It was a nerve wracking thing, being in the courtyard of this palace, overlooking the city below. It was late evening, and the sun was just beginning to dip beyond the distant horizon, bathing the sky in a calming orange glow. It was, by and far, vastly different than Arcose.
Truth be told, Ticoga was feeling rather sheltered - he'd never left Arcosian controlled space. Every world looked the same - sprawling spires and towers brimming with the most advanced technologies. Those that could not fly, traveled in small floater tech vehicles high above in skylanes stretching so far, one would think there was no end to them. But here, on this rustic world, Ticoga felt calm. The breeze felt nice, he had to admit.
His nervousness came not from the location, which was only afforded to him due to his being a representative of the Arcosian Triumvirate Empire and due to his wanting to meet with someone of Ise's authority, but from speaking with yet another member of the Triumvirate leadership. Mint had recommended speaking to Ise during their first combat training session, and Ticoga had followed that advice.
Mint had, interestingly, chosen to test Ticoga's reaction to Ise being Saiyan - a test he wondered if he passed, as Ticoga had no reaction to the revelation. All he knew about Ise, was that she was adopted into a powerful Clan, is considerably powerful herself, and is purportedly blind. That she was that powerful while unable to see was something to not overlook. The Tournament that Empress Ise was participating in should be between matches, and so he'd hoped to at least get in a few words with her before her next bout.
One thing had stuck out to Ticoga, however, when Mint recommended speaking with Ise. Mint revealed that he was not skilled in the forms of leadership that Ticoga required to serve in the role Mint desired to prepare him for. Mint had, apparently, been happy enough to simply help Ticoga enhance his combat power. But when Ticoga expressed an interest in learning actual leadership, Mint had chosen instead to relegate the potential task to another Triumvirate leader.
Ticoga's eyes narrowed.
"...Does that mean that Lord Mint... is only in power because he is strong?" Ticoga mutters in wonderment to himself. "If so... if he is not confident in possessing leadership skills... then why is he in a position to lead?"
It was a perplexing, and possibly damning line of thought. Ticoga pushes the thought from his mind, at least for now. He couldn't afford to be distracted while speaking to one of prestige. Such things were a matter to be held between the members of the Triumvirate leadership.
Ticoga leans on his forearms against the top of the courtyard railing and sighs. Hopefully, the Empress would have, at the least, advice for him to use.
