Cato couldn't believe her luck. When she had received a tip in the Radditsu District that her father, the one she had gained her unfortunate purple hair from, was an Earthling -- well, she assumed more than what she saw. She had flown three full rotations around the planet over the course of the day, using both her scouter as well as her ship's atmospheric sensors. It was true, at least at a glance, that there were incredible energies to be found on this planet: warriors, she presumed, whose power measured higher than she could have imagined for anyone less than royalty.
But, at the same time, she had noticed that the average Earthling was almost entirely beneath notice. At best, they were a clever sort. They had certainly managed great feats of engineering, and the activity in and out of their main cities suggested an aptitude for trade. But she didn't want to believe the tip she was given was true, all the same. She had hoped her heritage might have been from some noble warrior race, perhaps a distant rival of the Saiyans -- not someone from a gilded merchant backwater, which she judged to be more style than substance.
Maybe it was an unfair judgment, after less than a day. But she didn't think so.
Perhaps her mood was just spoiled by her unfortunate oversight: she hadn't brought enough rations with her to last the entire trip, as she had been expecting to be able to find good food here. But her most recent attempt at that was still sizzling over a fire, giving off a peculiar smell. She had managed to bring down a great, scaley beast and intended to use its meat, but she needed to boil it through due to her unfamiliarity with it. For that, she opted to make a soup -- but the combination of the meat along with what she had foraged, bright fruits of yellow, orange and purple, seemed to be ill-suited to eating.
She threw herself back to rest against her pod, gazing up at the heavy leaves that shielded her from the sun, nestled as she was in the depths of the forest. She idly flicked on her scouter's tracking beacon, in some vain hope that she wasn't the only Saiyan who'd made the mistake to come to this rock.
"This is Cato," she spoke into the device. "Member of the -- oh, forget. Is there anyone else on this miserable planet who has access to this line?"
