before flinging him limply toward another saiyan like a crude flesh ball and chain. Another two charged in, and Kabe jumped into the air as they collided, hovering over to one of the nearby camera drones and gripping it firmly. Pulling it to face him, he waved into the glint of the camera lens. "Hello there North Galaxy! Captain Kabe here, bringing you, the viewer, a list of ten things not to do when you're punching above your weight!"
Dropping the camera, he returned to the crowd and held up a singular finger as the first limp-armed saiyan returned for more. "Tip number one! Never, ever take turns charging in!" He kicked him in his already broken schnozz before flinging him at the camera. "Much easier to get tossed around that way!"
"So that's tip number one! But what about our next tip?" Kabe started, avoiding another attack and zipping behind Aspara before looking toward him. "Let's ask our esteemed guest, Aspara the Bounty Vendor. What's another mistake this crowd are making?"
Aspara watched, unsurprised to see Kabe wreck the idiots, and then he inwardly grinned as Kabe proved to be a showman! What a pleasant surprise this is. He observed as the crowd grew larger and heard people cheering on the fight, of course, they would. He could see Galis holding back a smile of his own, clearly happy about this development. They listened to Kabe introduces himself and damage more idiots as he did so.
When Kabe zipped behind him he noticed 4 more Saiyans rolling into the makeshift arena in response to Kabe's words. "Another mistake you lads are making is that in a serious bounty, being spectators can be incredibly dangerous due to stray energy blasts. So unless you are there to participate and help take a target down, you are merely just in the way." he started, then he raised an eyebrow upon seeing a group of 5 Saiyans taking Kabe's advice and getting set up to attack as a team.
Galis noted this with a slight grin. "Seems they're not without hope afterall Captain, they're taking your advice," and with the crowd backing off to avoid getting into any splash zone he finished with, "and Aspara's as well. Excellent, it seems these folks aren't without the capability to learn." With Galis done with that explanation, he looked to the Captain and his friend and gestured for the captain to continue his lesson.

"That's right!" Kabe shouted, agreeing with Aspara as he curled through the air and slammed into a cluster of spectators. "If you're here to gawk," he began, raising his leg high into the air and slamming it down onto a guarding brenchian who'd been hanging back for most of the altercation. "be ready to break a few bones!" As the brench stumbled back, Kabe clicked twice toward the camera to draw it closer and focus on him once more.
He sat, drawing in power and beginning to gather his energy for a large attack. In the few moments that he had, not one of the attackers drew in. They were held in place by their caution. "Tip number three! If you see your enemy, who already staunchly outranks you, charging an attack..." He raised two fingers into the air, a wave of energy blasting out from him like an aura, vaporizing the outer layers of armor some of the mercs were wearing and throwing them back several feet.
"Interrupt them before it's too late!"
As the mercs gathered themselves, those remaining stepping back or moving in, Kabe grinned. He didn't call out, didn't make a fuss. Simply gestured to usher them in.
Aspara and Galis watched as Kabe proceeded to go into the crowd, Now since it was clear to him that the Captain wasn't going to kill nor permanently cripple anyone, Aspara just found the whole amusing mainly due to how it just further highlighted the lessons he's trying to teach any would-be bounty hunters. Galis just had a drink he got from the bar and took a sip as the show went on. Aspara observed Kabe's style as he did his demonstration for the camera, and watched as he charged an attack and did the third tip, which to be frank, made sense, and is something he very much agrees with. The number of times he interrupted Saibamen got entertaining sometimes, especially when the interruption caused their charged attack to blow up in their faces.
When Kabe gestured for mercs to attack him, they did so in a much more clever way, two of them charged in only to blast the ground in front of them which created a smokescreen, and from what he sensed the other 3 proceeded to further surround Kabe and set up ki orbs in various positions in the smoke before proceeding to have the blasts go at Kabe, with but one opening where there wasn't any ki blasts which was where a merch attempted to kick Kabe into another waiting merc who'd prepared a strong punch to knock him toward another and it just went on like this.
Now whether this worked or not didn't really matter, what mattered was that this was a clever play if used by those near Kabe's level or even on it would've actually given the Captain trouble.
Meanwhile Aspara sensed an attack from behind and proceeded to move his hand to easily catch a fist coming at him from behind. "Tip 4, Sneak attacks, while a valid method, only works under the right circumstances, and if done wrong...." with that the Bounty Vendor proceeded to tighten his grip and threw the guy right over him and onto the ground. "to avoid failing, make sure to create cover like those fellows over there did, but also be sure that your opponent can't sense ki, because if they can...." he paused, deciding to let Kabe finish this one, and curious to see if Kabe actually has the sense as well.
Post by Captain Kabe on Jan 31, 2023 2:21:24 GMT -5
Kabe watched, feining ignorance, as the mercenaries split up to create a diversion. It as a tactic that he'd employed probably a thousand times when he was a member of the crew rather than it's captain, when he'd be put up against shady characters several times his battle power. With a wide stance, he clicked his scouter and scanned the surrounding smoke screen. A cluster of energy signals appeared, almost blinding him with alerts as they'd thrown up a screen of energy blasts to distract from their position.
"...they'll see right through your trap." Kabe grunted, turning at the last second to the dead zone he'd spied in the cluster and raising his arms with a few moments space as the merc through a desperate kick his way. Ducking and weaving, he avoided the coming blows as he looked to his side and saw the mercs had started on the bounty vendor as well. Did they think he was an accomplice? Kabe couldn't have that.
"Tip number five..." He started, crushing two skulls just a smide before grasping the ankle of the third merc assaulting him and leaping into the fray of those attempting a sneak attack on Aspara. He'd flipped the guy overhead and Kabe dropped down, battering him with the other guy. "If you're attacking a high profile fighter, don't waste energy attacking bystanders! You might leave yourself open..." He clapped his hands, a dull ringing sound preceeding a blast of energy to take out a few guys near Aspara. "...like this!"
As predicted, Kabe made rather quick, if extended for dramatic effect, work of the mercs going at him. Quite the nice showing at that, though from the beeping her heard, it was clear that he was using a scouter for this. 'eh, that works too,' Aspara thought to himself as a dumb drunk that tried to hit Galis ran into a tripwire which led to the poor idiot getting literally thrown into Aspara's extended fist as the middle-aged Tuffle's trap did its job. This of course led to said dumbass getting knocked out as the fist connected to the drunk's face.
Kabe proceeded to finish Aspara's sentence before finishing with the mercs. Then he gave tip 5, and Aspara just stood ever so casually as Kabe beat up the dumb drunks, as well as blasted a few near the Bounty Vendor. "Tip 6," Galis joined in, as yet another Drunk approached him from behind, clearly intending harm. "No drinking on the job," and with that one of Aspara's own planted ki blasts came up from the ground and proceeded to knock out said drunk. "better to say sober else you just embarrassing yourself and your team, or perhaps even worse, could tell of a group of lads that ended up dead that way during one of the wars." Galis remarked while taking yet another sip, clearly not listening to his own advice, which made Aspara facepalm.
"Gal, listen to your own advice man." Aspara scolded the middle-aged Tuffle, to which the other vendor laughed it off.
"Not exactly in any lethal scuffle here Scarfy. I think this old chap will be just fine with you and the Captain here protecting me." Galis stated putting faith in the two saiyans to protect him from lowly drunks, and being ever so casual while stating it...clearly hinting that he could defend himself just fine as is from mere drunks.
Aspara realize this was a good opportunity to explain one of the types of missions that can be given out by the board. "And with the mention of protecting, there are, in fact, two types of bounties involving protecting targets, one would be a Defense mission where you protect a target until extraction is able to arrive to pick up said target, and the other is Escort, where you are given an individual or have to get a high value object to get to a set location." He explained, gaining the attention of various mercs, as well as winces from others.
"I believe our resident captain here has some experience in the latter type considering his profession." Galis piped in, with the crowd now looking to Galis, and it made sense considering his reputation as a pirate who likely has to work to protect whatever loot he gains on his job. His words also implied privateer jobs being available for Kabe to go for in the future if he so desired.
