Tholen had known no mortal air until today. Plant wouldn't have been his first choice, nor his second or third truthfully, but it wasn't for him to decide. His destination was set in stone a time long before now, and he knew better than to question fate. If he could ask anything it would be for the visions to be clearer, else how was he to achieve anything? The forces beyond him worked in ways he'd never understand; it was his burden to decipher their meaning.
The black void opened on the surface of the Saiba wastes, and out stepped the fallen Kai. From his appearance you'd be mistaken for thinking he was of the rotten fruit variety; his disheveled appearance was hardly a godly sight. His first priority was a reading, and there looks to be plenty of game. Just give me the sign. His choice of meat would be a roaming pack of Saiba wolves; as good as meat as any for this job. As he approached the wolves they got the message quickly, with the alpha howling for the retreat, but they left behind the runt.
"You'll have to do." Tholen fell on top of his prey and effortlessly snapped the poor's beast neck. It's suffering was over in a few short seconds, but Tholen's job had only just began. He dragged the corpse over to a nearest tree, tearing off one of the shorter branches. He flattened the carcass out and cut a long incision starting at it's chest, running down it's ribcage and ending just near the tail. From there he pulled apart each flap of skin and gained access to the organs.
The heart and lungs would have been what he ate first, but this was a meal. He tore open the beast's ribcage plunged his fist into the mess of meat, ripping out the wolves liver. The basic examination looked promising; the organ was a good, full size despite it coming from a runt. "Good. That's promising." He cleared a section of land by tearing leaves from the tree and weighing them down by placing wolf bones around the edges. From there he laid the liver flat across and began his inspection.
The analyzing of organs was one of many things forcibly taught to Tholen by his unnamed master, for a greater cause he didn't yet fully understand. It was a quick and dirty way to read into the mind of fate; not the most effective method that he knew of, but without more resources it would have to suffice. The messages were always muddy, required a great concentration to read. He ran his ringers down the edges of the meat, looking for subtle changes in texture or size.
"What are you telling me... I see... beasts of different kinds fighting each other? One young... many old. Apes tear at each others flesh, the cat buries it's fangs into exposed flesh... and the old wyrm stands ready. Two thorns wrap tight around a neck... blood flows deep; some swim while others drown. I don't... I don't understand?" No matter how many times he asked, the visions were never clear.
